Yessss its a hobby and youre the boss! I cant wait to see how your shawl knits up.
I am test knitting a slipover (Irene slipover), and not in the yarn i initially planned on but its turning out lovely and Im super excited about it!
Awesome, yarn choice is going to be everything w/ that texture.
Wow, my thinking about St. West is almost the same! I have done several. They are mostly with stash yarn that is outliner for one reason or another, so the challenge of pattern and yarn make an interesting journey. I am with you!
Yeah, his patterns are great for random stash. Playing with color and planning is almost as fun as the actual knitting.
Please post the finished Vertices. Love your color choices. I made this shawl and love it and loved knitting it.
Absolutely!
I had to laugh out loud when I watched this, knowing that you were starting a Stephen West Knit Shawl. I knit three of his leggings and have never been interested in any of his other stuff. I feel like I am the only person who is NOT knitting his shawls. What is wrong with me!
I love your colors that you picked out and it’s amazing that you had that in your stash.
I am still knitting Fair Isle items at the moment. I have truly fell down the Fair Isle rabbit hole.
Miriam! So glad to connect w/ you here. Loving your Fair Isle. One day I want to have enough scraps from all of my shawls to make the leggings.
It was so fun watching you go through the design process. Your shawl is going to be amazing! I love the color combo you ended up with-I have been wanting to make this shawl as well! I am working on the LuLu slipover but really wanting to cast on something new just because 😂
thanks for taking the ride w/ with me. Go for it; something so energizing about a fresh cast-on.
also I looked at that pattern and some of the ones knit in limited palettes are my favorites.
There's something about seeing a stephen west shawl in muted or monochromatic colors that totally transforms it. I also like playing with color change yarn w/ his patterns.
I have felt the same way about verticies unite! I first found it unappealing, but now I am drawn to it. I think knitting a shawl in sections will be fun. Presently I am finishing up the Aurora Cabin Shawl...the 1100 stitches per row is driving me crazy.
So far, I'd definitely classify it as a "process knit." I love modular knitting and the repeats are easy to memorize.
Also >1000 stiches!? That's wild!
I'm finishing up an Odyssey Shawl by Joji. It's a lot of garter.... It had me looking up alternatives that would the shawl, but by the end of it all? Garter isn't so bad anymore :P
That's a gorgeous shawl. I've definitely had a love-hate rollercoaster relationship w/ garter stitch. I'm on the love side now.
