  • This song is dedicated to all the Afghan students and friends at Hilla International, Ampang.
This version contains both English translation and English phonetics.
I would like to thank my friend and colleague, Ali Hosseini who is also an asylum seeker, for his invaluable help in the translation of the lyrics.
Sarzamin Man (سرزمین من ) is a song by Dawood Sarkhosh, a poet, singer, and musician who belongs to the Hazara people, the third largest ethnic group in Afghanistan. This is his most well-known work which voices the feelings of the Afghan refugees dispersed throughout the world.

Thanks a lot for the translation. Heard few girls singing in Kabul Airport post August 15 after take over by Taliban. Really wanted to know it's meaning...without even understanding the lyrics itself I felt some pain n now 💔. Hope all Afghanistan people prosper.

I teach English in a school for Afghan refugees. The first time I heard the song, tears rolled down my cheeks. Later, with the help of an Afghan friend, I translated the song and shared it here. It's heart wrenching to leave one's home fleeing for life and most probably, never returning to it again. May God bless the asylum seekers. The Taliban are not human. 😡☠️💀💔😢💧💦

Hi Jeremy, thank you so much for doing this especially with the English subs. This song has been relevant since the Russian occupation and it has stayed relevant until today.

Hi, Farah, thank you for watching and commenting. My heart breaks for my Afghan friends because(, as a Malaysian-born Chinese,) I understand a little of their longing for their homeland which they may never be able to return to as the land is still in turmoil. I can still visit the land of my forefathers.

As an Afghan… thank you. Also this song was sung by Sediq Shabab, who is a Tajik, but Dawood Sarkhosh has his own version. But still, thank you for recognizing us. ❤️

Hello Ahmed, thank you for watching and commenting. The world is one and God created all of us equal. Sadly, some do harm to others and destroy peaceful countries and lands. I pray that there will be peace on earth and you can find love, joy and hope in a country where there is no war.

There is too much injustice, wickedness, brutality, lawlessness, murder, oppression, terrorism, danger and death. 💔😢☠️
