I should have the old mower operational soon.. It is supposed to rain for the next whole week, so when the weather dries out, I might get to mow !

OH BOY! You sure have a great deal of vintage. I used 1 of my Homelite xl12 to cut a little bit of wood the other day. Nothing major 5 gal size oak trees. If l keep hanging around l just might learn something. Thanks

Vinigar White Distilled Works Best on Rust n Crusty Fuel Tanks Mr Obsolete I’ve Done it Many Times at Work And Isn’t as Caustic as Acid or EvapORust 😊😀😊 Those Super80 Saw Is One of My Favorites❤️❤️ Vintage Is The Best of The Best 😊 Thanks Mr & Mrs Obsolete

I use vinegar to remove rust also in my gas tanks and other parts as well. The common stuff at the grocery stores is only 5% acid. They make up to 15% acid, but I have never found a source. The thing I don't like about vinegar is the dark coloration it leaves on certain types of steel. I wanted to see if Evaporust is as good as all the hype, or is it just BS. Citric acid is also a good rust remover, but I haven"t used it much. The Mac SP 80 should be a real performer once I get back together. Vintage is best for me !

Evaporust works nicely, I have used it many times. Its not so strong that it eats metal but it still works relatively quickly.

You don't see too many Pro Mac 510's. The Pro Mac 510 was the first saw I ever laid my hands on, my Dad's saw. I had an RM-125 that I took through the trails quite often. When a tree was down over the trail, the 510 would take care of business. Great little saw. I picked up a 510 a few months back and set it on the backburner. Now that I've watched your video, I'm going to have to dig it out and dive into it. I need to find me a Super Pro 80 or 81. Great saws!

I think what happened with my Pro Mac 510, is that I found it a long time ago, found it didn't have spark, tossed it in the corner of my shop, and buried with a bunch of other vintage crapola, and totally forgot about it. I don't think they were a big seller, as I never see them at the shows or swap meets. It will be interesting to compare it to my Mini Mac 35 to see if the extra displacement is a step up in performance or not. I really am looking forward to getting the SP 80 up and running. It is amazing that I never found a Mac 82cc saw that was any good in all the years of fiddling around with old saws.

I can see how that could happen. I'll be curious to see what you think about the 510. With all that you have and do, it is hard to believe that you never found a SP 80/81 until now. That saw will round out your McCulloch collection nicely! I was looking to buy a really nice SP 81 a month or so ago. Unfortunately, It was sold out from under me. I'll keep looking...

My saw collecting hobby has been different than most. I never have really gone to sales, swap meets etc. to look for them. Most of my saws were given to me over a long time span from customers, friends etc., who knew that I would get them up and running and use them. Most of my collection was acquired quite some time ago. So I consider myself as an accumulator instead of a hard core collector. In the past I usually collected anywhere from 3 to 5 saws a year, and over time have ended up with a nice, but not real large collection. I really like the history and general BS on them also, which makes for a great hobby. Now if I can just find me a McCulloch SP 125 ! YEAH !

That's a great way to get started and move through the hobby, slow and steady. You have "accumulated" some really nice saws over the years, that is for sure. I'm with you on the history aspect of the hobby. I just recently picked up a great used book, Chainsaws: A History. Tons of great pictures and history on most of the big chainsaw manufacturers. I highly recommend it, if you don't already have it. McCulloch SP 125. Yes Sir! That would definitely complete your collection. Mine too!

That chainsaw book is excellent. I have had a copy for a while, and like to browse through it from time to time. It is an excellent source of info. I have been lucky to have a nice diverse collection of saws, and in my view a lot more interesting than specializing in one brand, like many do.

New saws are mostly crapola, are hard to work on and require special tools to repair them. My old saws are just the opposite. Vintage is best !

I'm not sure what you mean by resins. If you could provide me with more info and what the resins were used for, I have a better chance of giving you an answer.

Goes 80 series saws an 8 hundreds and eight 50s they are a beast they have power galore but on the heavy side large wood requires large saw no wimps allowed

I always wanted a Mac 82cc saw, but they are scarce around here, as they were used up in the commercial market. So I finally lucked out. Looking forward to getting it in the wood. It might be heavy compared to a new saw, but it much lighter than my Stihl 051 of 89cc's. Both saws are not for weenies !

I don't think I have ever seen that model McCulloch. I have a full wrap super EZ but it doesn't run right so I might swap the parts onto another one. Those cases are pretty bad I have several . Can't wait to see the pm80 running.

I don't think the PM 510 sold very well. Really looking forward to testing out the SP 80 when finished.

@@mrobsoletesvintagehomestea9156 I just picked another one up that sat in a garage for 30 years for $25. I bet it has less than 20 hours. Quick carb kit runs like a top. I love the sound of those old Homelites and McCullochs. Great saws.

Nice to find old saws that were built up to a standard and not down to a price like todays junk saws.
