Coming back 6 months after watching this to share my story with new viewers. I'm 36/M, used to have a great body in my 20s, but since reaching my 30s, I was putting on weight like crazy. I figured it was the amount of beer I was drinking each day, I grew a beer belly, man boobs, I felt terrible. I decided to cut out beer completely (the most difficult thing I've ever done) from my diet, and try a low-carb diet. In only 6 months, I'm back to a healthy weight (74kg - 190cm tall), no man boobs, slim stomach, my abs are showing again, I feel much, much, much healthier both physically and mentally. I've tried several diets before, I worked out every day, nothing worked.

It's low carb/healthy fats for me forever. I eat one meal a day because I'm only hungry for one meal. No snacking, no processed foods, no sugar. I don't waste time making keto-friendly versions of carb-heavy foods. I focus on the best quality meats I can afford - grass fed whenever possible. Berries and a couple of diced kiwis in a bowl is a treat a few times a week, not every day. I can walk by candy aisles now and feel no more urge to eat than if I were walking down the nuts-and-bolts aisle at Home Depot. I'm at my goal weight, slim and trim, and I take no medications. I'm 69 and I don't remember ever feeling this good since college.

Never once did I see him test his blood sugar. He ended up passing just a few years later at only 58. Utterly heartbreaking. I told him it could be stopped/reversed. He ignored me. He'll say its just that our family are fat but almost everyday he buys a packet of four donuts and will sit and eat them all, then for dinner just have chips and other junk.
I cook my own meals from scratch and always offer to do him some but he won't touch it and I'm making nice meals wiht lots of veg and protein!

Dr. Jason Fung has been debunked. He misquotes, cherry-picks and distorts the facts for whatever reason. Just because he talks about human suffering doesn't mean he's a great person - manipulative people do that so that by the time they're done getting you emotionally hooked, you no longer have the ability to filter and critically think about the nonsense he says. @Shinobi_Fox 2 роки тому +14

Don't make the switch please, Africa has some of the best ultramarathon athletes in the world because of it's high-carb, plant-centric diets and the poor are always healthier in places like yours when they can't afford to eat things like meat, eggs, milk, butter and cream all the time, because those foods kill us and make us diseased.
Whats happening in the west now is a war for the truth of food and health, just like a few decades back when the tobacco industry tried to bribe scientists, doctors and use ads to trick us into thinking smoking was healthy or at least not harmful. We of the west are sick and far because we take animals, we fatten them up in farms using huge amounts of food that could be fed to people, we make the live in filth and make them sick and then use antibiotics to keep them alive until they make incurable superbugs and then we feed their flesh, eggs or milk to ourselves, we get sick, then we spend all our money on medications to fix the illnesses that meat and dairy cause to us.
My family originally came from South Africa and I have photos of my family from back in the 70's-80's when they were skinny and healthy from mostly eating low-fat bean curries and mielie/maize meal, they moved to Australia in the 90's but even after that they still mostly cooked home meals, the only difference was they could afford to buy meat and dairy and fry everything in cheap processed oils. My great grandmother died overweight, she loved her meat and lard. My grandfather lived on sausages, butter, bacon, eggs for breakfast, he had a stroke and brain haemorrhage by his 70's, he went deaf, blind and senile and suffered before he finally died. My grandmother was healthy on her morning fruit and mostly vegetables for lunch/dinner, later in her years she was eating buttered toast for half her meals and then had a stroke which lead to her death.
My dad loved meat, ice cream, chocolate and butter and because of it he was obese, pre-diabetic and had very high cholesterol and blood pressure when I grew up, after I convinced him to go vegan/plant based last year his blood sugar levels dropped to normal, his cholesterol dropped 30% and his blood pressure issues went away within 6 weeks. My mum was having hip problems until she decided to also go plant-based with my dad, now her hip issues are gone and she hasn't gotten sick since.
I was so scared about losing my parents a year ago but I haven't seen them so healthy in my life. I couldn't save my grandparents from what happened, but I am so grateful I found the truth out about how sick animal foods make us, and that I could convince my dad to try going plant-based/vegan, because it's saved his life and health, and because he listened and gave it a try my mum, my 3 older brothers and all their wives/spouses are trying it now, they love the food and they are so much healthier on it.
So I am asking you, don't listen to these liars who only want to line their own pockets with the money of the meat and dairy and pharmaceutical industries, half of them don't even look skinny/healthy and they will do everything they can and put your family into the ground selling you lies that eating drugged, sick animals are good for your health.
Look at Dr Neal Banard and Dr Mcdougall, they are good men who have been fighting this high-fat, low-carb animal-centric diet propaganda for years, give them a listen with an open mind.

Going starch based and vegan just like Dr. john mcdougall advised has helped my entire family. My grandmother is 100 yrs old and still active.
In Africa, most people don't eat as much meat as people in the USA.. our food is mainly rice, yam, beans... but the problem comes from using too many oils when cooking. If any african wants to lose weight, all they have to do is take the oil out of the foods when cooking and reduce animal products.

I'm not in the U.S. but I watched this video a long time ago and it's clear to see that Americans have been misled time and time again by the (health care) system. The population did what they were told. They were told to follow that pyramid with all the breads, pasta etc in high amounts and they did it. They were told to go low fat and...THEY DID IT. I've read so many comments with some people so confused that they don't know what the heck to eat but clearly there WAS a time when people had no struggle maintaining a healthy diet! I have no doubt manufacturers are working hand in hand with some of these same "officials" to push their own agenda and here's something else I think about all the time: The sicker people are...Who benefits from this? Ask yourself this question. I'm glad that they're still people like Dr. Jason Fung who seem to genuinely want to find a solution the problem. Unfortunately it's gonna be hard to suppress the "monster" that the system has "created". I’ve been doing keto for 19 months & am healthier than I’ve ever been in my life. I’m 53 & nearly four years removed from a triple bypass. I’ve been following all of the participants in this movie for the same amount of time but didn’t know this doc existed. This is by far the greatest tool that exists to spread the word to our families & loved ones. I wish Ivor & Dr. Berry could’ve been in it too but it’s still fantastic. No friends or family will listen to me but I’m not discouraged. I’m not going to have a crappy quality of life as I watch my grandkids grow & I’m more excited than ever about my future free of chronic disease & meds & ignorant, closed-minded doctors.

In the middle of christmas I had no energy, while I liked beeing with my family I was not in a good mood. I started thinking, is this how I used to feel? And came to the conclusion it was. I started eating keto again and never going back, after I got that wake up call off bad I felt going back.

My 12 yo little sister is struggling with obesity, so I brought her last week to a dietitian... And it was crazy, she told my little sister to eat a yogurt or cheese before eating and to have meat as snack... And she also told "you're just a child, you don't need so much vegetables" so... She just had to diminish carbs and sugar. She was like "if you want to have chocolate or Ice cream, you can have it, but don't eat bread at dinner, choose your sugar income" I am so grateful to see that dietitians are actually aware that the problem is not the fat but sugar !

I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents, therefore I was taught somewhat in all the learning of my father; and having seen many afflictions in the course of my days, nevertheless, having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days; yea, having had a great knowledge of the goodness and the mysteries of God, therefore I make a record of my proceedings in my days. Yea, I make a record in the language of my father, which consists of the learning of the Jews and the language of the Egyptians.
And I know that the record which I make is true; and I make it with mine own hand; and I make it according to my knowledge". 1 Nephi 1-3
Hello friends, I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The verses above are the first three verses in The Book of Mormon. I know this probably isn't the most ideal place to talk about religion but I really do want you to know that God loves you. You may not love Him or care about Him at all, but He still will continue to love you. You are a beloved son or daughter of God. He knows you personally and He truly and deeply desires for your happiness. He loves everyone who has every lived on this earth, with a perfect equal love regardless of their race, gender, ethnicity, faith and values and beliefs. The Lord loves you more than you can think or comprehend. "He inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile" 2 Nephi. He is our loving, caring Heavenly Father. We are literally His children and creations. When we were in the womb, he knew about us" Jerimiah 4:5. He knitted us and we were created in His image.
I testify to you that you and I are not a mistake. He knows the very moment when we stand and when we sit. He is familiar with all our ways and knows us personally who we are. The hairs on our very head are numbered. God loved us so much, He sent His Only Begotten Son for us, that we may be able to return and dwell in the presence of God again. The Lord has not forgotten about us even when it feels like He has. He will never forsake us. When we are happy, He and His angels rejoice alongside us. When we are sad, He heals us and lifts us up from our trials. He has always been there for us. He has always been our loving, compassionate Heavenly Father and God. Will we always be His children and people?
I testify to you that God lives and that Jesus is the Christ. Both love you exceedingly and rejoice when you are happy. They both love you so much. They love you with a love unfeigned. They will never ever stop doing good unto you. I know that The Book of Mormon is true. "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost". Moroni 10:4 I promise and testify to you, that if you will read The Book of Mormon, ponder on its message and ask God if it is not true, you will come to know of its truthfulness, whether its true or not true.
Remember my friends that God loves you with all his heart, might mind, soul and strength. He wants you to be happy. He knows what you are going through and dealing with right now. He desires for you to return back to Him. Unfortunately, He has been misrepresented and seen as a cruel and angry God who anticipates for us to slip and writes down every mistake we make waiting to punish us by those who do not know or know Him fully.
My friends, God has stored many opportunities and blessings for you. He is incredibly eager and desires with all His heart to bless you abundantly. He wants you to live with Him again. He only wants the best for you and your well being. He wants to experience everlasting joy and indescribable happiness in this life and in the life to come. He wants you to partake of His goodness and come and follow Him. The Lord does not care how early or late you decide to come unto Him. I testify to you that if you have strayed and wondered off the path that there is hope in Jesus Christ, The Savior of the world. The Lord accepts those who come unto Him whether your early, late or just in time who desire to change. The Lord will accept you wholeheartedly and forgive you if you are willing to change. The Lord will welcome you and will always be ready to embrace you with open arms. The Lord will lift us up in our trials and use us to bless the lives of those around us if we are willing to change.
If you desire to learn more, you are always welcome to visit comeuntochrist.org. There you will learn more about The Church of Jesus Christ and our core beliefs and values. If you have taken the time to read The Book of Mormon and this comment, thank you. It takes a huge leap of faith and a lot of courage to muster enough faith to read in the Book of Mormon and to believe in something in a personage that you may never see in this lifetime. Although we may not be able to see God and Jesus Christ in this life, I testify to you that they are real. They do truly exist. I promise you that if you will pray to know of their existence, you will come to know whether they exist or have been made up.
Remember that The Lord is always available to talk to through prayer 24/7. No question sounds too silly for Him. James wrote, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him" James 1:5. If you must know whether or not something is true or evil and deceptive, you can always pray to God. He will help you know what the truth is and what is not true. He will never be too busy to talk to. He will give you strength you need to overcome your temptations and will give you the strength you need to endure through your trials and afflictions. Paul said that The Lord will not give you temptations that you cannot resist, but that in your temptations, He will provide a way for you to resist and overcome them. He will provide a way. He wants to bless you and reward you abundantly. The Lord knows you and will not forget you. You are loved. You are utterly amazing. You have incredible potential. You are not forgotten or ever will be forsaken. You are special. You are unique. You have been reserved for this time and The Lord needs you on His side.
It simply would not be the same without you.
      Thank you for your time.

I’ve dabbled with being vegetarian and it honestly made me lethargic and the cravings were immense. I began researching keto and fell upon all the names in this documentary. I am still keto. Weather this diet treats type 2 diabetes is a different story. The way I see it, if you have exaggerated in your diet for many years consuming large amounts of sugars, you will probably have to exaggerate again and completely exclude them from you diet to treat the problem you created.

    To everyone questioning the video, let me offer some perspective;
When I was in my mid 20's, I began encountering many stressors in my life which exacerbated a very benign condition called ectopic heartbeats - skipped heartbeats. Knowing my grandpa passed away from heart disease, I began searching frantically for ways to prevent the disease in my own body. I was TERRIFIED of having a heart attack. When I looked up the mainstream dietary recommendations for preventing heart disease in 2013, I encountered dozens of websites saying ditch the animal foods, stay away from fats, only use olive oil, eat lots of whole grains, vegetables, and fruits. So, I stopped drinking milk (which I never had issues with) ditched most animal foods, started making lots of potato soups and rice stir fry's, and began making my own 100% whole wheat bread that I would literally grind myself. I also began drinking huge green shakes full of bananas, berries, kale, oats, almond milk, and various vegan protein powders.
Within days, my stomach began swelling up and I started feeling unwell. Acid reflux was not only a daily occurrence, but seemed to go on for hours and hours. The number on the scale began to climb, and even my wife began gaining weight, but I stayed the course because I was absolutely convinced what I was doing would make me healthy. "Maybe I just need to give my body time to adjust" I thought.
Over the several years that followed, I developed eosinophilic esophagitis to which the doctors proscribed a daily PPI for the foreseeable future because, "You don't really need stomach acid"
I gained 50 pounds even though most days I only ate a big bowl of oatmeal made with old fashioned oats, a bit of almond milk, a handful of frozen berries or a very ripe banana, and a few tbsp of ground flaxseed; and snacked on apples, celery, and carrots the rest of the day. I didn't have any stomach acid so these foods would literally sit in my stomach until I slept it off that night. Meanwhile my energy levels began to dip, I began experiencing blood sugar drops in the afternoons, and no matter how hard I worked out I couldn't lose any of the weight I'd gained. I tried multiple times to get off the PPI's, but the more I tried, the worse my reflux got. I just couldn't function without the drugs. I looked into the standard "acid reducing" diet and found countless recommendations for MORE oats, MORE grains, LESS fat, which I did to no avail.
When the pandemic hit, I began working from home and had full access to my kitchen instead of the fridge and microwave in the work breakroom. I thought to myself, "This is my chance! Maybe now I can finally get healthy and figure out how to get off my PPI's... but what should I eat instead of oatmeal everyday? Shouldn't I keep doing that to be heart attack proof?"
That's when I decided to try something different. Instead of my daily oatmeal, I decided to just fry up some spinach (which I'd never done before) and eat a few soft boiled eggs. I thought to myself, "I've been really good on my diet... a few eggs shouldn't hurt me, right?" I ate this way for one week and... my acid reflux began to dissipate.
But... how can that be?? Isn't fat, especially saturated fat the main cause of acid reflux? Yet here I was eating eggs and actually feeling a bit better.
That's when I began actually researching nutrition. I began looking up the health benefits of fat instead of the Dr. Esselstyne fat phobic approach. I went back and forth many times and yoyoed back and forth with my medication. I was very confused... one side told me fats and animal proteins were a death sentence, the other side was telling me carbs and sugars were the problem. Who was I supposed to believe? My anxiety around the topic only got worse. I began feeling paranoid and depressed. I felt sick and weak, yet when I would eat animal foods I would feel better... but WHY??
    That's when I found Dr. Mark Hyman. At first, his approach seemed so foreign to me - healthy fats?? Was he CRAZY?? But I slowly began ditching the grains, brought back my beloved cow milk, and yes even butter and bacon... you know what happened? My acid reflux got better and better and better. After meeting with a functional medicine practitioner for the first time, I was given an anti inflammatory protein powder and ditched all the medications I was on for good. I also found a nutritionist online who cured her EoE by following the 4 pillars of the human diet as taught by Dr. Cate Shanahan in her 2017 book, Deep Nutrition. Together with my FMD, Deep Nutrition, and all of Dr. Mark Hyman's podcasts and UA-cam videos, I can finally say that after a decade of searching, I've finally found a diet that's healthy, nutritious, and healing;
1 - Meat on the bone (especially those sourced from grass-fed & grass-finished, ethically raised sources)
    2 - Sprouted grains & Fermented foods
    3 - Organ meats
4 - Fresh food in season
Guys... I've done the research and I've done countless tests on my own body. I've been so sick I thought I was dying and I was once so confused I thought the answers would never come... but I believe a diet rich in healthy fats and low in carbohydrates and vegetable oils is the way to go. It took a long time for me to figure it out, but now that I have I'm never going back. I've largely healed my own body by going back to a more traditional diet. Instead of doing what all the "experts" say, try listening to your own body. If I had listened to my body's response to grains, carbs, and sugar sooner; I could have saved myself years of pain, sickness, and anxiety.
    Live well, and be healthy.

After eating food based on a low-carb diet, I can say that this lifestyle has changed my life positively 100%. Not only I can control my hypothyroidism but also I actually feel so much better in any way of my life (plus, losing some pounds and sizes :)). Even exercising doesn't seem like a struggle now because I feel energized. Best change ever!

I’m from Japan and the current dietary guidelines in the US are totally different from ours, it’s crazy. What US is starting to learn has been common sense in Japan for over 2000 years. We rarely see anybody overweight here. All of us should definitely learn from other countries and try recipes from different cultures. The older the culture, the better for the human body. I’m so happy for the people who are learning and becoming healthier!

I wasn't overweight, but always had a round belly when I was in the military despite running a ton (and much faster than the average person I was running with). The military diet had me always eating as much as I could - partially because of the food choices they served and partly because they limited us so much on eating in basic training (when we were burning massive amounts of calories) that it triggered me into feeling a desperate need to eat as much as possible every time food was available. It took me years to retrain myself how to eat more appropriately for my needs.

I started eating the same things that I eat when I was growing up in Mexico. No sweets no carbohydrates , our diet was mostly meats and animal fats we had a ranch so we had cows pigs chickens. Any way 18 months later I’m 135 lbs and I don’t take any medication, and I feel great 👍.

Just so you know - Any exclusion diet is not really healthy for you. I am glad that the keto diet helped you lose weight in a really short amount of time, but excluding carbs out of your diet is not healthy either in the long term.
I'd strongly suggest to reconsider and balance your diet when you reach your weight goals. Unfortunately - Being healthy is all about maths. You simply have to expend more energy than you consume. So being active physically is going to be the long term solution
