Isn’t there a glider (and fast travel points) you can use to basically fly to wherever you want to go? Unless the glider was added later on. Plus isn’t the whole premise of Gotham Knights basically “Batman is dead and it’s up to the Bat Family to save Gotham”?

No it’s not. Gotham knights is a fever dream. SSKTJL way better gameplay wise and feeling wise. That game felt half good and story was straight garbage made no sense and was boring.

@@The_Reaper101Eh ssktjl is a bunch of sunset overdrive nonsense with a couple heroes slapped on top. Atleast Gk tried to make a story that made sense. Batman dies and his 4 protégés have to take over his spot and they struggle in doing so. Vs Ssktjl literally let’s you kill superman and batman and everyone in the justice league when that just would never ever happen. Even a brainiac controlled Superman would murder every person on that dumb team.

There is fast travel in the game. Once you return to the belfry after getting the book from Harley Alfred will tell you a character left you a voicemail. The game makes you listen to it, go and speak to that character and you unlock fast travel. If you choose to ignore it that is on you and not a fault of the game.
You forgot the part where you have to chase around drones like a Mook to even unlock the damn thing.
Also, if fast travel is preferable to traversing your open world, that's a failure of game design

@@samuelhunter4631 It's annoying scanning the drones (especially the shielded ones), but it takes like 5 minutes, 10 minutes at the most, to unlock them all.
The character is Lucious (sorry if I misspelled that, ) Fox also I didn't know you could miss that.

It's honestly not even a bad game. I don't see where all the hate is coming from outside of pure nostalgia for the regular batman games
It had a rough start, but since some major updates, it runs sooo much better on my pc. There are gripes but I've been enjoying it with friends. Wish it had a do over with some improvements.

The game isn't as bad as people say it is. It's very fun and a nice breath of fresh air from the button mashing that is arkham (amazing game series though). A big fault in the game is that it doesn't explain its features well, which makes people confused and not use the gamez features to its full potential.
The skill tree is perfectly fine, marvels Spider-Man had a nearly identical one and no one complained then. Problem is, it barely explains, if at all, how the elements works, modchips, fusing them, gear, anything like that.
Traveling isn't an issue because of fast travel, after getting the book from harley you saw in the demons and trailers, end the night and Alfred will tell you to meet someone. Once you talk to that person you can unlock them all. It takes less than 30 minutes, in arkham origins you needed to wait for certain parts of the story to unlock some.
If the game did better at explaining how it works, people will see its a pretty good game.

I said both game series are very good but have flaws, like any game out there has. Gotham knights had a lot of unnecessary hate from people comparing it to the arkham series when the dev specifically said multiple times "it is a different type of game, they are two different systems", so I was debunking some false criticism that the game got. If you knew how to actually read correctly, you would of seen that.
I have no issues or care for what people prefer to play more.

It has a lot of issues and annoying systems. But honestly as a game where i can turn my brain off on the weekends, it does the job pretty well and I’ve yet to see a bug.
Definitely a get on sale 6-7/10 type of game IMO.
I've been enjoying this game, myself. Playing on Series S and haven't seen framerate drops. The 30 fps may not be an issue for Series X, not sure though whether 60 fps is available on Series S. My monitor is only 1080p, so maybe that forces the console to not even bother attempting to render in 4k, allowing the processing resources to keep the frames stable. I have had a few minor bugs. Every so often (usually the first attempt to launch the game on a given day), the game immediately crashes to the dashboard. Otherwise, I once got stuck phased into a car I climbed onto so I could do a takedown on an attacker. I couldn't grapple away or move. Had to quit out of the game and reload the last autosave. Didn't attempt to recreate the bug, because the attacker was a GCPD Assault Officer. Only other issue has been seemingly getting stuck momentarily when crouched on a railing on top of a construction site, reducing the option to smoothly keep moving. The issue of getting stuck momentarily on top of a railing, happened at least twice, maybe three times so far.
@@shdwhwk4735 in terms of bugs for me I've seen 2 it crashed twice on release day whilst riding the bike, didn't happen again after the first patch. The other one was quite funny, a league assassin spawned under a cop car and was just like popping out flailing their swords around every so often.

I really enjoyed this game after I got it on gamepass like Ik it ain’t the best but I liked that there was crimes that would happen and if you didn’t stop them quick they would disappear from the map I always wished the Arkham games did also wished the Arkham games had civilians and side note playing as Jason just makes it feel so much more personal and I kind of wish that you could’ve experienced some back story’s with him like him looking at a picture of the original jayson and then having a flash back to before that moment and you be able to see him get a since of déjà vu even tho he don’t remember, also the Batman death by the Lazarus pit just hurt to see for me
Also In the Arkham games tho I wish that they would’ve had the on going crimes like this that end of you don’t go stop them but also that you could go track down those crooks

How can you even fight against league of assassins they can literally teleport From one place to another in nanoseconds , by the time they appear behind you u can't block or dodge any of their attacks

WB Montreal should've made a sequel to Arkham Origins.
The repetitive radiant quests THAT YOU HAVE TO DO to progress the game are killing it for me. Also combat is essentially mashing square and it feels like a poor imitation of spider-man.

@@HoboJuanKenoli I was not a massive fan of Arkhams combat either, it felt good in the first game but overstayed its welcome (the stealth was miles better than GK though). But the Arkham games had such a strong horror aesthetic and presentation that made up for its failings.

The 30 fps always brings out the snowflakes. There are many good games that run fine on 30 fps and many bad games that look about the same on 60fps.

I’d say it’s a good game for $30. Wish it could have been a great game for $70. Ended up beating it over this past week. I didn’t realize GameStop was having a trade promotion when I traded it in and ended up getting $56 for it! That’s just a heads up for anyone considering doing the same!

@@silentghost751 Graphics, Combat, Story, Sound Design, Traversal, Atmosphere wise Arkham Knight wins by a milestone. Arkham Knight was developed in almost 4.5 years and Gotham Knights took 5 years.

You know this was first designed for live service, but then turned to SP/coop game w/o enough redesigning. The skill system, minor difference items trickling availability, the filler quests, etc.

People need to stop acting like the Arkham games were flawless, they were extremely good games with tons of fun to be had. But I wouldn't rate any of them a 10/10 besides Asylum based on what it accomplished at the time.

Its not the way they fight thats the issue, the gameplay is just nowhere near as fun. The Arkham combat system is miles ahead

The fact that the devs looked at what they made and thought "yeah this can match the arkham series".
Actually a really good game. Most people just don't understand a lot of how games actually work. PC gamers (such as myself) worth their loud mouths will have a pc that can run this game. Also if they took out Ray Tracing they could easily bump this to 60 fps on consoles. Ray tracing isn't worth the massive amount of power needed.

If you unlock the knighthood you can glide like batman with batgirl. Haven’t finished the other knighthood for anybody else but I would imagine they get a better way to get around too
Gliding and grappling should have been default from the start.
Robin gets a stupid wonky teleport
Nightwing gets a "flying trapeze"
Red Hood gets "mystical leap"
I liked this game more than most probably did but my big problem was the combat didn’t have the satisfying feel as the Arkham games. The characters lacked the variety of animations that Arkham used to make the combat visually appealing so fighting felt lackluster at best and like a mediocre 90s beat ‘em up at worst. The enemies lacked the variety required to force you to diversify your attacks, every enemy can be beaten down with simple melee attacks and perfect dodges, without the shields, stun sticks, armor, etc. Arkham has you can mentally autopilot fighting without worrying about breaking your combo, and even if you do break your combo it doesn’t punish you like the Arkham games because there no combo moves. I feel like the stealth (especially as Robin) was fun and somewhat replicated the Arkham feel but there was still a lack of takedown variety that leaves you short for options. Even if all the problems you mentioned were fixed the game would still come short because it’s missing the stealth and combat essentials that made batman feel so crisp.
What sucks is easily the best thing about this game is the differences depending on which character you play as in the story. While they’re basically just dialogue changes and mannerisms they do them in ways that still feel different when the interactions happen. Like my favorite is when Jason Todd finds out Jacob Cane is the leader of the court of owls and says “I STOPPED killing people jacob”
even the interrogations instantly become cooler when you play as jason because he's the "edgy" kid and likes to kill while the devs thought it was a good idea to give him nerf guns....

Why do cops come after vigilante’s? How could Batman have built everything he built in that universe if the cops weren’t on his side made no sense
I don't think GK and ARKHAM universes are the same so I think cops would hate vigilantes...also a lot of what they do is illegal...if we throw all the laws out the window...even then, the game allows you to fucking beat up cops that respond to a crime.. i think anyone charging aggressively from a crime zone after beating criminals if not known by a cop should be a threat to everyone and the cops do it well in the game..
They don't get attacked randomly by anyone "coming after them" besides the people that even batman struggled with like Talia and the court that no one even knew was actually real, and at that they found the court and snuck in to their base before the court fought back. What special tech are you even referring too? Tim's short range teleporter? Because everything else besides a 3d printer was destroyed when batman blew the cave and his manor to fucking pieces. Would you prefer the game set up by batmans death....have batman? There would be no point in the knights. And the entire point of the four of them taking over for 1 guy is that he (1) was far more experienced and dedicated to gotham specifically than them and the lore even tells you that he believes that the 4 of them together will be better for gotham than he ever was.

Honestly, the combat is the best part of the game and people keep on comparing it’s Arkham knight but you gotta understand Arkham knight had a bigger budget and had two other games before it so they already knew what mistakes they needed to fix and what the fans wanted honestly if they just had a DLC yourself then they could be pretty good
Plus, the game dev's said from almost day 1 the combat wont be like arkham, they are making a new style of game. If you go back and compare asylum and knight its like night and day difference. If people stop comparing 2 different games and let them learn, it will improve.
I think too many people went into it expecting an Arkham title but it’s not an Arkham title. It’s got it’s issues yeah (so do the Arkham games) but I’m genuinely really enjoying it
Just remember that Arkham knight released seven years before this on last GEN consoles and it still looks 10 times better than this game and is able to keep a fairly high frame rate

I loved this game. Platinumed it with my best friend in like the first week it came out on the hardest difficulty and was having a blast the whole time doing it. To each their own.

Me, but with Red Hood. Such a shame it didn’t live up to expectations, the character portrayals are faithful and all-around pretty good but the execution is sorely lacking
This is a bit late but the short isn't accurate to the actual game. There is fast travel unlocked super early. If you want arkham style combat go batgirl, she has almost the exact same fighting style. It is a bit slower but that is intentional as its a different format of combat. Only problem the game actually has is poor optimization.

So what you’re trying to say is, you’re seething at the fact it’s not an Arkham game? Because the first point actually makes no sense, bad guys tracking you like the court and the league makes sense as to why you can’t see them coming, one is mystical ninjas who are much more brutal under new leadership who can teleport and speak a language that I’ve never heard of and the other is a rich elite cult of people who literally have ninja zombies that are hive minded…. my favorite part about arkham is how in depth the combat is and how fun its been to master it. mixing up gadgets, perfect counters on blade guys, throw counters, etc etc. Im not saying they shouldve copyed arkham to an exact replica, but having SOME depth wouldve gone far. I want to *feel* like the most skilled martial artists in the world i dont want a cutscene that continues everytime i press x

And now look at the new Suicide squad game it might be fun on release but to be honest it looks sooo bad. I don’t want to be quick to judge it but holy f that game just already looks terrible and it’s from the creators of the Arkham games… well at least the same company.

It ain’t that bad and the motorcycle ain’t the only way to get around. There is fast travel plus every hero has their own specific traversal mechanic. Like Jason can jump off spirit platforms and batgirl can cape fly like bats.
Can’t argue with you but overall the game is very enjoyable,
The story is interesting and and keeps me coming back for more and more.
I hope to see some Story DLC later so I can continue playing
i actually found the game a little enjoyable as long as you dont bash it every second you play its still fun, the court of owls were cool to see in this game too
You can enjoy bad things. But the thing you are enjoying is still factually bad regardless of the entertainment value received.
This game is the exact example as to why Batman keeps saying he doesn’t need their help.
I think the only time I felt a sense of challenge was 1 or 2 of the Starro side missions, because even though it was the same stale combat, spamming the same few abilities and mashing square, juggling between waves of melee and range meant for a team alone while trying to do an escort mission of flip some switches was actually interesting.
With such a lacking combat system, it might have done well as a hack and slash but as it stands it wasn’t great.

4th core failure: Needing to do a full 90° turn before moving left or right. It makes movement so stiff.
Strangely there is something always about these games that frustrates most people that seem to capture my interest.
This game was HOOORIBLE! Should have never been allowed to be released.
The biggest issue is that 90% of people buying these games just want Batman, they don't know the comics or characters. They just want a Batman beat'em up like the first 3 games and not a continuation of a universe

Very very factual. 90% of complaints are people whining and crying its not arkham when it was stated so many times it wont even be arkham. If people want a game to compare it to, compare it to marvel's spiderman, they share a lot of gameplay mechanics. I have 70+ hours and the only actual problems I've found is the game could do better at explaining its mechanics.
@@icevolt5771 I'll add that Kevin Conroy (goat batman) being in late stages of cancer and recently passing had a lot to do with Conroy and the devs wanting to continue the universe with the bat family. If they had just hired another voice actor and recast batman this fast people would have been far far more upset than having to play as his family. For a lot of people there was nothing they could do to win
Lets talk about how every vent in the city is just open already because the devs couldn't animate the batfamily breaking the vents Or how anytime you do get a chance to go in a building, it's just a load screen lol. Or how you have to hold x/a to start villian missions lmao. This game has so many copouts, it's amazing it even got released as a full priced game and not a 30 dollar spinoff. This is suppose be a next gen title but it feels like a ps3 era game built for new gen hardware.
I’m having a blast with the game. Just did the mr.Freeze mission, good boss battle imo. Oh, and as far as the motorcycle’s going slow, remember, Arkham Knight had a city FULL of thugs/criminals, he could race whenever, and here, you have legit citizens in the streets… The game is a solid 6.5/10, maybe a 7(with a 60fps patch)

Well I've never seen digital foundry criticise a game's visual this much. But Gotham knights is like the only game that got a negative review for its visuals and technical aspects. Also it's not like having npc citizens in the city was a groundbreaking thing. It's been in open world city games for more than a decade. Arkham knight had destructible environments for batmobile( basically any surface you hit will break , pillars concrete walls etc ). The rain looks spectacular, the sea waves are beautiful. Gotham knights can't have any excuses for its abysmal performance and art design. City in arkham knight, thats Gotham.

That's where I'm at. I'm enjoying this title way more than Arkham Knight. I do wish for a consistent frame rate but that's about it. I'm having a blast, I think people just compare it too much to Arkham City when they should compare it to Arkham Origins which was actually made by the same dev as Gotham Knights.
The main things that failed in this game were
1 combat I don’t mind the level system/rpg style they brought here but they could’ve kept the core combat from the Arkham series and just added more features to make it better then other and like no other arkham game
2 vehicles I think it would’ve been awesome if some of the characters had something like the batwing or their own kind of Batmobile customized to their personas
3 graphics I don’t think I really need to explain myself on this because arkham knight still looks better then this
4 gadgets I think it would’ve been awesome if the each character got their own kind of new gadget that Batman had left for them and can change their style of fighting that makes u wanna pick that chars for that certain reason
The super slow ways to get around the city were the piece I just couldn't deal with. Traded it in for CoD today...

There are literally multiple ways to traverse the city
And they are all slow and boring to use. I've unlocked three traversal abilities across Nightwing, Red Hood, and Batgirl and they are all slow and frustrating. Slower than the batcycle and the batcycle is already slow.

@@Kashmoneygodzilla um, what? Not at all. The batmobile does not feel anywhere near as slow and the gliding is a LOT faster than Batgirl's.

@@Lugent25 You mean to travel quickly and not at a slugs pace, right? Because Gotham Knights does have fast travel. But no means for you to actually travel quickly in game, unlike the Arkham games. After playing Gotham Knights, I went back to play Arkham Knight and the difference is astounding. The batmobile is at least twice as fast as the batcycle and the gliding can take you at least 4x as far as the gliding with Batgirl in half the time. As much as I do like Sonic, I don't need to play it for faster movement than Gotham Knights. The movement in Ghost of Tsushima is faster and you ride a horse in there, not a crazy supposedly high tech motorcycle.
I don't understand the hate this game gets I really don't. It really isn't that bad. And is still insanely fun to play.
