Awesome tutorial Leon. Got a few old pioneers that I am contemplating the same outcome. Hopefully only a piston as the cylinders are far and few to be found.

Thanks. Got my part yesterday and got it in. Really quick turnaround considering snail mail half way across the country. Compression was the second concern with both my old Homelites.

Glad I found your channel. We used to have several good small engine mechanics in this area and sadly the last one passed away a couple years ago. He was the only one that would help me with my super ez. I love this little saw and I think it had low compression all along. It would start but no matter what I done it wouldn't idle. Saw was in great shape outside but I think I ran it too much and it spun a bearing yesterday. 😥

I had a 925 & a 944 many years ago. The 925 had very few hours but the 944 was used a lot. So help me both of those saws had 175 lbs of compression 1st pull. Those saws have led to shoulder problems in these later years. They're still in the area & were sold to the fire dept where after several years they were bought by 2 of the members.

thanks for passing along some more skilled diagnostic work. Pretty tough to get around this with a band aid fix of any kind but if I were to need try one it would be to run 25:1 oil and see if it helps seal things up. Without seeing inside that would be just a crap shoot, because there may be severe damage. But it is the only one I know that could possibly bring it back to nearer a normal throttle response.

One could do a pressure test on the crankcase. But with 50 psi hot it is possible that the piston ring has lost its strength.

So how low is to low on compression? My 925 has cold 125psi and manifests some of the problems you show in this video.

    Rings are stuck

Just the ring tension is lost due to wear down?

the piston rings are gone no good 😮😮 and piston is worn out the best would be 2 replace piston W a set of new piston rings even if U have 2 use after market its better than no parts at all and also I would use a bead cylinder hone 2 rehone the engine cylinder W 😊😊 OMG 7 5 2O24
