everytime I hear SURFACING - I get my angsty 16-year-old self-back - I never want to let that go.
I don't think this song will ever be on a poll because it was released as a single for WANYK but never officially made the album and it's called "All Out Life". That song could make it on your top 20! Without giving too much away, it has talking Corey, angry Corey and a maggot moment

This is one of my favorite song by Slipknot, I love everything about this song, the lyrics, the message, the instrumental ! It helped me a lot during dark times
The scenario you described is exactly what my life was like in early 2000's. Just change the word "work" to "school" lol
Slipknot was very important at a time when it felt like I had nothing. When that feeling hitted hard, I would tell myself I had slipknot and their music. It may sound cringe or silly, but it really saved me.

Self titled album is really good as a whole. This song makes me think of doing power slides in a driving game.

This the live show closer. And it's perfect.
The reason the self titled album sounds so different from their others and so unique (I don't mean musically as far as their style but the actual sound of the recordings) is because it was recorded in analog which was the old school way of recording. It really helps sell their sound for this album. There's such a difference between each album, especially between their first four albums both musically and vocally. It's just one of the many things I love about this band. Their other albums kinda move farther and farther away from that diy industrial serial killer hip hop oddball sound that the self titled album drips with. Of course other albums have it to various degrees but certainly not like self titled does. I kinda miss it but like all musicians they must evolve. But unlike most bands Slipknot have always found a way to keep their core sound intact while still experimenting and growing. I find that too many bands start with a kick ass first album and then ruin it by leaning into whatever their told will sell. The fact that Slipknot had the chance to and were encouraged by their label to sell out and instead released Iowa just increased my respect for them.
Also Roses Robinson produced this album. So the drums and guitars have a very slight Korn vibe to them, unlike the other albums.
What you said at the beginning (and end) is 100% true. Those are both of my "Bad Day" tracks from Slipknot. I'm not sure when you're getting around to "Wait and Bleed", but it will be interesting to see how you react to the song that introduced most of us ol' school maggots to Slipknot.
This song certainly is one of the many pushes that makes me move in the morning when I open my playlist😂
This is probably THE best album to introduce a new band. Everything is just in your face rawness.

Steadily lost interest as their albums strayed away from the old raw nasty stuff and got more catchy (yeah I'm one of those fans😂), but this holds up for me.
I appreciate they have grown as a band. I’m not a _huge_ fan of their later stuff, but it is still Slipknot.
I will always love their early stuff, but it would be weird to see 40+ year old Slipknot members trying to carry on that ‘angry jaded teen’ aggression from Self Titled!

You would be surprised also at some of Sid Wilson's solo stuff he released as SID, where his stuff as DJ Starscram can be quite limiting to react to, his solo stuff it can be very intimate and surprisingly nice with songs like "Bad History", or weird ass contaminated rap with songs like "The Cure" or "The Love Inside" :) keep rocking darling!, you're wonderful!
Many would think that Sid Wilson _wouldn’t_ be the one with a strong and extensive back-catalogue of solo material, but the reality is, he is a very competent musician in his own right!
@@realburglazofficial2613 yes, I like the fact he is so creative!, I recall an interview by Paul Gray (rip) saying "the guy doesn't have enough credit for how smart he is" - I can't find it now but was very refreshing to see taking Sid skills seriously.
I just hate he hasn't released those two albums in a physical format!, I'd love to have both
