    I'm brand new to it all but kind of an old-school strat gamer and got it on sale for 15 bucks so I got it. Started first game as USA but forgot to turn off DLC so I made sure to do that, then restarted. Thanks for the explanation, it makes a lot more sense now.

    I'd like to see which support companies are useful and how their work. Especially Radio Companies or Field Hospitals, which do not seem to be in use that much.

    • @Evasiv

      Literally engineer companies, support AA and Artillery, and logistics if you have the economy to produce it. Everything else will drain your supplies and barely provide any help

      I really like using signal companies once I have a robust enough industrial base. I don't know what "initiative" means in terms of the game, but it's something I want since the enemy never has it. Plus muh realism headlarp. Don't skimp on maintenance companies for your armored divisions either, they keep your tanks in the fight easing the strain on production, even if it only helps a little it makes a big difference with thousands of tanks in the field. Plus it increases the chance of capturing and salvaging enemy equipment. Field hospitals work the same way but for manpower.

      @augustdenger8231 from what I recall. The initiative helps tanks get into combat faster. I believe it increases the reinforcement rate when entering combat width like how the radio research increases it. I could be wrong tho so don't take my word 100%

    • @augustdenger8231

      @@noobsworld4217 Okay I finally bit the bullet and read the explanation on the forum. Initiative helps units plan faster, really useful for rapidly redeploying units as they'll get their max planning bonus more quickly. Really only useful for fast moving units like mot. infantry or tanks. It also increases their reinforcement chance, meaning units held in reserve during battles will be able to join the fight quicker to keep pressure on and do more damage to the enemy units they are engaging. Again, most useful for flexible, mobile, "problem-solving" units.
      Usually I design my frontline divisions to have as much soft attack as possible with at least SOME armor at around 20 combat width, they are often very slow, but the boost to reinforcement chance might help marginally in an attack.
      My mot. and armored divisions I design to be as fast as possible also with as much soft attack as possible, again at around 20 combat width, but they tend to be lower org so they're great at supplementing attacks or exploiting gaps, making an initiative buff really important. Glad I looked this up

      That's kind of on purpose, little time to prepare so you need to specialise, civilian factories is basically your economy so the more the better, infrastructure increases resources and building bonus so I'd do infrastructure max then civilians till 38 then just build tons of military. Is it meta no, will it help you get a solid grip on the game, yes.

    There’s a chart somewhere with the stats on every combat width in every type of tile. As a general rule: 18 or 21 width for GI will do you just fine. 30 or 35 width for your tank battalions or even special forces IMO at least

  • @anr-fridaynightfunkinymomo7188

    fyi : the penalty doest really work, and its better getting the penalty and having more divs, so you always wanna max out the cw to as much as you can while still getting 2 divs in the battle, usually 32w for mountains, and for the rest is usually 36/38 (38 only if you are only fighting in urban, hills or plains)

    • @thebluntrealist7180
      @thebluntrealist7180 3 місяці тому +1

      I've only been through about 5 game-years as USA so take anything I say w/mass quantities of Beldar, but if I understand you right, I think you're talking about political points. You gain it slowly over time like .04 per day early, modified by all sorts of things, but starts coming easier later in the game. The pp cost is how much you have to spend to perform an action, like 25 for a small lobbying effort. What I just said is true as far as it goes, but I'm not sure I understood/answered the question. Just tryin' to help b/c I was there just 2 weeks ago too

    I would like to understand how supply works😅 I get the basic concept but not more than that

    • @Trotler
      @Trotler 4 місяці тому +1

      Supply goes from your capital to many different supply hubs by trains on railways so upgrading railways is a good option. Without supply your division get simply no new equipment or manpower. Tbh the basic concept is everything you need because after that it’s no more complicated.

    • @gonozal8_962
      @gonozal8_962 4 місяці тому

      @@Trotler+ infrastructure increases supply, but it’s cheaper to just motorize supply hubs when you are currently at war (either 30 or 60 trucks per supply hub). it makes sense not to put all troops at a border of a country you’re not currently fighting (you can still get the max entrenchment in 5 days base, more if max entrenchment is boosted, but entrenchment rate isn’t) to keep supply up in these regions. having a few spare trains and trucks may also be good for such purposes

      @@unapersonacompletamenteran8714 i admit that i'm not a pro but I think becuase your supply hubs don't reach your troops or it has to give supply to too many troops. Maybe you also don't have enough train or trucks in stockpile

    *somewhere in paradox*
    Hey guys lets make an arbitration number to base our whole combat system around and if players have the wrong number of battalions in their divisions they will lose every battle! It'd be so fun! Also we wont notify players about it anywhere so they will go google it!
    Please tell me it's gonna be different in Hoi5. That's almost as stupid as air regions.
    The pretty obvious fix would be to remove the exceed penalty and have battalions go into reserves if it's exceeded. If that causes too much lag then it can be made so the weakest divisions that exceed the combat width get the penalty, not all of them, so exceeding is just ineffective, not punishing.
    As things stand now you either google best combat widths for current patch or you're fked

      The standard combat width for plains is 30, so if it's below 30 than division will fit in plains, but the meta division for this update (at least according to MP players) is 15 (so it's 6 infantry and 1 artillery battalion), your division width is okay for single player and will fit in most terrains, not ideal, but that doesn't matter much
