That was simply magical to watch. You made it look so easy, but I’m positive your years of experience in drawing, painting and observing nature are playing a large part in the wonderful results you achieve here with this relatively new medium. I especially enjoyed this video, but all your videos are really inspiring!!!😊
You might want to try water soluble graphite as part of your winter color mix. I really love to use the Derwent Graphatint pencils. Also, the Caran D’ache marker tipped water brush is the best lifter that I’ve ever used.
Love what you did with the watercolor pencils. I received some for Christmas as wasn’t sure how to start using them. Now you have inspired me to try them. ❤
This is a lovely video! I’m fairly new to your channel and really appreciate your generosity in providing great content in a warm welcoming way. Secondly, I purchased your brush set and love it. And finally, I’m in love with your adorable kitty! He looks like someone made him this really mod sweater- love his energy too.
I have followed your journey for over a year. I am pleasantly taken by your openness to share, explain, and experiment. Thank you for all do and all you’re going to do.
Lovely video. I use my watercolor pencil in conjunction with regular watercolor quite often. I also will lay down watercolor pencils on a scrap piece of paper and use it like a palette to lift color with my brush and apply to my painting. This works especially well if I don’t want the lines of the pencil to show.
So lovely! I asked you a while back about watercolor pencils, and I am so glad you posted this. Thank you! I am realizing that watercolor pencils are my best medium...like it or not. The music went along with the artwork perfectly too. So many art youtubers have music that distracts from their work!
I love winter scenes (said as someone living in S. California) and miss that particular beauty that was all around during winters, where I grew up! Thanks for sharing your tips and lovely paintings using wc pencils. I love the one with the dark stream showing reflections!! I also love the the beautiful photography and you playing with your cat!! Hugs❤
Love this! Thank you so much because it's given me ideas for my sketchbook and my pencils which I love using but get hung up figuring out what to do. I love the mini-scenes. They do look so relaxing.
Lovely video and beautiful pieces. Watercolor pencils are a great idea for outdoor winter painting. I've learned to use way less water, after a learning experience that produced pink pears :0). I've also been playing around with Neocolor II watercolor crayons. I bought a small pack to play with and they were very fun.
Gorgeous artwork and helpful tips! I have some pencils that I gave up on because I really didn't know how to use them properly. I think I'll give them another chance. Thank you for this! 🌻
This is really inspiring. I have a full set of Albrecht Durer WC pencils I haven't touched for a while, maybe 3 years. I'm getting them out and going to do some sketching! Thank-you
Sarah, thanks for this! You've inspired me to pull out my watercolor pencils and play with them. I live in Oregon, USA and it's wet and damp all winter long and takes a million years for my plein air watercolor paintings to dry. I carry regular colored pencils with me and use those but I also have a bunch of watercolor pencils that I rarely use. I'm going to give them a try again! One thing that I have been experimenting with is using Caran d'Ache Neocolor ll. They are also water soluble and I dab my wet brush on them to pick up color and then apply the brush to the paper. This also reduces the amount of water used. They are like a watercolor crayon. If you decide to try them they also have a Caran d'Ache Neocolor l which are not water soluble so don't confuse l with ll.
Hi.. I love your wintery, colorful, Bubble scenes.. they’re beautiful. You inspire me, yet I’m not making it priority… I’ll try to carve out a time. Thank you for the videos. They’re very relaxing🤗
lovely and soft work. Thanks for this video. I realise I have been a bit heavy handed in the past and can thanks to you see that I should apply colour very lightly to the paper .
I love these watercolor paintings made with the watercolor pencils, they are so delicate. Wonderfull, I hope you will post more of these tutorials in which you use these great pencil s.
This was great!! Thank you! My stash of WC Pencils is so underused and I really feel like I haven't unlocked their potential as drawing tools. Thanks for giving me some ideas (and eye candy!)
I find this so inspiring! I can’t draw very well but I can’t wait to try watercolour pencils. Your explanation is so clear and easy to follow. I love the videos too!
I enjoyed watching your process and hearing one tips for using water soluble pencils. I got mine out couple of weeks ago to start playing with. So great timing!
As a travel sketcher who has always traveled with watercolor pencils (or water soluble pencils) this video was inspirational. I love gouache and my acrylics but sometimes my pencils are easier. Thanks for this
One of my favorite mediums. Great balance of control and ability to really splash it around like watercolor. Loved the demonstrations - and your comment on water control being even more tedious is so true, small amount will reactivate a large area. I like how tiny bits of the original pencilwork can remain behind, if you draw with some force initially. It's also great for monochrome studies if the stronger pigment is chosen - I often do studies with just Caput Mortuum Violet
You truly are inspiring, as an artist and as a person, lovely drawings/paintings, beautiful snow, fantastic video. Just wished I lived next door to you 💖
Happy for these tips! I bought watercolour pencils a couple of years ago, but I really haven’t spent as much time as I should to learn how to use them. They seem fun/relaxing!
Gorgeous -- both the filming and the paintings. Thanks for the reminder that watercolor pencils work well in cold weather. I'd almost forgotten them as an option! (I usually add vodka to my plein air WC setup, which helps until - 5F / - 21C -- then all bets are off.) ❄🥶❄
I bought some FC Duer watercolor pencils a while back. I am so glad you did this video, I now have a better idea of how they work best. I've used them and combined them with Daniel Smith's walnut ink. 😊
Great pictures, Sarah! Good reminder to take the pencils out for a spin. I really enjoyed seeing you draw/paint these wintery scenes. I struggle with the medium. I have some Caran d'Ache and Koh-i-noor watercolour pencils and bith arr amazing!
Sarah, love your videos and how you captured the winter sunlight. As you have graciously shared which paints you use, can you please share which Durer pencils you used? (I have to buy them individually.). Thank you so much!!
Thanks greatly Sarah for sharing your inspirational talent and video explaining how you use watercolour pencils, I have a set but yet to create anything with them. Greatly appreciated stay safe and healthy
How beautiful theses landscapes look. Did you take your pencils out at last? Andwhy do we forget about those pencils. I myself like drawing and painting but my own bundel of Albrecht Dürer pencils ly (?) in the backside of my drawer. They are over 20 years old and I like them, but I don't use them very often and forget about them afterwards. Why is it? Because they have a little bit of an old fashioned touch to them? At least you reminded me of them again. Thank you for this beautiful video!
Inspiring work. Are you able to share the name of the piano music from about 6:55 to 9:00 ? And are the water brushes used to just apply water or color also?
These are beautiful!! Can I ask what color names you used in these pieces? I love that you used a limited palette for the winter scenes, I'd love to add a few to my collection :)
That is a problem that I am having right now here in Canada ... 30 below ... so frustrating . How long until May lol :) I miss being outdoors painting right now
Who plays the music that accompanies this 'demo'? It's very appropriate to the images and relaxing. Sounds like it's based on a Scottish traditional tune or at least uses a similar melodic pattern. Very evocative winter scenes as well.
Quality content on the use of watercolor pencils for landscapes is really missing in general I think - or maybe I haven't found the right resource yet. I loved watching this video and will consider joining you Patreon!
How do you have such poor technique with the pencils? It looks rough because you're coloring it in wrong, or do you not care because you are just wetting it anyway?
I hope your life gets happier. It takes a very miserable person to troll people for no reason. Make some changes in your life, and soon you will see that you have no time for pointless toxic things. You'll be amazed! Peace!
That was simply magical to watch. You made it look so easy, but I’m positive your years of experience in drawing, painting and observing nature are playing a large part in the wonderful results you achieve here with this relatively new medium. I especially enjoyed this video, but all your videos are really inspiring!!!😊
Thank you so much 😀 Yes definitely agree that time spent drawing and painting helps 'ease into' new mediums
You might want to try water soluble graphite as part of your winter color mix. I really love to use the Derwent Graphatint pencils. Also, the Caran D’ache marker tipped water brush is the best lifter that I’ve ever used.
Ooo, thanks!
Whatever art supplies you touch....its Midas touch...turns into Gold🎉😊
Agree!
🙃
Love what you did with the watercolor pencils. I received some for Christmas as wasn’t sure how to start using them. Now you have inspired me to try them. ❤
Wonderful - the demo, the paintings, and the natural landscape.
Absolutely Beautiful demonstration of using watercolour pencils.
Thank you so much! Floki has such beautiful fur...I've always admired it. He blends into winter scenes too 😊
Thank you so much for sharing your watercolor pencil techniques Sarah. Very inspiring as always.
I have followed your journey for over a year. I am pleasantly taken by your openness to share, explain, and experiment. Thank you for all do and all you’re going to do.
I love this!! It's relaxing to watch as well! So beautiful. Once again thank you Sarah for the inspiration! ❤

This works especially well if I don’t want the lines of the pencil to show.
Thanks for the palette tip.
Oh gosh Sarah. How absolutely mesmerizing and beautiful are these little vignettes!!? Your talent always slays me….
So lovely! I asked you a while back about watercolor pencils, and I am so glad you posted this. Thank you! I am realizing that watercolor pencils are my best medium...like it or not. The music went along with the artwork perfectly too. So many art youtubers have music that distracts from their work!
I always love seeing your process, it's so fascinating 😍
The circle paintings are my favourites. I love how the colours suddenly become vibrant when wet.😍

You are the master of so many mediums! What you did with watercolor pencils is stunning!
You beautifully captured the essence of winter stillness.
The music paired with your winter art is fantastic !
Thank you for showing how to use water soluble pencils. I get stumped with them. The shadows and light were beautiful
I love Albrecht Durer pencils, and have used them for years. Best quality. Thanks for the video..
Love this! Thank you so much because it's given me ideas for my sketchbook and my pencils which I love using but get hung up figuring out what to do. I love the mini-scenes. They do look so relaxing.
When in doubt, just start scribbling
I so love how you combine truly helpful painting information with a lovely cinematic experience. ✨💛✨

Thanks Sarah ❤ Ima get my pencils out.
Thank you for the tips on how to better use my Faber Castell watercolor pencils. I love your music and video of your cat.
It certainly was magical. Thank you for that. I am now inspired to get out my water colour pencils!
This was really special, I love landscape scenery
Flokie is such a joy!!😻
Hi Sarah, that was great please do more!! 😊
Absolutely beautiful ❤
wonderful! I fully understand the magic in turning the pencils into paint🤩

Relaxing and fun to watch… with tips accessible enough to try on my own 💙 Thank you, Sarah!
I love the suggestion to embrace those pencil marks! It's something I struggle with with this medium, but seeing your beautiful results helps me. 😉
Absolutely lovely!
Such pretty peaceful paintings 💙

Yea, sometimes it's just relaxing to use something with minimal setup, especially traveling
Absolutely beautiful. And you are such a good teacher, you explain and demonstrate so well. Thank you.
Thank you! I love watercolor pencils and I haven't used them for a very long time. I'm going to go get them out. Love your little vignettes.

Very good ! I love the Albrecht Durers. Your scenes are lovely. Thank you!
They are really nice to work it
Great reminder to get out our pencils. Who knows, maybe this winter you will give us a draw one of your photos on Insta. too.☺️
Happy for these tips! I bought watercolour pencils a couple of years ago, but I really haven’t spent as much time as I should to learn how to use them. They seem fun/relaxing!

At some point the paint warmer than we are!
These are great!

Bitter cold, you say? It's -20 here. Love your paintings and your detailed explanations.
OMG! I feel better, it’s a balmy minus 12 here 😅 Stay safe and warm 💕
Yikes!
Sarah, love your videos and how you captured the winter sunlight. As you have graciously shared which paints you use, can you please share which Durer pencils you used? (I have to buy them individually.). Thank you so much!!
Great video!! Thank you
Thanks greatly Sarah for sharing your inspirational talent and video explaining how you use watercolour pencils, I have a set but yet to create anything with them. Greatly appreciated stay safe and healthy
Might as well start with some swatches and layer tests to see what colors you can create :)
Loved the video!

Wow 😮
this is nice 😊
Beauty in winter………love
Magic.
So inspiring. Thanks. What is the German tapr you've used, starts with an H? Thank you
Inspiring work.
Are you able to share the name of the piano music from about 6:55 to 9:00 ?

For now we can enjoy the view out the window...or some reference photos 😅
Who plays the music that accompanies this 'demo'? It's very appropriate to the images and relaxing. Sounds like it's based on a Scottish traditional tune or at least uses a similar melodic pattern. Very evocative winter scenes as well.
Your cat is the long lost twin of my kitty (she passed about five years ago)! ❤
Here we'd use whiskey and accept the 'warm glow' added to the paint 😂
Has that Turner look.
My beloved Albrecht Dürer...
Quality content on the use of watercolor pencils for landscapes is really missing in general I think - or maybe I haven't found the right resource yet. I loved watching this video and will consider joining you Patreon!
I cannot cope with watercolour pencils 😮
I use them all the time especially if I'm going away
so pretty……….
First!
Damn, 7 minutes too late..
@@Eovielle 😂sorry!
Peace!
You can use alcohol instead of water? Maybe it’d keep you warm too if you have a driver!? 😂😂
I know vodka doesn’t freeze..😂
If you use alcohol, use synthetic brushes. Alcohol with make natural hair brush bristles dry and brittle.
