Good to see your opinion on the different Springbank bottlings ,your face lit up like a Christmas tree when you took a sip of the 15 rum one John.I’m sure you would buy a truckload of the 15 rum if you could get a hold of it.
Ardbeg is getting out of control with their committee releases. And the consumers still buy them up, only encouraging them to continue. I’m just as guilty I love Ardbeg and regularly grab two of each when I can find them. But it’s all hype. The core range is fantastic and all you really NEED at your bar. I’ve yet to find a Springbank in my area so I can’t comment, but hear amazing things! Cheers 🥃
Agree… just as an example: Ardbeg 13 Fermutation retails $215+ I’ve seen the Ardbeg 19 on sale for $260.( a far better value) all things considered. These committee release prices are hard to justify but the demand is there for sure. Cheers 🥃
What's the matter John, not a fan of $150 43% Glenmorangie? I used to dig out my unopened 10 year old just to make sure it wasn't 40%. Hard for me to buy 43% when I have so many integrity bottles to try. Sounds like SB owes us a 2022 special release. I saw the Madeira 17 in the glass cabinet for months and I just couldn't pull the trigger. I've only got one bottle over $200 but at that time I was barely spending $89. Now I can live with $130ish so $240 is a real head game for me. It's 3 Laph10 CS. Double it I could get a Laphroaig 25. Anyway it's nice to see a new review on the channel, and of a enviable whisky too. Over 90 points is a nice dram. I try to not buy anything that's less the 82-84 on Whiskybase. Every palate is different and something like this should be beyond our expectations. It's just whisky but the experience should be impressive, unique and enjoyable. The Madeira single malts I have come across a tad subdued. And just like this one, fruity on the nose but a bit dry in the palate. I have a couple "perfect" whiskys but something like a $200+ Spring Bank should be more than perfect. I'm thinking $125-200 is going to be really good but the next level better shine. I'm always looking for something interesting, if I wanted just whisky I would drink Glenfiddich. I got turned off from rum casks by a cheap Total Wine sampler. It was weirder than sweet. Now I will surely keep a lookout for a more promising rum casked.
Thanks for your perspective. SB17 offers more complexity than the SB 15 rum…. BUT although the 17 is impressive, the 15 rum is pure deliciousness IMHO. And on different topic… Seagrass Rye is good juice with rum, Madeira, and Apricot brandy cask finishing. Cheers 🥃
@@justwhisky SeaGrass is a different beast altogether. I was thinking of the Tyrconnell 16 but it's Oloroso and Moscato. My 2 Madeira malts are both Indies, one Tobermory and one Ledaig. Interesting. I am with you that slowing down the purchasing is a priority but I like to hunt for Springbank. Ralfy's recent extras video was right up my alley. Thinking of rye...I have 2 new Glenallachie US releases. The Port 12 is a dangerous dram while the Rye 10 is more complex. Both overpriced at 48% so I would recommend the less expensive 10year rye for the experience.. Cheers from NY!
@@jackthepickledhound I’m a sucker for Springbank for sure. A local shop always has couple that sit on shelf as well as Longrow and Hazelburn. So tempting to scoop them all but I have so many/too many bottles that I exercise restraint. Thanks for the Glenallachie tip. Cheers 🥃
@@justwhisky The other Madeira is a Glendalough Triple Barrel with Madeira finishing. Very strange on paper, store pick Irish Whiskey at 42% for $35. Just a good whiskey to not think about. I'll spend $35 if I can't really decide on a more expensive bottle and I don't want to walk out without buying something. I also like sub$20 Barbera and Malbec.
Great Review! Appreciate The WhiskyBase & Ardbeg Informative Commentary!
Thank you. Appreciate it!

Three whiskys, this is great. Cheers my friend.

The 17 offers more complexity but that 15 is yummy stuff. Love it!

Springbank is 2.5x distilled, not double distilled fyi. Great video though mate as always :)
Yes indeed! Unedited blooper.
Good catch
Glad someone paying attention 😇😳
As soon as I recorded it I was aware.
