That Sônia Abraão host is like the brazillian version of what a trump supporter host would be. She hates women, she’s very narcissistic, I think she’s bitter about other women in general and at that time we didn’t know it, but now we do. She hates women, black people, she’s conservative, it’s not accepting of different cultures, she also hates vulnerable women, she’s always victim blaming everyone. Always thinks people are “cry babies”. And she covers everyone’s deaths on that TV channel. I think she knew what she was doing! She’s a psycho.

Ok, yeah 12 year olds want what they want and will rebel if you tell them no, but as the adults and parents, it's your job to put your foot down and monitor where your child is going and who they interact with. Poor Eloa. People calling Lindenberg a lovesick boy. No he was a power hungry, obsessed, predator. She told him no. He couldn't take it so he stalked her and he tortured her for hours. The mindset of "if I can't have her no one can" is NOT LOVE! Her blood is on all those journalists hands. Them blocking the only line of communication with actual negotiators and pushing him further into his narcissistic behavior. Also the police not even being able to break in properly. Like you didn't think that maybe he barricaded the door and to use other entrances like the windows. They did so much to protect him instead of protecting Eloa...the actual victim. So much of this makes my blood boil. They messed up so badly and she lost her life because of it.

This is a clear case of femicide from the start. Lindenberg being described as a poor love struck “boy” angered me so much and then that deputy talking about the girls not being concerned and cleaning the dirty house as if they weren’t shot at and killed. Grown 22 year old men can make the mistake of killing their minor gf for the sake of “love” but god forbid that hostage victims didn’t clean the house they’re being forcibly held in. Women and girls lives hold little value at mercy of men’s hurt feelings. I hope that poor girl is living a more peaceful life above now.

    Hi, Brazilian here.
There's an amazing documetary called 'Quem Matou Eloá?' ('Who Killed Eloá?') about the media and its impact on the outcome of this case. You can find here on UA-cam with English subtitles. It's a series of gaffes and frustratingly spectacularized handling of a serious situation. Great watch! I believe it won multiple awards.
This case went downhill very quickly with the media 'coverage'. Sonia Abrão's LIVE interview with Lindenberg is a shameful part of Brazil's journalism history. It's been shown in many Journalism schools (mine included) as an example of how NOT to handle and coverage an ongoing crime (or any kind of delicate situation). Everything in this case is very telling regarding how the media can turn a sour situation into a tragedy, if the media's involvement is not done carefully. Not to comment the 'executive' choices authorities made, like sending Nayara back... Eloá's case makes me mad everytime I hear about it, just because things could've been different if people weren't making a spectacle out of it.

I hate the way her parents treated this situations... I get it, they didnt want her to sneak around with him, but this man never shouldve been a part of this childs life. How tf did they let their child "date" this grown man and let him into their house??? If I had a 12 yo girl and a 20 year old man wanted to "date" her (GROOM AND PREY ON) I would report him to the police and if that wouldnt help Id find a way for someone to break both of his legs and keep him away. This poor child had idiots for parents my god.. So tragic.

I'll be honest with you I'm from Brazil and unfortunately age gaps this big are kinda accepted here. Don't get me wrong, everyone would call him a pedo but as long as the families are okay w that, that's how shit rolls in Brazil. An old friend of mine was 18 and started dating a 14 year old, and another friend was 26 and started dating a 17 year old, my other friends would only make jokes about him liking underage girls and when I asked the adult's around me for their opinion they said it depends on the person's maturity. That's Brazil for you.

I don’t care about age of consent in different places or how common age gaps between teens and adults are to find in different countries, 12 & 20 is insane and this poor girl didn’t even get to experience even close to a full life because a nasty, fully grown man decided she isn’t allowed to. I have seen Brazilians online, including in this comment section, saying those age gaps unfortunately aren’t uncommon. I hope that changes.

We have a famous rapper (MC poze) in Brazil that got a 13y girl pregnant (he was 24btw) and many MANY people attack you if you point out how wrong it is. I myself got attack on Twitter bc I called him a p3do and people were defending him saying that she was already"grown" enough to consent and that their relationship was okay bc he married her, till this day people see them as a "couple goals". Misogyny and grooming young girls is EXTREMELY normalized in Brazil.

Sadly I am familiar with it living in Italy too. Our age of consent is low and you can see 20yo and older men ""dating"" 14yo girls and their families do nothing.

This is tragic example on how the language we use can affect situations, outcomes and individuals. The media made this man, A GROWN MAN that is a predator, a stalker and a violent hostage taker into a poor boy that got hurt in love and he got more sympathy and attention than the victim. My blood is boiling as I listen.

That poor LITTLE girl. This was a child, in the best years of her life. Where she was learning about makeup, movies stars, music, companionship, boys ! Was learning who she was and wanted to be in life. God forbid she didn’t want a 20 YO man trying to suck the life out of her before she could even learn to drive.
He stole so much from that family and future. Her poor friends. To have gone through that and make it out without her, I can only imagine the heartbreak.
I hope they all have been able to recover and heal inside and out. Aloha won’t be forgotten.
I hope neither is the bastard that stole her from us all, just in case he gets out before he dies. That way justice will continued to be served … even in the streets.

as someone who dealt with a 26 y/o stalker who tried to kidnap me, break into my apt and threatened to kill my mom's secretary if she didn't tell him where I was (I was 14 at the time, I'm 22 now) I felt this case on a personal level. Luckily I managed to avoid being taken bc I was with my older sister at the time, we went to my mom and she took us to the police to make a report, he wasn't even in jail for 2 months before being released, and he was allowed to continue living in the same apt complex I did. This was while I was living in Brazil. That experience still affects me to this day sometimes (diagnosed with PSTD and DID bc of this traumatic experience)
