Thank you so much for having that wonderful man in your show! Most of the time I like the people and subjects you choose, but I've always had particular, even fatherly feelings for Dynamo (I'm 65) and would have been really proud if he were my son. It must have been my subconscious that felt he was missing something. After seeing the show, I got the whole picture.

My eldest was obsessed with Dynamo and after I asked what he wanted for his 16th, he said “Dynamo to come to our house” I managed to find Dynamos agent and he agreed to come to our home. He stayed for ages and was such a beautiful young man, performing right in front of my son and his friends, amazing magic. We were allowed to video close up and we still have the tapes. That was 2006. Steven/Dynamo, you still have that exact same charisma and we all wish you every success for the future. You have a beautiful and magical aura 🙌🏽🤗

Hi I think you have gone through more than most,
And my opinion is that you are suffering more from loss
Than anything else, loss of your childhood, your father
Loss of the ability to do the things you used to do,due to your illness
Loss of the bond with your mother, the list goes on
Think understanding things that have affected you the most
Is the first step towards getting through the crap
I hope all goes well for the future

carnviore diet heals everything...from obesity, anxiety, depression, mood swings, brain fog, gut issues etc etc it's a longgg list of healing. Carnivore diet is a elimination diet that heals the gut, organs, brain etc.
channels: dr ken berry, shawn baker md podcast, kelly hogan, steak and butter gal, home stead how (he lost 100 pounds, got off all rx drugs and healed his depression), dante carnivore freedom (something like that), nutrition with Judy, dr chaffee and a ton more.
look into this if you have any health issues. you will be healed by eating meat, eggs, fish, shellfish, dairy.
channels for fasting: Dr Mindy pelz (vids 7 types of fast, what to drink on a fast, refeed on after fast), Dr Ken berry, Dr Jason Fung, Dr berg, Dr Eckberg etc
that body knows how to heal it's self....fasting allows this healing.
library will have books on fasting & carnivore. many start off with keto diet then move to carnivore.
cheers to good health everyone. take care

Sitting alone in your bedroom practicing slide of hand for thousands of hours isn't talent. It's a longing for attention motivated by loneliness. "Magicians" perform carrying pity on their shoulders, and this was never more apparent than with this guy.

@@michaelc3977 There's an element of deceit in there as well. You're literally tricking people into believing something that's untrue, for personal gain. It's sneaky at best, and has its roots in the old pick-pocketing days.

Thanks for being yourself. I moved to London about 11 years ago. I always hoped to meet you on a street performing some magic like in one of your series. Last year, in one of the most unexpected times for me and most unexpected place, while walking out on a street outside my house, you saw me wearing a Dynamo sweater I bought during your tour years ago, and you stopped me and smiled at me. You pulled over your car, came off and showed yourself like the most humble human being I ever met. It was one of the most amazing times in my life. I could barely say something to you so I was shocked while shacking your hands. Please stay strong! You let us dream everyday! Thanks for sharing your story. ❤

As a girl born and raised in Bradford I can really understand a lot of what Steven says. I was bullied so much by people bigger than me, I loved school and learning but was called out for being a know it all, my friends were targeted too and at times the teachers had to drop me off home after school because of how bad it was. The estates in Bradford were full of criminals and was hard to go out without being drawn to it, thankfully my Dad got me and my brother out of there when I was 15 and now we've grown up and have great lives. Cant say the same for the bullies and a lot of the others who got involved in bad stuff but you become who you hang around with.

This lad is not bullshitting, he speaks the whole truth and we are proud of him.
I remember him as that kid and that kid came across all kinds of adversity, he worked his way out of it, he faced every challenge all the way to the top. I knew his dad from back then, not as a friend but as a figure that was always looking for money or ways to make easy money instead of getting a job, he never came across as a bad, evil, violent person because he was well liked but he wasn't to be trusted and a front to get what he wanted, he was weak and lazy. I didn't know about the abuse to his mum N.
It was sad to know that he only wanted to reunite with his son for alternative reasons other than to be proud of him.
I used to see him hanging around the city square before he died and he was the same as he always was, a chancer and a shit father, luckily Stephen he had a great family behind him.
I'm sad that Stephen felt the need to end his life because of the things that happened later on in his career and health but he really is a strong minded man that has gone on to inspire thousands of people, he is a lovely guy.

Stay away from black magic kids, Islamically even trickery like card tricks is a form of magic. Suicide is from the devil and when you do stuff like black magic you are with the devil and thus become depressed suicidal all sorts. Stay with your lord the creator of the heavens and the earth. This is merely tricks taught my the devil and spells. With many dark sacrifices and evil to get more tricks and spells.

I haven’t yet finished the episode and I’m so profoundly moved. He says he’s only really good at magic…. Yet he has a wife who loves him. Hes eloquent and resilient and brave in his vulnerability in a way that is so effing powerful actually. While he may feel one way in his body and I empathise and never want to invalidate that experience, right now how he’s expressing himself is big, powerful, charismatic and inspiring. He’s still a wielder of magic to have come through that darkness and hold a candle for others to see. What a badass.

On my drive to see him everyday after work the anxiety built to a physical pain. The only way to get back to sanity was drinking & drugs. I'm sure that sounds crazy to some people but it made sense to me at the time. I repeated the same day for months, anticipating & waiting for death. It did however give me lots of empathy for strangers as you just never know what someone is going through but yet still going about their 'normal' life

If you put yourself in his shoes, and really listen to the part where he says he's never spoken like this outside of therapy, we see the courage in doing so in the public domain. What a genuinely lovely guy, and sooo talented. I'm so sorry for what he or anyone else is going / gone through. I suffer mental health issues myself, on a different level but i can relate. One thing you should never be is ashamed, when you have that mindset you have to remember its an illness and for the most part you really lose any ability to control your actions or think about how they will affect people. Unless you experience it its hard to explain i guess. I'm sincerely happy that you have come through the other side, and hopefully a stronger person. It IS ok not to be ok. One thing to note is, its not the end you CAN get through it. The most important thing to remember is you are not alone, and the second is to speak out, ask for help....

  • @Hummingbird25

Dynamo’s mindset is in many ways understandable. He’s been through repetitive complex trauma since childhood to adulthood. Having a absent dad, no father figure presence, being biracial, being bullied, isolated, early financial insecurity, having major health issues, a near death situation, legal battles, fear of losing your career, daily stress, losing your loved ones is a heavy burden to live through.
It becomes hard to see a way out. The lesson in his life is that we are valuable despite how the world shows up to us. Despite the way people have treated him, he doesn’t have to accept it and honor it. He is unique and that’s what makes him a star at what he does.
So many people don’t have that kind of creativity, passion, drive and skill to succeed the way he did. The light is within him to help him lead the way forward. He’s already created something out of nothing. May the universe now show him the love, acceptance and abundance he so deserves.

The realist conversation I've ever heard about mental health. Dynamo - You are so strong and such an amazing person, not just for your honesty here, but for battling through your illness and continuing to face every day. You should never feel guilty about any support you've needed from your partner, friends and family. I feel that you do. You will help so many people by sharing your story. Nobody should ever feel they are alone if they are suffering with mental health issues. I can't say how much I respect you for this.

This highlights such a big problem in society right now, it's a pandemic level of mental health issues. I see it now everyday and not just one or two people, there are many and all ages. It's sad to see this level of issues, and I think it comes down to how we all perceive what people think of us as the most important thing in the world. To have an identity or to fit in. Thank you Steven for sharing this story and I wish you all the best in life. You are a genuine nice person who deserves so much better. Sometimes life isn't fair or nice to us, but becoming a stronger person and surviving, overcoming these challenges. At the end of the day as long as your still here on this earth, your winning the race of time. I've had some outright low points in my life too, happens to everyone. But sticking it out and finding/seeking a solution problem solving, that's what we as humans can do. Positivity is key!

Opening your eyes to the world around you, taking an interest in it and not being so self-absorbed is even more key! Being given the encouragement to learn and do that as a child helps with balance throughout one's life. It's every adult's job to encourage children to look and wonder. What a fine job a magician does.

Steven resonated on such a deep level with me, I had a 'calling' when I was still at school to pursue my career- working with young people in the care system, being a challenging young person myself, and being dyslexic I was a tragedy of full time education, but I managed to turn my life around at a young age to pursue my 'calling', needless to say to gain my degree it was a hard slog, but I did it, along side which I did an awful lot of voluntary work to gain some experience and to get some references in the field under my belt. I then developed Fibromyalgia, which took my life away and my career too. Living with chronic pain is so debilitating, and you loose so much in the process, money isn't everything but its also such a hard land slide when you go from being comfortable and looking after your family and those around you, to being the one that needs looking after it feels humiliating.
Your a special human being Steven, thankyou for sharing your story and making yourself vulnerable to help other people, its so important for young men to hear these stories from such inspiring role models. I wish you all the best in your new journey - I'm off to buy a copy of your book. Much Lurve Lisa xx

What a great episode, I really felt for everything he was saying, it felt so raw and real. This stuff is so important, and I love how accessible it is for people see others being vulnerable, and help normalise the fact that for many people, life is a struggle. The fact that these people are often celebrities helps us see that we're all just people, nobody is immune, regardless of how adored, hated, rich, poor, famous or anonymous they are.

What a fantastic video clip, i can clearly see Steven's pain in his eyes, the fact that he is opening up about his mental health is testimony of his healing, your a lovely human, than in its self with all the troubles in this world is a shining light for all to aspire too, keep going Steven, life is a journey and the route we take may not always be the right one, but if we can learn from it, its then worth the journey. Bless you, and stay strong

What a fantastic interview, Steven is incredibly humble and candid about his journey so far and the challenges he has had to endure. As a Crohns sufferer, I can relate to his suffering of this horrible and often debilitating disease, it truly can tear your life apart and make you face physical pain and mental lows that your previously never knew existed. He has clearly suffered a lot, both physically and mentally, thankfully he is a fighter and managed to overcome his darkest moment. I wish him nothing but the best, he is an incredibly talented, humble and honest human being and the world is a better place with him with us, I hope he continues to have the loved ones around him continue to support him.
Additionally, I applaud Stephen Bartlett for his handling of this interview, his professional, sensitive, empathetic, yet probing approach to explore the areas of Steven’s journey that can help to serve so many others watching this podcast, very very well done!

You can see quite clearly that Steven/Dynamo is quite nervous and uncomfortable talking about himself and other personal subjects, the anxiety is quite clear.....until he starts to perform his magic, then a more relaxed demeanour takes over, a hidden confidence starts to take over and he becomes someone else.
