Kind of. The problem for me is that all you can hear is the high frequencies. For example in your Bere review it sounds like a ticking timebomb. 😉It's no big deal maybe I'm too focused on sound as a former musician. But personally I would leave it out totally. Your reviews are good enough already. Kind of like Highland Park doesn't need the Vikings.
I agree with all your comments on this one Rob. Mine is definitely getting better as I work down the bottle. However, I must say I preferred the 12 CS release that came out the same time, the mix of casks gives it a great balance of flavour.
@@WhiskyInThe6 I went straight out and hunted for a back-up bottle as soon as I tried it. The mix of finishes probably suits 'where I'm at' with my whiskies at the moment. I think I'm right in saying it's 45% Sherry, 25% Bourbon, 25% Burgundy and 5% Port finish. Definitely works for me whatever! Hope you get one.
Just got my bottle today. Big Springbank fan and really love this one. I could buy it from someone i know because the prices are at €300 at the moment. That’s crazy.
I always feel bad that Springbank sells it for £90 and then has to pay all the duty and workers out of that and then we have to pay close to $300 when the distillery probably clears $20 profits.
Finish let me down for this one. Very short. Doesn’t live up to the nose or palate. Still an 88/100 for me though. Just passed up a second bottle for £140. Got my eyes set on the new Arrrrrrrdbeg or Daftmill 2009 summer U.K. release
After having tasted the 10 and 15 yr olds. I’m very curious about Springbank. But I’ll have to be very selective when shopping. Prices are 😱. Cheers Rob 🥃
Yeah special releases are priced at ridiculous levels. The core range is where the value is. 12 CS is outstanding and as you have already had the 10 & 15 it would be the perfect next step. Cheers Guy's
it's 230€ right now in all of Europe so 300USD seems reasonable. RRP was around 100€. Honestly i think buying a 17 year old whisky for more than 100€ is insane and just feeds into the prices spiraling out of control. That being said, i bought several younger whiskys for way way more than 100€ myself :(
In the Uk its sold out everywhere online. Should be about £95. It will cost well over £200 on the auction sites if u want a bottle. Thats the springbank hype train for you.
I skipped this one. See it on uk site for £104 gone in an instant. See it on Dutch site for €200 was soon gone did not pull the trigger. Instead i recently got a springbank duty paid sample 17 single cask Port hogshead. It was €450 auch! I know a Dutch site who has the springbank 17 madeira for€250 but i think it is a bit to expensive to pull the trigger and my yearly budget just took a big hit.
Argh. Good review, but there's no way I'm going to find Springbank around where I live. But hey, I realised after the fact that the review I put up this morning is likely of a whisky that's only available in Canada, so I guess I shouldn't go throwing stones...
How would you compare this one to the core 15yr and 18yr offerings?
Has the Springbank characteristics but it’s very different. Probably a bit sweeter.
What would you recommend between this with Laphroaig 25 y/o cash strength? Sorry it might sound random but I'm really struggling from these options
I would learn toward the Springbank
Hi Rob, really like your reviews. Only the background music sounds like I am sitting next to someone who is listening to music wearing headphones.
Too low?

@@WhiskyInThe6 yeah it’s a little distracting and loud. Maybe try lower volume or take it out altogether.
Great review. Really liking this bottle so far!
It’s solid for sure. I think I’m drinking it too fast.
I bought this along with a Kilkerran 12 yr for £110 in London, UK. Will open the bottle when the time is right!
Nice!
Great Rob👍🏻
Can not wait for it to be released in Sweden
Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Sounds like a lovely dram. Cheers to another great review 😁🥃
Thanks buddy
$280 here is Cali. Seemed a bit too high so I passed. Sounds tasty thought! Cheers bud!
Weird that it was so much more in the US. I guess those tariffs are starting to take effect.
@@WhiskyInThe6 Yes, and springbank is always a lot here to begin with .
Found a bottle for $239 in Southern California. I have one on hold for me, debating if I should pull the trigger at that price.
Just grabbed 2 bottles @ $160 each + tax in NorCal. Cheers!

I’m excited to try that one.

Wish I could find it. Unobtanium
I had to fight for this.

What a great price you got. Its $215 USD where I'm at.
Ya Springbank likes Canada
Which is sweeter, the Madeira 17 or the Rum Cask 15 from 2019?
The 17 is.
Sounds like a hit, can't wait! Cheers
Solid for sure. How many you get?
@@WhiskyInThe6 Fortunate to get 1, tough out there!
I have to say this is really good stuff. I got to try it. I now know why this brand has such a loyal following. Thanks for the review.
Cheers brother

It drives me crazy. The worst is the ppl that have no intention nor interest to open and drink these bottles.

Interesting. I felt it was medium ish on finish. Something held me back from giving it a 90 as well though.
I need to try and find one of these, sounds amazing
It’s really great

@@DonnerPassWhisky Ya solid recommendation
Sounds right up my street ! Definitely my wheelhouse!
It’s really really nice.
We’re starving out here in Japan for some Springbank but sadly have been dry for months. Thanks for giving me something to dream about though!
That happens here as well. Two a year we get a shipment.
Passed on this one earlier this month. Close to 300 usd, is a bit to much for me.
it's 230€ right now in all of Europe so 300USD seems reasonable.

Ya that’s high.
Sounds like we got lucky here in Canada.
For this price I'd like to get my hands on it. Haven't seen it around here though.
Ya pretty solid price.

That port single cask sounds excellent
Close to $300 here in the states, unfortunately.

We review what we drink. Nothing wrong with that.
@@WhiskyInThe6 Legit.
No regrets about not getting hold of one of these. Nope. None at all. Nooo way.
Unrelated: Broken empire series - awesome protagonist :)
Looks like that bottle is tasty.
