Man, I've put 300 hours into the game and NEVER dared to get into the navy system, but this video showed me how much I've been missing. Great and easy tutorial.
Okay, I've been playing HOI4 off and on since launch, and I love how detailed this game gets, but I've never really gotten around to actually understanding its complexity. I've tried many guides to get a decent grip on the concepts, and while I know the basics, you're the first one who really got me to have some insight in how division design works (from another video), and who's given me an actual understanding of where to start tackling the navy. You say in this video that you're planning to do a more in-depth navy guide in the future; speaking to you from the future, I can tell you that I would very much love said guide, and I hope you might be getting around to that pretty soon. I wish you the very best with this channel; I know how daunting it can be to keep churning out high quality content for a relatively small amount of subscribers, but I can only beg you to please keep it up. You deserve every subscriber you're going to get. You have a way of explaining things which is concise, easily digestible, yet highly informative without ever becoming boring - and a pleasant voice to listen to, to boot. Thanks mate, looking forward to seeing more of you, and to watching this channel grow!
Aw thanks so much! That's one of the kindest things anyone has said to me on here, and I'm just really glad I've managed to help you! I'm pretty much finished with the beginners guide series at the moment, and my next one was going to be covering the DLCs, including man the guns, so stay tuned!
This has been the easiest and simplest explanation I have watched for HoI4 navy deployments and I have watched many trying to get it all. The way you setup fleets and TFs with the temple for auto deployment! My normal sub deployment is all laboriously hand done in 1s and 2s in fleets and after around 15 fleets it gets confusing (1 fleet per zone as opposed to 1 fleet with TFs)
I played this at launch but forgot or never cared enough to learn the game, Now that i want to play i gotta to let you know that this video tutorial is a great resource for me to learn, a small channel but i can tell a ton of effort goes into these! Thanks mate.
Thank you for spending time on the navy. Too many tutorials blow this off. I haven’t bought any DLC until I prove to myself I will play the game enough to earn buying more content. A carrot to motivate myself to stick to it and learn this beast. So I’m not willing to ignore the seas. And as the great philosophers of our time, aka the Village People, said … “In the navy Come on, protect the motherland In the navy Come on and join your fellow man In the navy Come on people and make a stand In the navy, in the navy, in the navy”
I watched a lot of your tutorials in non-chronological order and I have to say you do an awesome job. The build-up, some humor, practical tips, you thought about it well and executed it well. Thanks for making these. I understand the effort as I do something similar but for Hell Let Loose ;)
Best tutorial I've seen yet. Love that you have split it up into sections and that you don't muddle the lessons with unnecessary min maxing, just the essentials.
Going through and watching a lot of your vids, they are very helpful! I have recommended you to my friends who also suck at the game and you have been a huge help! Thanks!
Important note for brand new players, for naval invasions you must have the naval invasion research. Playing as Peru they do not possess this technology to start and it caused me no amount of grief!
Sure do! I can't link videos in comments anymore but if you just search "HammoTimee plane designer/tank designer/division designer/" they're gonna appear 😄
I am sure Mussolini when presented with this sub spam strategy, he replied "Great idea!" In other words, it's a ridiculous exploit. Defeats the whole point of Italy building a fleet-in-being to force Britain and France to keep ships in the Mediteranean Sea.
Any similar concept to elite/reserve air groups for naval task forces? I want to keep my old/slow hulls out of my task forces yet still auto deploy new ones from reserves as built?
You can set that up by assigning a design the different icons (eg skulls, battery, airplane icon) in the designer, and only having the newer ones be allowed into your task forces. Great idea though! I'll make a short on it ;)
Been watching your beginner guides and found them very helpful, you've earned yourself a subscriber. One aspect that isn't covered in air force or navy for beginners is carriers. How do you use carrier planes? Do they "equip" to their carrier? Help, please :)
Thank you! I'm glad I've been able to help! Ah yes, I had planned to come back to that, I might make a short on it. When your carrier gets into a naval combat it will automatically deploy it's planes into the battle. However, you can move your fleet to a naval tile (select the task force and right click to where you want them to go) and then use your carrier as a mobile airport. This is great if you want CAS support on an island in the Pacific for example!
@@hammotimee Islands in the Pacific was exactly my issue, as well as naval invasions into places like China. Could use that CAS to help me secure a beach head, as I'm struggling to make one right now. Thanks for your help, I'll be looking out for that short :)
@@gr5420 perfect! Give that a red hot go and see what happens! Make sure you've got engineers on your marines divisions too, and I like to have one or two carriers that are just full of CAS that I can move around to support my naval invasions :)
Ah sorry I meant production cost. In one of your later videos you mentioned it tells you about the timing of the equipments, so thanks! Assuming its the same with building factories @@hammotimee
How exactly do I set up the "4:1" ratio tho? I've played HOI4 a while but never touched the navy and am trying my hand at the USA. I'm very lost on what exact buttons I press here and there.
Yeah it's a bit tricky. There's no game mechanic to do it apart from the scales button, which splits up your whole task force into evenly distributed ones. But mainly you kind of just need to count your capital ships, multiply by 4, and make sure you've got that amount of screens in that task force
Yep! The naval strike mission has a certain base level of spotting, and your coverage over a region affects how great/small it is. So tac bombers are really good for that purpose 😁
I’m so annoyed by all the so called, “beginner tutorials,” that give you strategies. The main thing I need to know to actually use my navy is to know what button does what! Thank you. I will subscribe.

I watched many videos about navy. This video explains the best and I think I finally understand how navy works!
Glad to help! 😄
This is the tutorial I've been looking for, all the unsexy stuff proper navy management, thank you.

As a new player... Thank you. I have a basic understanding of most systems now, minus the navy. This has helped a lot. Bathtub spam for meeeeeee!
Hahaha thank you so much! I'm glad to help, and I've got plenty of videos on the navy when you're ready!
Thank so much I needed this tutorial
Glad to help! 😄
Hard to find a tutorial without the Man the Guns DLC. Thank you!
You're welcome!
The whole beginners guide playlist of mine is without the DLCs :)
This was a fantastic tutorial
Thanks so much! :D
Amazing.. it is the first time i see a tutorial about hoi4 and i understand everything.. I dont know how you do this but thank you Master.. 👋👋🙏

How does the production come into play? So your production is not only dependent on the number of dockyards/factories assigned to the production line?

I'm confused why they're called screens and capital ships.
I thought capital is only 1 special ship for the capital
Nope! Capital ships are the big boys with big gun, or carriers. Screens are the lighter ships that protect them 😊
