Richard's funeral story is 100% accurate. At that time, I was the Chief of Police in the town where Lamar is buried. The family hired the entire police department as security at the funeral. They expected a large crowd of Elvis fans to attend, but there were only about 15 people in attendance. I still have the funeral program from that funeral. The humor during the funeral made for the most unique one I've ever attended. The whiskey bottle was a high end Crown Royal that was Lamar's favorite. David Stanley was a very nice man and when he spoke, the whole room laughed at some of the stories. When they buried Lamar, they took 2 gallons of distilled water and poured them in the grave on top of his ashes to deter anyone trying to retrieve ashes as souvenirs. I was proud that I was in attendance for the funeral of a legend.
A legend? He was a hanger on who was gifted opportunities that he never would have had without his connection to Elvis. Of all the MM he spoke the most negatively about Elvis. He was the butt of a lot of jokes and his way of getting back was in the Goldman book. If you doubt that, listen to the interviews with the MM. He criticizes Elvis more than any of the rest and implies if Elvis would have listened to him, he would not have died. Really? His whole life was a gift from the day Gladys felt sorry for him and let him into the house. He saw an opportunity and inflicted himself on the Presley's for the rest of their lives.
Around 12 months ago the BBC and SKY ARTS in 🏴 aired a lot of the old documentaries including All The Kings Men earlier this year. I remember watching them back in the day. 🏴🏴🏴🏴♥️♥️♥️♥️🙏🙏🙏⚡️⚡️
This was very enjoyable; have always wanted to hear more about Lamar. Janice is still a very good looking lady! Fully understand Lamar was heck on wheels and most likely not the easiest person to live with, but that was part of the entire situation relating to Elvis. It was truly The Best of Times and the Worst of Times.
I loved when he talked about Gladys getting mad and how he got underneath the table with the peas. He said “ somebody had to eat” And when Elvis didn’t know who Arnold Palmer was. 🤣 Lamar was quick with things and how to direct Elvis. Well he tried too 🤣🤣
The interviews I saw, Lamar sounded bitter and jealous. I also saw incidents where Elvis always picked on him so I can see where there might be some bitterness. Too funny about the whiskey bottle!🤣
What an awesome video. I've also been intrigued by Lamar thru all the videos and documentaries I've seen him in. I know He Loved Elvis and Elvis Loved him. He was a straight shooter. Loved his sense of humor.
I thought all the Kings men was a fantastic insight into what elvis was like... Lamar was very truthful and real... I really liked him so RIP, what a brilliant life you had with elvis... Thank you spy guy...
You can hear Elvis on occasion call him "Fatty" from the stage as he wants the lighting adjusted, and on some rehearsal recordings. He sure never took it to heart because Elvis loved him, and he knew that. Thanks for the great work you do as always Billy. TCB, Marty D 😁
I always liked Lamar. When they showed pictures on the internet of Elvis a lot of the time Lamar was always in the background. This story was very interesting .
Didn't really know much about the Memphis Mafia guys who were around Elvis Presley. But Lamar sounds like he was really funny guy. We all have a sense of humor or should because life is too short to be serious.
Thank you Mr. Spa Guy and Mr. Trey...super sleuths. That was cool. You never disappoint when it is something with a Elvis connection or even about Elvis himself. Glad Elvis had a friend like Mr. Lamar. RIP Mr. Lamar Fike.
Love Lamar, he did a great quick Q. & A book. One particular comment made me laugh out loud and I reckon sums up how down to earth he was. Can't remember word for word as my sister has the book. He said that Elvis tried to use his belief of being able to heal on Lamar, who at the time had a terrible headache. After sometime of Elvis putting his hands on him he said to Lamar, 'does it feel better?' . Lamar answered 'actually its worse.' I don't think he did any sucking up
I’ve seen Lamar in several videos and I’ve always been impressed by him. Out of all the Memphis Mafia guys, he seemed to be the most intelligent, worldly, knowledgeable and honest. He also had a sharp sense of humor.
And he comes off as the loudest, and the most critical of Elvis about his weight, an issue he himself could never conquer. He may have been smart, but it was Gladys who let him in the house because he kept showing up and she felt sorry for him. He literally inserted himself into their family, he took advantage of the Presley's, and never left. Elvis kept him for whatever reason.
Hi Billy thank you again I mention one time in yr other vedios saying I never knew Elvis close freinds as the menfis Mafia" only of Elvis 'Australia knew.! Because back in the 60's and 70's .... Australia didn't perchase films clips and vedio clips of other Elvis from America , Australia only received Elvis Presley movies and Holha from Hawilli via satellite 1973 and the broadcast of passing of Elvis . I'm now knowing about the menfis Mafia guys now threw FBOOK media .Thanks Billy . From Sydney Australia Saturday 26/11/22 . Another year nearly nearby to the end for the new year . Sad now another menfis marifa member passing sad to hear there not here . I wounder how larma Fike feelings were when Elvis die 💔💝
Lamar implied Elvis was a paedophile in a documentary called All The King's Men. It seems as though Lamar had some type of grudge or hatred towards Elvis. I know one time Elvis pured water on him as a joke , which Lamar did not like and felt humiliated, especially as it was filmed on camera.
Great video, I always enjoyed reading or hearing the things Lamar would say about his time with Elvis, he was a great story teller in that. I could see why Elvis kept him around to tickle his funny bone, probably still doing that in heaven too !
This was a great vlog I liked Lamar he had a great sense of humour and elvis liked that and I think he had a lot of respect for him he said it how it was and elvis knew that he led a interesting life and he worked hard for elvis
Lemar was the most critical of all of Elvis' MM. His remarks are always negative and extremely critical. He inserted himself into Elvis' life by inflicting himself on Gladys/ She invited him in, and he kept hanging around. He was very heavy and he criticized Elvis for gaining weight? OMG! It's like he was getting back at Elvis for maybe teasing him about his weight. In any MM discussions he is the most negative. Elvis gifted him a great life. as he would never have received what Elvis gave so generously. The very least he could have done when Elvis died would be to shut his negative mouth up after Elvis died.
Richard's story about Lamar's funeral was fantastic and I can just see Lamar telling the attendees to kiss his a** on the way out! Lol! Richard can always tell such a great, vivid story! Thanks so much, Billy, for sharing this with us. It means a lot. I hope you and your family had a blessed Thanksgiving! Loads of love! 🥰🥰😎😎Rest in peace, Lamar.
Thank you so much for this really cool video. I very much appreciate your content. Videos like these are entertaining & memorable to folks like me. I am a huge Elvis fan, because of my Father. That is something we shared. God bless you, stay happy, and keep these wonderful videos coming...
Thank You Spa Guy Thank You again for the video Great Story!! Lamar must have been a Person with with a vivid personality and sense of humor Bless His Soul . As always we appreciate your videos. Arrivederci!
He turned up at. Elviss house way back in1955/6 as a devoted fan and was always devoted to Elvis in spite of many fall outs they really loved each other.
TY for this video, I have seen Lamar's gravesite and it is just as this gentleman described it. I am happy to hear it was a funny funeral...I think that is just as Lamar would have wanted it. I have read the book mentioned here and it was very obviously a hit job.
Great story. I always liked lamar. He did didn't care what he said, lol. He said what he wanted whether it was good or bad. . I luv him. Thanks for the story Bud.
Having watched a lot of videos posted about ELVIS by you and Trey and other channels about Lamar and the other ‘Memphis mafia’ guys they all did their best to look after ELVIS🙏🙏🙏⚡️⚡️. Lamar should have had NO regrets. He had wonderful life experiences and was worthy in entering those pearly gates of heaven and got to meet his buddy 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧😭😭😭⚡️⚡️🙏🙏♥️♥️🏴🏴
Richard seemed to describe Lamar to a tee. I have a ton of respect for the Memphis Maphia. How they were able to all be together for all those years and enjoyed as they did. And the difficulties they had trying to keep the most famous entertainer in the world from killing himself. I have been wanting to know more about Lamar in his final years. I would love to have Lamar’s son be interviewed. Also show the last homes of Sonny and Red West and how their last years were.
Hey Spa guy, love the video, you should do one with every Mafia member, is very nice to hear about the King friends. Thanks for everything you do for us!! Where’s the lives??❤️
Lamar is the one character that I personally think told the truth as he saw it with no exception!! Very understated and overlooked in my opinion! Met him in Nashville in the mid 90s. He had come to know Dewayne Blackwell and I was fortunate enough to be there in the studio that day. What a character!! He jokes about having a cat……🤷♂️
LAMAR said on, Elvis & the Memphis Mafia video(102minutes-see min. 8), he met Elvis at Sun Studio, introduced by Sam Phillip's. Said Scotty and Bill had just left. ...thanks Spa Guy, another interesting video.
A little strange that most the gang was alive and well when Lamar passed and none went to his funeral? At least that’s how I interpreted it. Out of all the memories and American history those boys made as a team and to think it ended like this! Just wow!
Great video Spa Guy and Trey ❤ I love to hear more about Lamar, maybe an interview with his son. The first book I read about Elvis was the Albert Goldman book, I felt like a peeping Tom, the book was a real shocker to me, I never realized at the time that Lamar was feeding these stories. Most recent I read Elvis and the Memphis Mafia in which Lamar explained that Albert made more of the story than it was and that he was not thinking straight because he needed the money. I believed him. The thing Lamar said struck me that his life was never the same after Elvis' died... that he saw him in his dreams and one time asked Elvis where are you know? And Elvis answered 'not in a place you would like to be Lamar', that sounded just so like Elvis. Anyway I think Lamar was a good soul.
I can see why Elvis kept Lamar around he sure was a character. Life is better with laughs.
Old Lamar..he was a real piece of work. Loved the story of his funeral. Thanks!
What an awesome video. I've also been intrigued by Lamar thru all the videos and documentaries I've seen him in. I know He Loved Elvis and Elvis Loved him. He was a straight shooter. Loved his sense of humor.
Another interesting gem from 'The Spa Guy' ...The best Elvis Archaeologist on this planet..
I thought all the Kings men was a fantastic insight into what elvis was like... Lamar was very truthful and real... I really liked him so RIP, what a brilliant life you had with elvis... Thank you spy guy...
Good job as usual Spa Guy. I went to Charlie Hodge funeral outside Huntsville and take flowers every year on his death anniversary.
I think a lot of Charlie Hodge!
I've always believed that Charlie was one of the genuine ones.

Agreed

I believe Lamar truly was loyal to Elvis and loved him. He hated the colonel and didn't care for dr nick. Just based on those facts, I like him alot!
Awesome work, Billy.
Thank You🙏🏻

Lamar sounds like a real character. No wonder Elvis loved having him around, he added much needed comic relief for everyone. I would’ve loved him too.
A great story Thank you forsharing

Great story. I always liked lamar. He did didn't care what he said, lol. He said what he wanted whether it was good or bad. . I luv him. Thanks for the story Bud.

I agree !! I think that Lamar was so interesting ! He was definitely intelligent and had a fabulous quick wit about him .
Very interesting?, just when we thought we knew everything about Elvis and his Mafia crew.
LAMAR said on, Elvis & the Memphis Mafia video(102minutes-see min. 8), he met Elvis at Sun Studio, introduced by Sam Phillip's. Said Scotty and Bill had just left.
...thanks Spa Guy, another interesting video.
Really cool Billy👍🏼😎
Great story, thanks for sharing 👍.
Lamar had the greatest lingo. God bless his soul.
Great interview
I loved this! Always wanted to meet Lamar but never got to. So glad to hear his wishes were carried out in the end.
Great story that I have never heard!
Thank you.
Very interesting story. Didn't know much about Lamar but knew who he was in the group.
A little strange that most the gang was alive and well when Lamar passed and none went to his funeral? At least that’s how I interpreted it. Out of all the memories and American history those boys made as a team and to think it ended like this! Just wow!
I just wrote about THE same issue. Very sand 😢
He wrote derogatory things about Elvis in his book.
Lamar Fike was my favorite member of the Memphis Mafia. He was hilarious and quick with the tongue. RIP Buddha....
Very cool, love Lamar he was funny & cool. T.C.B.
Lamar us smiling at you guys, can you imagine when he sees Elvis?
