      Steak and potatoes are always better when it’s cooked on a fire and it’s all you brought! 😂

    Nice camping trip. Great beeing out in the woods and cutting stuff. That meal made me hungry 😋. Keep up the good work 🙂👍

    I haven't been car camping in forever .... but I also have an older ozark trail tent about 20 years old. They were good tents back then, just as good as coleman (which I also have a coleman about 40 years old). Now I mostly do backwoods camping and hiking .. so national forest, hiking camp to camp for the night, mostly try to use existing and designated locations. What that does is makes you pack way lighter ... because you have to carry everything you need for camp. Its always good for the soul to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and job and camping has always been it for me.

      I’m pretty sure my Ozark is around 20 years old too. I’ve been saying 10 years ago for about 10 years now! Time to accept the reality, I’m getting older!
      Just being able to not worry about anything but the fire, is good therapy for me.

      so many memories from your enameled eatery set .... I think everybody who has ever been camping owns those (I still have mine somewhere). I forgot to mention, I also have the even shorter more straight blade tramontina ... but I only own 1 of those so that tells you how well I like it. It still usable within its limitations, also great for hiking, but the bolo has more weight on the end and a slightly longer blade. Amazon says its a 14" blade but its only 13-1/2 as measured.

      @@sharpridgehomestead I love my camping dishes. The coffee mug is very well seasoned, even though you don’t need to season them. 😂 Just a little water and a wipe out every now and then😂😂

      @@soloproject99 i am def long overdue for some woods time myself ... these last few years have been pretty trying on me and I don't get to get outside as much as I used to. Hopefully this is the year of much needed change. Enjoy all the fires!

    Yeah..better get used to the weirdness. Soon everything will be automated/online & unless you have an internet ID complete w/ facial recognition etc then all such services & locations will be a no go.

      I expect that in some places now but a campground?! In the 20 years I’ve been going there, I’ve always looked forward to meeting the Ranger on duty. Where’s our “happy to see ya, nice weather for camping” park Ranger?! I mean, what if I chopped my dang foot with that bolo? Should I get on my phone to schedule an appointment for some first aid?😂😂

    Hey man I was wondering if the Tramontina 24 was a good starter machete to buy but other then that you make great videos and keep doing what your doing.

    • @soloproject99
      @soloproject99  Рік тому +1

      Well thank you very much!
      I think it’s a great starter machete! It’s the one I use every day. Shorter machetes tend to find their way to a new users leg. I’ve seen a handful of guys that now have scars to prove it. In this video, you can actually see me pull my leg back while chopping that long branch on the ground. Had it been a longer blade, it would’ve stopped in the dirt. Had my leg or foot been closer, it would’ve been a trip to the hospital!

    Great channel! I need an advice sir, what's your opinion about the best quality/price machete for chopping wood like one can do bushcrafting or batoning?

    • @soloproject99
      @soloproject99  5 місяців тому +1

      Thank you very much!! I appreciate you being here! I’ve tested a few machetes with those qualities and I guess it all depends on how large or small you’re looking to use. The Bodark Tool blades are a good quality steel that can take a beating but the handles are kinda funky. The Condor Golok is a much more comfortable handle but then a kinda funky blade. Bodark being the more affordable option for sure. I’ve left links on both of those videos if you’re interested. Check em out!

      The Ontario SP53 Bolo is pretty nice with a good 10 inch blade and about 20 ounces. Only problem is that Ontario closed recently. They sold off their stock, so you can still get some for a short while. This model is done in a very heavy 6mm blade. You can split some logs directly, or use it with a big striker log to baton. They made some similar models with different blade profiles. Some people like the bowie style SP5. The SP8 Survival Machete is a rectangular bar shape with a chisel end. They are all about 6mm thick and 20-22 ounces.
      They run around $70. Grab them before they're gone. Mine is in 5160 carbon steel, but most of the newer ones are 1075.
