Excellent video Gino :) bet every year different on plow , seeding depths in ground take lots testing to till approved by farmer too wants too and bet challenging on types of ground dirt types too! Boom 💥!
Those moldboard extensions let you know when the moldboard is worn too thin. It breaks off but it will help put the grass under. I remember the moldboards had the holes punched in to attach them. Now people use the extensions on the top and up front where the shin is. I'll be honest I put grease on the nuts behind the plow. It makes it easier remove and replace the plow shares and shins. My torches were usually empty when I needed them to cut a rounded square head plow nut. That 14 inch was a beast and it shined up quicker. I think the 12 inch was one notch away from being perfectly adjusted. I guess with showing your different red power you will never truly set up your plows just by feel and what works over acres of use.
Gino, been many years since I plowed with our cub. Not sure what year it was but I was told it was the first year with hydraulics? I remember it plowed very well in 2nd gear with the original rear tires loaded with front and rear weights. I believe the rear tire size was 7-24? we cut one beyond repair and couldn't find that size anymore, so we put a set of I think 8-24's on it which held more calcium and it changed the gear ratio just enough that plowing in 2nd gear was a little too fast and it hurt for power in certain ground but first gear was to slow to roll the furrow. I also remember throwing the depth control lever forward when the plow first entered the ground for only like a foot maybe 2 then pulling it back to the depth you wanted, it was not easy to pull back but if the ground got hard you pushed the handle forward a click or 2 to go deeper. Nice video! we still have our Cub but we haven't used it in years.
If you was to install the Colter it pull easier and you wouldn't get as much of that trash catching up on the beam I always set my Colter two fingers behind the point of the plow shear and two fingers up 😊. Let me know what you think about this
Yes it would do a much better job. It would cut the ground instead of ripping it. It would make a much nicer furrow, and turn more of that trash under.
There is no plow that super C can't handle whether it's a 12 or a 14-inch that the tractor has pulled to it, and that's why I believe in international tractors and red power. It definitely has pulling power
The little cub seems more powerfull than its sounds from its specs 😅. But i would have a question for you, I just happen to have bought a French production Farmall Cub from 57 ( i'm from Belgium) and did search for the operations of the Diff Lock wich i didn't found. I have to other Tractors, one from 1954 , the other from 1962 and obviously European make, and both of them have Diff locks as standard equipment. So here's the question: was there a Diff Lock on the Cub's, mounted optional or standard equipment? If yes where would the control lever for them be? I mean while plowing it could be needed depending on soil condition, so i don't think they would have leaved them out.
@@FarmallFanatic Thanks for you reply and clarification. I would have thought that it could be maybe optional equipement at worst on a tractor from that time arround. It seems that i've been wrong in my assoumption. Never the less its still a fascinating lite machine. We're still occupied with repainting and rewirering the whole tractor and i'm waiting to hear its little engine purring like cat.
I wanted to know your thoughts on adding liquid "water/antifreeze" to rear tractor tires for traction. I know you mentioned adding wheel weights, so I did not know if that was a better alternative. You do a lot of plowing, so I just wanted your thoughts.
I was taught that whatever the the width of your plow only plow 1/2 the the width of the shear. Then of course be sure to match plow to tractor and set it up properly.
@@FarmallFanatic working on it but down south here they are hard to come by. I'm looking for a 1960 cub at the moment and my friend is looking for a 130
Now then Gino on that 12in before it rains on it and it gets all rusty again. Take your putty knife in a wire brush and clean it up get yourself some cheap spray paint and hit a coat or two in the next time you wanted your plow 10 feet and it will shine again
Great video but a lot of people don’t know what a 12 and 14 is and how to measure a plow I have a 14 and went to look at a 12 and it was actually a 16 people have no idea what they have so can you show how to measure a plow thanks
I did better then the super C atleast it wasn't rare up in the front that's the bad thing about those super C they got a lot of power but the big tires is too much for the front end
That cubby is one tough tractor!
Hello Deb, how are you doing. where are you from
and how is the weather over there?
I don’t know what it is about your videos but I just makes me warm inside
Gotta be the 💥Boom 💥
I'm impressed. Had no idea the Cub could boogie like that with a plow.

Looks like the ideal rig for garden work. They were a popular tractor in the area of Northern Lorain Co. where I grew up.
Oh yea perfect garden
Great video brings back a lot of years for me now .
Thanks so much God bless
That's awesome you got it lined out ! It was a plowing beast out there . Thanks for sharing and have a great evening !
Great video! The cub looks like a lot of fun to plow with. 👍
Glad you got it figured out!!
Me Too! What a handy little tractor..
That little tractor will do about everything ! I want one 😁🇺🇸
You definitely do
I knew you wouldn't rest til you got it. Looking really good.
No definitely no rafter the first time

Good idea
I knew that Cub could do better. Glad you got it dialed in.
When you changed to the 14 inch thought it actually looked like a much better furrow🤔👍 Cubs Revenge Red Power 💥💪👍
Yeah it did

They were great tractors then and they were great tractors today
That cub has got red pulling power and muscle under the hood 👍👍👍💪💪💪💪
Nice. Hope to see how you prep the field for planting.
Are your apple tree’s blooming and doing well this spring? That trimming video was pretty cool.
Yeah they're doing good actually hoping they don't blossom yet because we aren't out of the woods on a freeze
If you had wheel weights on the back, that would incredibly make a tremendous difference wheel weights
I agree
Great stuff FF, nice days for spring tillage. Cub revenge is best served deep 😁keep crushin it hoss💥🇺🇸💥

Thank you I haven't lost all of my mine yet
Go cub go! Boom!
Gotta appreciate the old tech and the fact that it worked then, annnnd it'll still accomplish the tasks today!
They were ahead of their time
I wish they still made them, they were great tractor for small and medium garden.
No doubt
The little tractor that could and did...and still does! RED POWER IN 1955...RED POWER IN 2023.
You got that right
Look at that cubbie plowing... nice...
Doing good! Only gets better the better it gets skawled….or as you say polished 😢
As the old Schlitz commercial said----go for the GUSTO!!!
I remember those commercials

Oh yeah
The Cub's gear train noise can be quieted somewhat by adding a can of STP to a replacement of 90w-140w.
You are correct
The little cub seems more powerfull than its sounds from its specs 😅.

Cub does not have differential lock... That was probably a european option
When plowing you just use the brakes

1 bottom all polished up. Big difference from the 7 bottom in last video. 55 55 🚨💥👍🍻
I was gonna try the seven bottom but....
How long to plow a acre you think
That is a good question I was having so much fun but if I had to guess I would say I could plow an acre in an hour.
@@FarmallFanatic good garden plow but wouldn't want to sit in that seat for 150.
Now she's slicing and dicing!!
You know it

55’s is a rocking!!!
Wow that ground looks super wet
Not at all
I would like to see you're A tractor pulling a harrow.. If you have one..
You mean a spring harrow
@@FarmallFanatic yes indeed
I was taught that whatever the the width of your plow only plow 1/2 the the width of the shear. Then of course be sure to match plow to tractor and set it up properly.
Yeah that's a good general rule of thumb..
Rule of thumb on plows is cut depth is half the width of the moldboard. 12" board= 6" depth, etc.
Yeah that's a general rule of thumb
Looks like you have it set to 110 percent.
I just picked up a 55 with fast hitch for my wife. Need to find a plow for it now
Well you've done the hard part
Thanks, thats the the way I've seen them plow.
Red power !!!!!!!!
💥Boom 💥
Great food plotter
Definitely
Move that tire on the inside of the center and use that coulter
One thing at a time I definitely will.
Put the colter on,it will make the plow pull easier. The furrow will be cleaner.
I have since this video
That works well!
The Cubski comes through.....!!!!!
Is powerful
Im on vacation next week can I come over and play with that cubby for a while
Yep lol
Fiddy five likes to plow dirt and snow!
It's a little beast
Red Power 💪🏼❤️ fiddy five fiddy five
And that's why I have two cubs!
Me too well actually I have three

Doing great for a 10 horse power house. Scoured up nice too. I would have a great day on that old girl.
For sure!
What state and County do you reside?
Pennsylvania that's plenty of information

👌👏👍👍👍
💥BOOM💥
How in the world did the boys back then get along without GPS and a drink holder?
Air conditioning! Don't get me started!!
Tough

Yup next time
i don't understand the point of plowing, why not just disc?
Previously plowed ground you have a point..unpreviously plowed ground... You need to turn it so that it disks much nicer. You get away better seed bed
@@FarmallFanatic per year or just to break up the original grass
