Hi 😊 In this video I share 15 ways to find medical billing clients. ua-cam.com/video/dhnjyBloysA/v-deo.htmlsi=2dr1ofrS234R1aei Medical billers do not have to be certified. I recommend it for those who want formal education and training, but it is optional. Best of luck!

Hey kiana I'm an Account Receivable & Biller I have around 4 years working for many practices. I need some good guidance how I can grow in this industry I don't see any career growth from here in India. Please help me to grow in this healthcare industry your all videos are informative I believe that will help more people #Keepitup👌
Hey Kiauna you are a true gem. I am working in a medical billing can you please tell me how can i found provider. Its difficult for me to start as a individual contractor can you please tell me something how can i start this journey as a single individual. i am waiting for your kind and motivated reply. stay blessed stay happy😍
How did you get your first client? I have 9yrs experience with an AS degree in medical billing/coding. I have my business setup as far as llc, business account, ein…just can’t seem to land a client
I shared in the video how I got my first client! My employer gave me my first opportunity. Watch my video titled "15 Ways to Market Your Medical Billing Services". Best of luck to you.
I'm so glad I came across this video. I've subscribed to your channel and am excited to watch them. I used to work on Medicare and Advantage Plan corrected claims and appeals and found I enjoyed trying to figure out what the coding issues were and was thrilled when I was able to figure them out (my supervisor would make the actual changes and appeals I'd submit them). I've looked into AAPC billing class and they recommend prerequisites in Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Pathophysiology. Do you feel those are needed? It's an extra almost $1,000 for the course. I can find books on those subjects on Amazon for much much less.
Hi! Those prerequisites are required for coding and are optional for billing. You don’t have to spend the additional $1000! I’m a licensed AAPC approved billing instructor and offer the same CPB prep course with textbook, code books, membership, practice exam and exam voucher with 2 attempts. And you’ll get access to my hands on billing training course with live weekly classes! Please visit my website and check out Biller BOSS Bootcamp or email me at askthebiller@gmail.com for the details. Thank you for subscribing!😊
Thanks for watching, Annette. It depends. If you have experience and know 100% this is a business you want to pursue and are ready for, start the business! And if you are unsure and want to take it slow, or don't have the money to form the business, start out as a freelance biller working under your name and SS#.
Thank you. I am now out of training for medical processing- now I'm still not getting the pmp to understand how to release or pay or deny the claim. I want to really really understand. I'm in Detroit, on line.
Healthcare experience is NOT required to be a medical biller, but it definitely helps! All you will need is training which I offer over 6 weeks via zoom.
Thank you for your awesome information!! What did you take for learning the medical billing software? And what textbook did you purchase to learn billing? I finished my medical coding program but haven’t taken the CPC exam yet ( I’m having a hard time learning all of the guidelines for coding, when to use the modifiers, how to order the procedures, etc). Getting into medical billing seems to be an easier barrier of entry into healthcare management.
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching. I don’t remember which book I used. It was so long ago! I took a class at a local college to learn the billing software. But you can contact the software company directly for training. In regards to the CPC exam, have you considered hiring a tutor to help you with areas you don’t feel confident in? When it comes to guidelines you don’t have to memorize them. Familiarize yourself with them and know where they are located. Read them every week for a month and you’ll become more familiar with them. Same with modifiers. There are videos here on YT that review guidelines and modifiers. And definitely purchase all of the practice exams. If you do well on those it’s a good indication that you are ready to take the exam. Good luck!😊
Hey I became a certified medical biller back in February this year but I dont have the money to start my own business and all these medical groups that are hiring billers expect me to have 3 years experience so I'm at a loss and I could use some of your advice, thanks.
Hey! So you don't need money to start the business, you need experience! So just focus on that. Have you tried seeking out local medical billing companies? They are usually willing to train. Also, don't rule out employment agencies. They staff medical offices and facilities. If you can't find a medical billing position you will have to work your way into it by starting in entry level positions such as scheduling, registration, front desk, authorizations/referrals, etc. Best of luck to you!!
Oh wow Groat video , I wish I would have seen your video when I first graduated MBC with my Associate s Degree , I had so many questions . Now I’m just getting back into trying to get Certified as a Coder and A Biller . Thank you

Hello, I am certified in Medical Billing and Coding. I have worked in this industry for various specialties Physicians billing and hospital billing for 23 yrs. My question is how can I find my own contract like you did ? I really appreciate if you could help me and tell me how I can get my own contracts? Since I am very interested in being able to work from home and have my own business. Is there a company that offers contracts once I have my LLC? Thank you in advance for your help.
Hi! There is no company that offers contracts. As a business owner or independent contractor, you have to network and go out there to find new clients. Please watch my video titled "15 Ways to Market Your Medical Billing Business" for some ideas. Best of luck to you.
Hi I have over 30 year medical billing/follow-up experience. I'm currently working in Epic for a company in Atlanta. I would like to start my own company. You mentioned offering a course related to starting your own business. Do you still offer that cours
Hi Janice. I hosted a masterclass discussing the steps to starting a home based billing business. I also have a medical billing services agreement template for purchase. Here is the link app.gumroad.com/askthebiller Wishing you much success : )
Hey Quiana I hope you're doing well.Thank you for sharing you're immersive experience with us, I'm working as a Billing Executive in India and I planning to settled in USA as a medical Biller. If you don't mind can you give some guidance, because that'll help me a lot
Thank you! The time frame will be different for everyone. It depends on how much time you have to dedicate to it. Some people are working and have families so it may take longer. But my online BILLING course, not coding, is prerecorded with lessons, training and masterclasses so you have access to all of the content upfront at the time of registration. We meet live for 6 weeks on Wednesday's at 8pm for Q&A, to review the homework assignments and for any additional training needed.
in our country the Philippines i have a certification of being An ICD-10Coder, I know this job is far different from the one you’re doing but somehow it is related to how the diseases are translated into AlphaNumeric Codes, what’s next for me then as I would love to do medical coding and work in the comfort of my home! please do help me madam! Thank you in advance!
I have a question for you. Does Medical Billing require a lot of typing? I suffer with Carpals Tunnel. Would it be a good idea for me to get into Medical Billing?
Hi Emily. I’ve been a biller for the last 15 years and don’t have my CPC. Billers are not required to do coding. But we do have to understand the codes and modifier usage. The CPC is not a requirement for billing. Is it a plus? YES. Do I plan on sitting for the exam? YES. If your ultimate goal is billing start with the CPB first. I’m a licensed AAPC CPB instructor so if you have any further questions feel free to email me. Best of luck!
I completed this course and am now certified. But I live in the Bahamas and it has been difficult finding a job here. Do you know of companies willing to hire internationals ?
I don't know specific companies hiring internationally but you can work directly for providers. Network on LinkedIn and in Facebook groups to find your own clients!
Would it be possible to code and bill for a healthcare provider out of the state I am based in? The CPC certification is valid nationwide? I'm looking specifically at Texas and I'm from Illinois

Hello. I just subscribed. On the 28th of February, I will be taking medical billing and encoding at DeVry in Chicago. What kind of computer do you recommend if I start my own medical billing and encoding business?
Hi Michellina. Years ago, before purchasing a computer we had to make note of the specs needed to be able to download the billing software. But now most softwares are cloud based. You can access them via the internet. So you can purchase any computer you prefer. It doesn't matter whether it's a desktop or laptop. And high speed internet is a must! Best of luck : )
Not much exp in billing however, I took the coding/billing course 1 yr ago. Didn't sit for certification as yet. My education/exp is in H.I.M as a mgr/tech. Currently, working as a trauma registrar. Is it difficult to obtain employment in this field part-time? Thank you, for posting this video.

Hi! I'm not familiar with Penn Foster. You should look for reviews and feedback possibly in the billing and coding Facebook groups. Best of luck to your wife!😊
Hello!!! I just have a quick question….Do a lot of companies offer a medical billing job opportunities in the evening? I have a full-time job as a pharmacy technician which I really do love but I was thinking of doing something in the evenings…..after 5pm. Thank you so much for your time!
Hi LaTonya. Most duties can be performed at any time. For example, claims entry & submission, EOB review and payment posting, creating and sending statements. I have two little boys and sometimes I get my best and most productive work done at night and over the weekend. What needs to take place during business hours is making calls to patients and/or insurance companies. But that all depends on the provider/practice you are working for and the scope of work. I don't know of any companies hiring evening billers but you can find independent contractor positions and make your own schedule! Best of luck : )
as a beginner if we say i want to start this process and i have very less experience in this. so can you first tell me how I need to work on this and from where I can buy the softwares and how can I connect with the providers
Contact local medical offices, clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, laboratories, etc. Which exam are you referring to? AAPC exams are "national" so they are recognized in any state and across the world! University of Colorado Medicine offers a virtual billing and coding apprenticeship program. They prefer Colorado residents, however, they accept applications from out of state residents as well. Check their website every month for updates on when they are accepting applications. www.cumedicine.us/about-cu-medicine/health-insights/cu-medicine-revenue-services-apprentice-program

I just found your channel. I have been considering medical billing for awhile now. Finding it difficult to get a job without hands on training. How much is a course for billing?
You will learn the stages of the revenue cycle and the skills you need to obtain a billing position. Even intro to coding in week 3, since billers work with the codes daily. Below is a link with details and feel free to email askthebiller@gmail.com. Thank you. askthebiller.myshopify.com/products/1621013

I currently work at a bank with no healthcare experience or medical experience, I’m taking the aapc courses for medical billing and am studying to take the cpb. Any advice for me? Thank you
Hi Courtney. Absolutely! Everything on the CPB exam is covered in the prep course, textbook/training guide and practice exams. Purchase the practice exam bundle (all 3 practice exams). They mimic the real exam so you know what to expect. Answer EVERY question. Do not leave any blank. Even if you don't know the answer take a guess because you have at least a 25% chance of being correct. Familiarize yourself with the 3 coding manuals (CPT, ICD10CM, HCPCS). The CPB exam has 15 coding questions and should know how to use the manuals and find the codes. There are multiple versions of the exam. So it's great to listen to the experience others had but keep in mind your exam may not be exactly the same. It may have different questions. And do not study the night before or morning of the exam. Get a good night's rest and healthy breakfast. You have 5 hours and 40 minutes to complete 200 multiple choice questions so you want to be well rested and ready to get the job done! Wishing you all the best. Stay in touch and let me know when you pass so I can celebrate with you : )
Hi Michelle. I cannot speak for coding but it is possible to find medical billing opportunities with the flexibility to work when it is convenient for you but as an independent contractor/freelance biller.
Hi im planning to enroll in aapc )medical billing certification) How many months will it take to finish the course? Can you give me an overview to what to expect with the course . Thank you
Hi! I'm a certified and licensed AAPC instructor and offer the CPB (Certified Professional Biller) prep course. You have up to 6 months to access the prep course, 14 chapters. Everyone takes a different length of time completing the course depending on their other obligations. It consists of 14 chapters. You will read your textbook chapters in addition to the course chapters and take quizzes. There is a final exam and you have to pass the course with a 70+ to earn the certificate of completion. You can get through the course as quickly as you would like and then you are ready to sit for the exam in person. Feel free to schedule a consultation call on my website or send me an email.
Hi, very informative! Which would you recommend to start, being a independent contractor or to start a medical billing business
Thanks for watching, Annette. It depends. If you have experience and know 100% this is a business you want to pursue and are ready for, start the business! And if you are unsure and want to take it slow, or don't have the money to form the business, start out as a freelance biller working under your name and SS#.
@@AskTheBiller Thank you for this information and the information in your videos!,
How much should you supposedly charge for medical billing
Thank you for sharing your experience, and I'm interested
Thank you. I am now out of training for medical processing- now I'm still not getting the pmp to understand how to release or pay or deny the claim. I want to really really understand. I'm in Detroit, on line.
Hi, I am looking for some collaboration, people who can bring clients for me. could you help?
Thank you for sharing your career journey and experiences.❤
I AM READY
Let's go!!!
I would love to do this, I have Nurse Manager experience with a lot of experiences in between. I would love to work remotely.
Healthcare experience is NOT required to be a medical biller, but it definitely helps! All you will need is training which I offer over 6 weeks via zoom.
@@AskTheBiller Thanks. I will check out this out. 😊
@@AskTheBiller Gotcha, and thanks

Hi I am from India , working in Medical billing for almost 10 years. Can I do the CPB course online from my country ?
This is so awesome! How long does it approximately take to study and learn billing and coding? Thanks in advance! 😊

I have a question for you. Does Medical Billing require a lot of typing? I suffer with Carpals Tunnel. Would it be a good idea for me to get into Medical Billing?
Hi Michelle. Yes, medical billing requires A LOT of typing as we are working on computers all day. Take care!
Do you suggest taking the CPC class & exam before taking the CPB? I keep hearing this and what your opinion. Thank you

Hi! Are you inquiring about certification in medical billing or dental billing?
How do I get an internship or my foot in the door? I recently graduated from a program and am about to take the state exam.
I think it's the MCA exam.
