How to protect your business: 1. Pay your employees properly. 2. Treat your employees like people rather than property/assets. 3. Stop with the company culture bs, let your employee get their work done, and let them go home. 4. Get fcked.
Funny we are always told that capitalism is about competition when bosses and business owners do everything within their power to limit competition as much as possible.
Oh good. Now people that have spent a few months to years working for one employer now cannot be sued into bankruptcy for taking another job in the same field.
For the business owners that pay their employees what they are truly worth, and treat them like assets, won't be affected negatively by this. However, the business owners that take advantage of their employees and treat them like liabilities need to watch out. The first group of business owners are looking for your employees.
@people processes. The only reason a business owner should be scared of this law is if they treat their employees like trash. If you're a good boss, trust me, people will stay because its more rare to see a great boss . It's your business so it's your responsibility to struggle to grow it, not the low wage employee breaking his back to provide you with the freedom you want.
I hear you Acid! =). No doubt, a great employer will have no issue navigating this change. But I do know some companies where their non competes are a really big part of their calculus for their workforce. It allows them to "be great employers" in some ways. Either way, off the table now, and time to adapt! Thanks for the comment.
"how to protect your business" if you don't have the capital to have lawyers, you aren't successful enough that a noncompete will be helpful. The idea for this video is crazy
Im glad theyre going away. Why do i have to sign a non-compete as a private school educator? The knowledge im sharing with students is not proprietary or an industry secret.
Buisness owners are better off than employees. Non competes just make it worse. Ive seen non competes destroy peoples ability to do their job. You cant in good faith say that non competes are good for the workforce and economy. 😊

Since they are now banned, can I leave my job now, or must I wait until August?
Well, I cant give specific legal advice, lol. BUT the regulation banning them is in effect now. =)
