My name is Hammo and I stream on Twitch! I play a variety of RTS and strategy games, but my favourite game by far is Hearts of Iron IV.
I love this game and it's complexity, strategy and historical focus, but these are also reasons people can find it hard to get into Hoi4. The endless spreadsheets, statistics, buffs and debuffs can be overwhelming without someone to show you the ropes, which is where this channel comes in!
I will be creating and posting beginners guides, tutorials, walkthroughs, tips and tricks videos, just about everything I can to get you playing and enjoying Hearts of Iron IV as much as I do!

The new DLC "By Blood Alone" has significantly lower the production cost of transport planes. A single air wing of transport planes can supply an entire region by itself.

Hammo, have watched numerous vids on supply, and not one of them has addressed, or explained, how to get supply up when you go overseas, such as the USA to Europe-China. They insist you build a naval base, and yet when you check supply, many times it is not even being delivered to the naval base you built. Also, when going to an existing supply hub in a foreign territory, it is always controlled by another nation, so you can NOT click on the hub and upgrade railways back, you must manually upgrade the railways back to the naval base, but there in lies the problem--------->if you can NOT choose which naval base for your country to send supply to, you might have to upgrade railways across the continent to where it is being supplied, and there is no promise that base is where supplies will be sent to in the future. This means you have spent loads to build the railway, and now it is not viable for supply from your country as the AI has switched where it is going. Any thoughts?

Great point! Generally supply will be delivered through the highest level route available, which goes for your ports as well. So if there's a specific port you want priority for, build that one up to be higher than the rest. The kicker is though a lot of people forget to also upgrade their port on the mainland, it will need to be the same level or higher than the target port. If this fails, the other thing you can try is to set the naval regions to "do not travel" to force your convoys to go where you want them. Hope this helps!

Quick tip, if u got a good economy like Germany, u can just upgrade small parts manually so u can do a whole railway in faster amount of time instead of putting 15 factories on 30 railways taking 2 months just put 100 factories on the same 30 railways just seperated and let it take 4 days

    Got a small question
Im doing most of the things you said, also have BBA but on war the front always have low supplies! I focus on taking enemies supplies and cities but in some cases they still suffers. Any tip to prevent this?
And also support airplanes are still worth it?

    • @hammotimee
      @hammotimee  11 місяців тому

Biggest thing would be to double check your motorisation level, make sure it's max, level up those railways and if all that still doesn't work, take some troops off that frontline. Also don't be afraid of building supply hubs
And yeah transport planes can help! You need a lot though haha

@@hammotimee I started writing this comment before watching the video, so maybe my thoughts will change. I have less than 200 hours in HOI4.
States that have high amounts of building slots (urban regions and higher) and a high ratio of military to civilian factories should have the option to build special supply hubs that you can plug in to your supply network to distribute a portion of your total supply generation to that region instead of all your produced equipment just magically appearing in the capital and having to be sent by rail back to the very cities those tanks and guns were built in.
California, for example, was a major military producer in World War 2. Collectively, California built 2/3 of the total US military aircraft, and over 200 ships.
In game, it would make far more sense for Los Angeles and/or San Diego to produce supplies that can be sent by ship to the Philippines, Hawaii, and all of the other naval bases instead of the default of supplies being sent by train to New Orleans, and then down through the Panama Canal by ship before even entering the Pacific.
Having these "distribution hubs" built close to your borders offers a high risk/reward paradigm. Your frontline troops can get supplies faster, but you'll lose significantly more supply if one of the hubs is bombed/captured. Conversely, capturing an enemy distribution hub would allow you immediate access (after repairs, of course) to an entirely separate supply network for your forces in the surrounding area. Instead of waiting to build rail connections to the captured territory, your troops would have a base level of supply independent of air transports that are susceptible to interception.
Let me know what you think of this idea.
P.S. Engineer support companies could get a passive bonus to infrastructure, railway, and supply hub repair time for provinces they occupy.
