Yes i can confirm because i've played both versions and mobile had simplified mechanics even when you used a controller for it just like the remaster along with the on screen buttons but the strange part about that is when you use the controller on mobile a small fraction of it is seen like phone calls the gym etc, and the remaster has the thing by default with the addition of full touch controls shown by the click of a button.

No, they still have the original code. But it really isn't very useful. It was made for machines that no longer are used and wasn't at all made to be expandable. If the Crash trilogy or the Spyro trilogy had tried to just build on the original code it would have turned out badly too. However Toys for Bob knew that so they remade the game from scratch and it's what Rockstar also needs to do with GTA.
The holes in the cars are a result of shadow faces. As you can see, every one of these holes appears at the top of an inset in the mesh. That's where a shadow face was displayed, a black semi-transparent face that was emulating a shadow. Now, any part of the car past the semi-transparent is not rendered. The hole is a little dimmer than the world behind it, because of the shadow material on the face.
I thought it was because of back face culling, especially after it was mentioned in the video, it's known, that rockstar messed up a lot of 3d models in the 3d era
@@silentwraith3464 I’d presume it’s the rendering order. Normally translucent materials should be rendered at the end (on top of everything else rendered). Because windows work normally, I think alpha flags still work. For optimisation, when faces obscure some other geometry, it won’t even render what’s not seen. When alpha flags are set, transparent materials are exempt from this rule (i.e. other materials behind these faces are rendered) but are then subsequently overridden with alpha materials (can be a solid alpha throughout or an alpha map). For this, transparent surfaces need to be processed and rendered last on the object only. This way other objects in front can obscure it, but the object itself cannot.
@jbiehlable Sounds like Hanger 13 should shut down and cancel Maifa series because of this. It's a 2020 game, yet Hanger 13 didn't bothered to give vehicles an undercarriage? Watch_Dogs Legion have fully complete undercarriage, EVs even have warning stickers on the undercarriage, just like real life EVs.
Its a shame considering how iconic this game was back then. New gamers that hear about how great this game was will probably end up trying one of these versions and then they won't fully understand what made this game so good! There was so much potential to make a proper remaster, but instead they tarnished the name!
Yea true I recently got it on sale on ps5 before they removed it, it’s so good I’m glad I could play it for the first time even if it’s a little weird to get use to the controls
I can only imagine how frustrating it is as a developer to see graphics and presentation that you crunched on being completely broken in a sloppy “remaster” for modern consoles. Fantastic follow up video to your other one!
Even tho original had it flaws, but the so called "remaster" had more issues than the original game released. Way to call it a "remaster" "re-release"...
Funny you should say that Remember Halo CE PC gearbox port? And the fact that Anniversary used that game as a base? Thank goodness it was recently fixed, otherwise we the pc gamers would have no idea of how the original was supposed to look like.
The aircraft shadow is an interesting one. Here’s my old man story. Towards the end of the PS2 era developers began to understand that the player needs something to telegraph where they’ll land in platform games. The fix was to have a forced shadow directly underneath the player so they could see where they were landing while in the air. In GTA SA they used this on the aircraft, so a duplicate shadow will be made always cast directly under the vehicle regardless of how light/dark or where other shadows are cast from. It’s an interesting and subtle game design mechanic that you’d not notice unless pointed out, but Nintendo uses it all the time. It’s even in GTAIV and V, try landing any aircraft in Vice City without it though. That’s why the shadows appear when you enter a flying vehicle, it’s a duplicate to assist in landing which disappears when you get out.
Most recently I noticed something similar in Psychonauts 2. Raz casts a normal angled shadow like in most modern games. However when you jump another shadow will appear directly below you to help with platforming/positioning which is nice.
Towards the end of the PS2 era? Really? The forced shadow underneath the player or a vehicle to judge depth has been present and implemented in PS1 games!
Nintendo? NINTENDO!? WHAT THE HELL!? THAT CURSED COMPANY THAT MAKES SIMPLE PORTS OF LAST-GEN GAMES AND CHARGE FULL PRICE FOR IT!? It's Rockstar, alright?

Lame. If the devs release a game and charge almost 100$ I'd expect the game to be almost perfect. The whole "they patched it now so it's good" is so wack. Plus it just takes away the soul of the game if they just keep "updating" the game year after year. 18/11/2024
@@itsporter Exactly, just like the Silent Hill fog, but at the same time it's exactly those limitations that made them get creative to build an atmosphere, what's the point of making "better textures" if it looks worse than the original version?
But besides that, CJ can't actually get out of the car without closing the door. This causes the game feels a little bit slower than the original version. All of that are caused by a mistake of Rockstar to hire a developers that are so lazy just to port a game control mechanics.
You know what made me do a 180 degree turn from buying the definitive edition? It's basically the remastered version with better graphics and a gta v weapon wheel.
its pretty sad to see how many adjustements the mobile port had when they were working on that compared to how lazily done this remasterd port is, it basically tells you which one they had more faith/expectations in knowing will sell more copies
To be fair, the mobile version has everything to sell better than the console versions. There are certainly more people with phones than consoles, and most console players would rather get a new AAA game instead of an old one. Right now in my country GTA V is cheaper than this GTA SA remaster on the Microsoft Store. This is no excuse for the laziness though.

The reason for not being able to swim faster in the console versions is due to the fact that, as you mentioned, in order to simplify swimming in the mobile version, you only hold the swimming button and can't swim faster by rapidly tapping or anything. Thus they ported the mobile version to consoles without adding that option to swim faster.

The PS2 version (and its original PS2 classics port on PS3) are hands down the best versions of the game. PC port and this new remaster might have better resolution, but that's pretty much it. When you play the PS2-version like it was originally intended to be played, with a smaller CRT television instead of a 60" 4k flatscreen, the smaller textures and lower resolution do not matter, but then you have all the cool effects and lighting that gave the original version its own atmosphere and hid its graphical shortcomings. PC port and this new remastered version look hideous and cold, as if everything is plastic.

12:27 This change really annoys me with the forklift because there’s absolutely no reason that CJ should have to raise the forklift ALL the way up just to pick up a box, and then slowly put it back down. He should just be able to pick it up a little bit off the ground, then set it back down. There’s no need to raise the boxes that high. The whole thing takes twice as long because of it.
No its not. dont blame developers. Its managements doing 95% of the time they are the ones to blame. rushing games out before they are finished. devs just have to get the game as close to playable as they can before its ripped from their hands and thrown out to the market then take 90% of the blame. remember Rockstar management signed off on this version getting released.
There are devs that still produce high quality products. Rockstar every 10 years, Ubisoft (except for unity they don't really have too many bugs or glitches in their games), Blizzard, Valve just to name a few.

The amusing thing about the various props on the map (breakable trees, rocks etc.) is that as a SAMP player, you practically never see them anyways as they're not part of the map over there. I have been playing SAMP for 5 odd years and I forgot that the game even had those details in, I started thinking that the game map was always this empty and bland. This applies to a lot of the other small details aswell (blurry screen when speeding, heat effect etc.)
at least the controls seem to be non-simplified. there's a video of the intro mission, and the hint does say to hold x to accelerate and press it rapidly to speed up when getting on a bike
About the interiors without the shadows: The developers most likely forgot to re-bake those shadows in, which is why the interiors look completely "flat" or "fullbright" as what they're called. Just all around laziness.
They're actually their own independent texture on PC & PS2. So they either don't render correctly (perhaps also incorrectly culled) or they're not even present in the game files.

Stuff like this is why I kind of DON'T want a GTA4 remaster. I'm terrified of what they might screw up. I adore GTA4, it's my favorite in the series, and I'll admit to being lukewarm to cold toward SA at the best of times, but SA sure as hell didn't deserve this. It was a mind-blowing game for its time, and still impressive to this day, even if I prefer the other PS2 games, as a whole. This utter slap in the nuts is the equivalent of GTA4 turning 10 years old and having its soundtrack gutted while having little-to-zero fanfare or acknowledgment from Rockstar... OH, WAIT!
I personally never cared too much about SA. I think it was overbloated with a bunch of stuff to do that was quite boring rather than having focused, fun content. Quantity over quality. Quite frankly, I loved Vice City and I really enjoyed GTA 4. Can't say the same about SA.
Cant wait for you to tear apart "definitive" edition as well once it comes out. That version gives me the same feeling of misguided approach of how to remaster classic game because from what I've seen it looks trash and uninspired compared to the og version.

@@F_Arrow95 It's actually a little bit worse than the original, sometimes it stutters and it drops down to low 20's (most noticeable while speeding through the city in a sportscar), could be due to the upscaling though, as the frame drops also happen in VC and III. I played them on a CUH-2100 Slim PS4 model back when they were ''released'' to the platform, haven't checked if they actually run better nowadays (due to system firmware updates etc) though. But they were always capped at 30fps nonetheless because that's what the original PS2 version was coded for.

Normals facing the wrong way?
@jbiehlable Well missing undercarriage isn't as much noticeable than missing/broken parts showed on the video.
Its a shame considering how iconic this game was back then. New gamers that hear about how great this game was will probably end up trying one of these versions and then they won't fully understand what made this game so good!
That’s why the shadows appear when you enter a flying vehicle, it’s a duplicate to assist in landing which disappears when you get out.
and since the original shadow doesnt exist, you can only see the duplicate in remastered version
@@Krim4444
Correct!
Most recently I noticed something similar in Psychonauts 2.
Raz casts a normal angled shadow like in most modern games. However when you jump another shadow will appear directly below you to help with platforming/positioning which is nice.

What makes u think gta 4 will have remastered
@@amarson2322 Exactly. If you want a remastered version, just play it on the Series X
@@CureCryptic "if you want GTA SA remastered just play it on PC with mods"
What does gta 4 need besides better optimization and a bit of retouching on the textures and colors
As always with these comparisons, I'm left with new appreciation to how impressive the originals are, visually and mechanically.
@no no no *disappointed
Cant wait for you to tear apart "definitive" edition as well once it comes out. That version gives me the same feeling of misguided approach of how to remaster classic game because from what I've seen it looks trash and uninspired compared to the og version.
Make sure to cover the SA definitive edition
This makes me worried they will just do a hack job and not be the same I went from day 1 buy to getting gta sa on gamepass
I wish there will be a "Silentpatch" mod for mobile version with all the bugs in this topic video fixed.
@Him bugs may be strong but the community is stronger
Keep wishing lol
PC OG is the best version with all of the fixes and missing PS2 features moded.
@@diegolink42 I agree, but I would also say even vanilla PC version looks way better than the "remastered" versions.
Ironically, one developer of the War Drum Studios praised this mod
For some reason when you lock on someone that is above CJ and then Shoot CJs arms shoot forward as if he's shooting in front of him
Btw this bug occurs for two handed weapons like assault rifles
Get ready for another part to this series
God I love how that explaining why the remaster is trash takes literally more than one hour, that is the exact time I would take too to explain it to anyone who asks.
Don’t you’ll have no friends
Holy shit, I just played SA for the first time, so glad I went with the original (well, the PC version) and not the "remaster"
never too late to play it huh
hope you are having fun, mate
Pc version is worse than the original version best getting it on ps4 or ps2
dont forget about samp
@@andy.m.97 Well I mod the game to look exactly like the original PS2 lol
I feel bad. Vadim wasn’t even done talking about the issues of the 360 and PS3 remaster of SA and a couple months later there’s an even more infamous remaster of *three* games

"What?"
"Oh, just ballas trying to kill me."
About the remastered bug in 16:04
You don't actually have to hold it down, just press it once and it will activate.
I will edit if I find more things.
Looks like I dont have to edit, somebody else already noticed what's the other flaw in this video is.
@@WorlWyrm where?
@@TheUnknownEdits23156 this was a year ago, I couldn't find that comment now unfortunately
By those reasons, I'm super terrified of the "rumored" remaster of 3, VC and SA. I'm pretty sure R* is gonna mess up and leave many bugs like this.
And it is also coming for mobiles so ya
If rockstar is going to do it, then it's fine, until they mess up worse than wardrum themselves
@@WorlWyrm leaks says that they are also coming for mobiles I just don't know WHYm
@@solidbhatt if the new remaster is actually a remaster, then I'd love to go back to the beggining and 100% the game again.
It’s going to be a mobile port LMAO
For one second I read the tittle as "GTA SA - Remember Why is Garbage?"
I was about to send you a hitman.
This vid was worth the wait. Very epic and enjoyable. Ofc it was Informative too. Also Vadim do you care to show us the "Secret Stuff" (40:24) you have?? Haha
11:33 I like how those peds were casually walking around when there's armed man shooting his rifle

Busta CJ back at his antics again 😂

Bruh i just found out that the definitive edition remastered the mobile version instead of the original, lmfaooo im dead
For real?? 😂 I knew this definitive edition shit couldn't be trusted. R* disgusts me these days
who told you?
@@EdwardLopez2x There's literally a proof that the new definitive ports came from this mobile ports. Someone can trigger a button option selection on definitive just like on mobile where it starts after you play a new game.
I’m glad that I got the PS2 Classics version of the game on my PS3 while it was still available.
Instead of being a remastering of the game for the PS3, it was literally just a port of the original PS2 game, largely unchanged.
It wasn't a port, it was the actual PS2 version of the game just running on the built-in PS2 Emulator from the PS3.
Are there any differences between the ps2 version on the ps3 and ps4? Apart from trophies on the ps4.
@@F_Arrow95 No, it's the same exact thing. PS3 and PS4 just emulate the PS2 version, the PS4 emulator just tries to upscale it to 1080p while it's doing so. Same for Vice City and III.
@@NewRodin I see. I thought I read something about the ps4 version improving the framerate.
Just rewatched part 1 and thought about when part 2 might be released. Well here it is. Great work as always!!
This absolutely TERRIFIES me about the new "trilogy remastered" rumor that's been going around. If it turns out to be true i will get my hopes really low just in case.
Maybe if the same studio is the one tasked to do this, but rumors say it is R* Dundee so if it really comes out, atleast it isn't like the current remaster.
The PS4 version ported the PS2 version and while it's not quite as good it still avoids all the pratfalls from the Xbox360/PS3 version.
@@kapitan7357 Sony does what others don't.
@Jefferson Lopez I read some from the forums that strongly suggests it might come out. Well, if its not coming out then I'll just go on to continue with my life lol.
Can't wait for you guys to tear apart the "definitive" edition
