Not a single person that worked for Elvis had a bad thing to say about him. He treated all his staff & his fellow people that performed with him on stage with great respect. That says a lot about the man. Not a single person has come out to say a bad word about him but all good loving memories of him.

I was a young black child in the 60’s. I loved Elvis I’ve seen EVERY movie he stared in when I was a kid a 100x over. I thought him to be the most handsome man on earth and Artist. My favorite movies in this order: Girl Happy, Girls Girls Girls, Jailhouse Rock, Clambake, G I Blues, Roustabout, Spinout, Speedway, Blue Hawaii, Viva Las Vegas. and It Happened At The World’s Fair and Fun In Acapulco and yes I own all of them on VHS. I never believe he was racist never! What sealed it with me about him his love for God. R.I.P. Elvis ❤️

I met Ms Mary at Graceland when I would go down to see Elvis. She was a sweet, kind and lovely lady. She had the prettiest smile. She really loved Elvis and she called him Mr. Elvis and he called her Mawee. She really had a lot of funny stories to tell about him. She never said a bad word against him. She and I always remained good friends. I wanted her to meet my son (Kenny Presley) so he and I went down there one week-end and actually stayed with her. She was an excellent cook. Before she died her request was that Kenny sing at her funeral. He told her if that was what she wanted he would be honored to do it. Kenny sang at her husband's funeral who preceded her in death. She was a wonderful lady with a big heart and if she told you something you could count on it being the truth. Kenny and I both loved her so much.

I think I might have seriously injured someone! Why did no-one take charge? Where were those people whe supposedly loved and cared for him? Buckley Jr. A couple of decades after Elvis passed away Buckley was given a private tour of Graceland and wrote a book titled "Elvis in the Morning". (I bet Spa Guy already knew that, though!)

It must have been a real struggle to keep that pressure up. Read somewhere that he got to the stage where he just wanted to retire to his ranch but the expenditure was so great he couldn't afford that lifestyle and had to push himself to keep bringing in all the income. I cannot see how anyone could think that Elvis was a racist, the man sang Black music for Gods sake people!! If you know anything at all about a REAL racist they certainly would not be singing the music of a race they despise. If you look at the Memphis Mafia none of them were black, however, most of the Memphis mafia were members of Elvis' family or guys he met in school. In those days, the school days, you did not have white and black kids playing together so it's easy to see why he did not have any school buddies that were black.
I also noticed that many of the comments are from people shocked that Elvis bought her a house. There are plenty of stories of Elvis buying homes, cars, trucks, motorcycles and all sorts of things for people. One guy met Elvis in Las Vegas and was admiring the belt Elvis was wearing, a few months later he received a package and it was that belt!
Elvis read a story in the local Memphis paper about a young disabled man living in his home taking care of his elderly mother. The man did not have a wheel chair and would literally be crawling around on the floor to do things for his sick and elderly mama. Elvis got the guys together and they went and purchased the man a brand new wheel chair. The story goes that Elvis and the guys went to the home with the new chair and it was Elvis himself who picked the man up off the floor and set him in the wheelchair... THAT shows you what kind of a man Elvis Presley was.

@@monaecoles1960 that attribution appeared in 1957, in an article by Sepia Magazine. A white owned sensationalist publication geared towards a black readership. You know why you've never heard of this mag? The main point was to stir blacks to get them to buy the magazine, yet offer nothing towards the deeper issues like the civil rights movement. They were playing on the fact that he was from the same town as a racist congressman (forget the name...) that the black community hated. That's it. They offered nothing of the circumstances where Elvis was alleged to have said this... Yet years later it still gets churned even though it has been debunked since the 60s at least. The quote did not appear in white publications that arguably would've advanced his early career in parts of the US.
It's a surprise for those that knew Elvis because his music heroes were black and he made the effort to 'go across town' to listen to black artists. There's even a 1956 picture of him talking to black reporter ladies backstage. No one in 1956 would've batted an eyelid if a Southern white boy had refused to be interviewed by blacks yet he gave them access....

Myrna and the other Sweet Inspirations all spoke very highly of Elvis. Their relationship was one of absolute mutual respect. Elvis was very knowledeable about gospel music (both black and white), and he was very well-read in the Bible. They would all hang out together in the dressing room, talk about the Bible, and sing spirituals and gospel songs. When Myrna married Jerry Schilling, a lot of the other people around Elvis did not approve (not all of the "guys" were as open-minded as he was), and that's one reason he bought them the house. He wanted them to know that he loved both of them very much, he approved 100% of what they were doing, and if anyone else didn't like it, they knew what they could do with themselves. Elvis had his faults, we all know, but rampant racism was not one of them.
Also, by the way, B.B. King, Bobby "Blue" Bland, Junior Parker, and other Black musicians whom Elvis met on Beale Street in the early days always spoke of how respectful he had been to them, even addressing them as "Mr.," which at that time was almost unheard-of coming from a white boy raised in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Bella B the whole racist claim started back in 1957 when Elvis was being interviewed by a black journalist who claimed Elvis said, “ The only thing black men are good for are buying my records and shining my shoes.” Elvis never made that ignorant statement and there’s no sound bite of him saying it. It’s all hearsay. Any black person who knew Elvis personally always spoke very highly of him. In fact, when Elvis was performing at the Houston Astrodome for the first time in 1970, somebody told Elvis to leave the black girls(The Sweet inspirations) at home. Elvis said they are part of my show. If they don’t perform, then I don’t.

Elvis had Native American Ancestry on his mother’s side. One of his first girlfriends before he became famous was black, he dated black women and had a relationship with one of his backing singers. He loved Soul Food but had to cut back because of ulcers and digestive problems and was put on a strict no spicy food diet, of course he didn’t stick to it. The guy who slandered Elvis as a racist had never even met him, Elvis had never been to the location where the conversation was said to have taken place. I would stake my life and my kid’s life when I say “ELVIS PRESLEY HAS NEVER BEEN A RACIST” It hurt me deeply when I was old enough to understand what had been said about him and it still cuts me deeply because it’s a FLAT OUT LIE but at least over the years people have learned the truth. Elvis refused to play to segregated audiences. His only vices in life were food and women, he never claimed to be a Saint, he never claimed to be perfect because only Jesus Christ was and is perfect. I’ve loved him since aged 5 and have all his songs on vinyls which were handed down to me and are insured. I transferred all his songs to my Itunes Library. I will love him until I take my last breath ❤️
