1. Off the Wall may not be my favorite MJ album but I absolutely adore it... 2. Probably Off the Wall or Get on the Floor 3. I think maybe you should shed some lite on MJ's Invincible (it's very overlooked but in some aspects it's similar to Off the Wall so you maybe you will like it) 4. Definitely, this video was great! #MJinnocent
Rock with you don’t stop till you’ll get enough working day and night off the wall I can’t help it burn this disco she’s out of my life get on the floor
I joined my school's marching band for next school year, and we're doing an Off the Wall themed performance. Made me realize that MJ actually has a lot of good music I haven't heard before. Off the Wall might be my favorite album of his now.
The album sold more than 20 million copies worldwide, deposited four singles into the Billboard Top 10 and showcased (or, more specifically, unleashed) Jackson's talents as a entertainer, a vocalist, a writer and, most importantly, as a leading man. Off the Wall signified Jackson's independence, and not just from the stifling creative control foisted on him by the folks at Motown. Over the course of 10 revelatory tracks, Jackson serves notice that he's no longer the cherub-faced boy with the notable afro, he's a full-grown man, one capable of workin' day and night, not stopping 'til he's had enough and loving so hard that it cuts like a knife. A masterful mixture of fiery disco tracks (album opener "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough," "Workin' Day and Night"), smooth, loverman tunes ("Rock With You," the McCartney cover "Girlfriend") and positively soul-devastating ballads ("She's Out of My Life," on which Jackson famously breaks down at track's end), Off the Wall is sumptuous, sexy and self-assured, a powerhouse that, through sheer skill of all involved, re-imagined R&B, disco and funk as not just so-called "black" music, but as colorblind, all-encompassing pop music, tunes that the entire world could groove to. And they did.
Off the Wall is the song wherein we first hear those Halloween sounds that he would perfect on Heartbreak Hotel and later songs like Thriller, Is It Scary, Ghosts, and Threatened.
The Bronze Age of DC Comics yea, MJ is synonymous with (as you said) the Halloween sound. Just look no further than what we hear at the beginning of the title track for Off The Wall, it almost makes me think of a witch laughing hysterically, it’s somewhat unsettling.
Such an amazing album! Nice review. “I Can’t Help It” was written by Stevie Wonder, that’s why is so great. You should review some of his all-time classics like “Innervisions”, “Songs In the Key of Life”, “Talking Book” or “Hotter than July”.. the best ‘pop music’ ever recorded.
Fine Arts Stevie’s music is not for everyone. Some could find his best acclaimed classics a bit too rich, convoluted and sophisticated. I do think he’s the greatest pop melodist, his lyrics are so deep and meaningful and his voice is just so amazing! On most of his albums he wrote all the tracks and played all the instruments himself.. I mean.. he’s in a league all of his own! I suggest you to start with “Hotter than July” (on the same level of Off the Wall musically speaking), with “Talking Book” may be a good introduction for any Stevie Wonder newcomers. Let me know!
I absolutely adore this album so much, for me this is his best album, my fav songs on the album are: 1. Off the wall, 2. Rock with you, 3. Get on the floor 4., I can't help it, 5. burn this disco out
This is my favorite MJ album. It's a great front to back listen. I don't skip "Girlfriend" but I admit it's my least favorite. I played the cassette over and over on my boombox when it first came out.
Off The Wall grew on me over the years, and it is currently my second favorite MJ album, after Thriller. There isn't any weak song in the whole album. I can only say, that Michael's music lost a lot with the departure of Quincy Jones.
A jazz or news of the world album review would be nice. I know you’re probably busy and won’t do this but I just thought I’d suggest it. Love your vids.

Finally, someone’s mentioned the rise in quality, yay! I’m improving and that’s what matters most. My fav Beatles album is Idk. I’m not the biggest Beatles fan. Though, I like a lot of their songs and understand the impact they have had on music as a whole.
Fun Fact: "Rock with You" was first offered to Karen Carpenter for her solo album but turned it down. Vocally, it 's a great fit and would have taken her career trajectory into a new unexpected and exciting direction. Perhaps stylistically, she felt it may have been too much of a departure - to explore a more liberated and sensual musical persona. Tellingly in "Superstar" she could not make herself sing the lyric "sleep with you again" and changed it into ""be with you again".
That’s understandable but I think he was trying to branch out that disco and jazz sound that he started with in his early career because it was dying a no longer that popular but I’ve actually seen quite a few mj fans say that his new stuff is better but I actually agree with you. Off the wall is MJ’s magnum opus
@@123abg8 or... MJ made several magnum opuses... after all he released albums rarely enough the have to win over brand new audiences every time. i do think that this was actually his goal (at least until the 1st allegations - then he somehow lost his drive to do that)
Funny how you loved this, but thought hot space sucked. You talk about queen being know for their different genres, but don't like hot space, because there in not much rock on it. I think lots of songs on it combine rock and funk. MJ is great, but give me queen any day. Queen 👑 forever.
Disco sucks, but Off The Wall is a reasonable album. Working Day and Night is the best song on that album because MJ wrote it. I feel repugnant towards Thriller for making music videos more important than actually good songs during the 80s, Bad has my favourite MJ song; Leave Me Alone. I haven't listened to Dangerous, and History might be my favourite MJ album
Thanks for watching!

Yea, Off The Wall is probably my favourite MJ album too
Off The Wall made MJ the largest selling black artist. Thriller made him the largest selling artist.
