Hello!!! Hope you're enjoying this triple feature. Next Slipknot video is Vermilion Pt. 1 & 2. It's already filmed. You'll see it eventually. Thanks for being awesome! :D
Keep the reactions coming and I don’t skip the reaction parts!!!!
Lauren, this song is about Purity Knight. ⚰️
Greetings from El Salvador. 👋🏻🇸🇻
If I can't sleep I listen to purity, danger keep away, virus of life and the burden. Always helps ASMR for maggots lol.
Hey, whatever works, I guess. :)
Point is your reaction is real. And u always say. Second time hearing
OMG SAME HERE A
Talking asleep to slipknot helped my insomnia especially the song Iowa
I shook Mick's hand once and he damn near crushed mine into a fine powder.
I would've peed myself. Or fainted. Maybe both.
He's a frightening man but they were super cool dudes. It made me a bigger fan seeing how awesome they were meeting nerds like me.
It took me a while to understand tattered torn, but after a while it became one of the most special songs i have ever heared
Purity was my anthem in my angry teenage highschool years lol. I still remember the lyrics written on the inside of the CD cover "HANDSONMYFACEOVERBEARINGICANTGETOUT" Love this song!
Purity is probably my favorite song off the first album
If you want to keep up with creepy slipknot, I would suggest "Scissors".
Great video, love them🖤
Mostly because you're just honest with your opinion
Eventually, yes.
One of my all time favorites of the weird Slipknot songs from the Self titled era
Purity is a very interesting story
AND
A very interesting story for the band to have it on their first album.
There's a video about the song and them trying to have it on their record.
Corey Taylor speaks out on Purity
I do know the story, but I may check that out anyway.
Purity is about a girl that was buried alive, so I think he meant to kinda show creepiness, fear and sadness all mixed in a same place. I think they made a real good job on the song, but I don't blame you for not feeling it.
I’m pretty sure the girl was named Purity
The good thing about that story is that it was made up.
@@RichDawg91 but at the time it was written they thought it was true
Nah this song is literally about a girl in a box look it up a guy made a homemade cellar thing in the middle of a corn field and kidnapped a girl and kept her there for a yr or something untill she escaped... Yes this is true😬
@@brandoncomeaux1618 it may be or may not be true. The author of the story said it was based on a fictional character he created but corey still thinks the story is true.
It’s an EPIC example of audio anxiety/chaos
It's a shame you don't like these songs but it's alright, we all have different taste in music. The next song I would recommend is scissors from the same album. Which btw is also Corey Taylor's favourite slipknot song!
Yeah, it's a bummer when I don't particularly like a song but it happens. Thanks for being cool about it though. I appreciate that. :) As for Scissors, eventually it'll happen.
You've experienced the majority of the band's weirdness by now. I think you're ready for 'Do Nothing/Bitchslap' off of Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. 😈
It's on the list. :)
@@MusicCatsandCoffee Good. I'm not saying that you'll like it, and be aware that it's not your beloved Corey Freaking Taylor on vocals. 😂
The song 'Purity' is a perfect explanation of the depression and self-harm and suicidal thoughts part of my life and how it felt
The first album is absolutely my favorite of the band, his madness is so unique
Psychosocial is an amazing song to be introduced too by them. That's the song that I first heard and I fell in love with it.
for me, this song really drives home the "mere exposure effect" because at first i hated it but i listened to hit here and there and eventually i grew to love it
Tattered and torn is one of their most disturbing songs. In fact it’s so disturbing that they never played it live ever again after their first official self-titled album was released (This one.) So it was only played live a couple of times during the forming process of the band in the album “Mate, Feed, Kill, Repeat” when the band didn’t even have an official name yet.
What can you say, it truly is a song of disgust, hatred, depression, sadness, hopelessness, loneliness and insanity from the deepest part of hell. It’s not a song you’re supposed to enjoy when you’re happy, it’s a song you’re supposed to cry with. And you ended up starting the video with it!
9:03 I love that little hand motion of like “ah hell yeah it’s Sid :)”
Puritys meaning is the most 'creepy' out of all of them
I have to agree. Duality probably is the best way to get into Slipknot. However, Sulfer is my favorite song. So that’s my answer :)
The Devil in I is a good song to ease someone into Slipknot
Agreed.
yess i was waiting for this, i like purity tbh, it's different, u can tell this is early slipknot, not holding back anything, the way Corey sings, all of this kind of takes a while to grow. And to answer the question, it depends, if someone is not into metal and wants to slowly get into it, then ill recommend "Dead Memories" but if someones fine with the genre, and wants something that overall represents slipknot, I think I would recommend "Unsainted". Thanks for the video, will be waiting for Vermilion :D
Ooo, yeah I guess a person's musical preferences should be considered. Hadn't thought of that. And I do like Purity more than I did when I made this. It's still nowhere near my top 10 but it's better now. :D
@@MusicCatsandCoffee not in my top 10 either but its great haha
Dead Memories to kick off with then follow it with Duality, Sulfur and Psychosocial. Seems about right.
Good list! :)
respect to your opinion . and a huge respect for this powerfull music from this awesome band
Thanks for checking it out. I love Purity, though I'm not a huge fan of Tattered and Torn and barely pay any attention to the intro filler track. I would be curious how you would have felt about Purity on it's own, but probably not any different. Anyway, as for the first song I would use to introduce someone to Slipknot, it would be either Duality or Psychosocial. I'm leaning towards Psychosocial.
You may have a point there. I'm thinking I actually would've felt different with Purity its own. The first two were just so...I don't even know, that the weirded out feeling sorta lingered into the third song if that makes sense. That said, I like it more now than when I made the video.
The introductory go to should usually be Duality I think. But I also think Before I Forget works well too. As for something more recent I’d say Unsainted. Also I’m sure somebody already mentioned this but they’ve basically erased Frail Limb Nursery, at least as it pertains to rereleases or any remasters of the self titled album.
I like that u jumped up the maggot. Brigade. And feel free to call your friends maggots
I'm benge watching your slipknot story and enjoying it. You ask what song. I saw them the first show in LA at the Paladium. Obviously there's a lot of good legendary songs. But the song I would blast back then: Everything Ends. That's my recommend for the first 2 albums. But I love the reactions, keep it coming.
PURITYYYYYYY
My creepyness I listen to music after work. Nice to jam with someone
Purity is definitely one that you need to read up on the story behind it. I think that's where your disconnect is. Once you learn the back story and give it another listen I think you'd appreciate it much more.
Yesss
Well...hate to say this, but I did know the story behind it before I heard it. :(
@@MusicCatsandCoffee haha well then, maybe it's another one of those that'll grow on ya
Actually that first distorted sound in Tattered is not Craig or Sid, is just Josh guitar with a lot of effects, and that make now the things more dificult to figure out, now i don't know if a sound is samples or turntables or a freacking guitar.
Oh, ok. Never would've guessed that!
@@MusicCatsandCoffee Yeah, in the first time i listen i think is Craig or Sid, but if i remember there is a very old live that we can see Josh playing this part, and every guitar cover they play this part.
Can you do sleep talk by dayseeker? It's pretty chill
A good starting point for someone e who's never heard slipknot is wait and bleed
I got my Slipknot rug today! It’s from the “All Hope Is Gone” album! I sent a picture to my brother and he said, “That looks so inviting!”😂🤣🤷🏻♂️
That's so cool! :D
Lmao I had 2 slipknot posters on my wall and one was from the 1999 album cover and the other one was from all hope is gone. And when I first put them up I was so happy but then when my sister came in my room amd she got scared and she told me what the hell did I get and she ended up snitching to my mom about it before I explained that it was a band to her and she made me take them down and throw them away and I had never been to pissed in my life I literally felt like punching the shit out of someone.
@@kidneytransplant2843 I know this is a horrible thing that happened to you, but my god, that made me laugh :D
I think psychosocial is a good song to choose if it's your first time listening to slipknot it's a good mix of "angry Corey" and "singing Corey"
Ooo yeah, that's a good choice. :) That was my first Slipknot song actually.
@@MusicCatsandCoffee lol same
That's the one I would suggest for your first time in the Slipknot rabbit hole, and always check out the live stuff not the official videos if you know nothing about the band as the creepy factor is worse on the videos than live.
THIS. Yes, totally agree. One of the many reasons I don't do music videos here.
You should hear this song live from London 2002. They add and change a lot of it.
There's a demo version of "Purity" called "Despise".
Get this is a definite
Out of all of these the best is Purity, also Frail Limb Nursery is only on very old copies of the Self Titled cd, it is now not on any of the digital or physical versions of S/T, FLN and Purity are basically connected completely. Scissors is definitely dark, but holy hell the guitar is sinister.
I know, this songs are not for everyone and thats fine, personally this one diluted and scissors are my favourites of the álbum but we all hace different tastes and thats great
Songs: Scissors and Iowa
I started from duality some years ago :)
i saw them live back in 2016 after of mice and men and manson opened for them it was a amazing show they completly stole the show
a very good jumping off point is Wait and Bleed. its just a really good song.
Haven't heard that one yet. One day...
@@MusicCatsandCoffee i think you would like it. there is a version with screaming in the verses and one with almost only singing. personally i like the one with screaming more but that's probably because that's the first version i heard.
frail limb nursery and purity were removed from the original self titled after some kid killed himself to it, really purity is just one of those songs maybe most cant truly connect with until they've had one of those days, weeks, months, years whatever the timeframe is ya gotta spend some time under attack feeling like life is tearing you apart and just when you're tired of feeling like the world around you is burning down, you play purity instead of playing with matches haha.. oh and old skool before the internet was cool legend has it, that little girl on frail limb nursery, those were recordings of her in a basement for a day or 3 going crazy before some dude killed her or try to kill her, I dunno, heard it more than once, but never looked into it
check out Skin Ticket off of the album Iowa. its arguably more creepy lol.
It's on the list. :)
@@MusicCatsandCoffee
👍
Duality and Wait & Bleed.
Tattered and torn is basically 90% pinhead
Just found ur channel great reactions 👍 I know why you don't really like this song is because it's true real story when I learned this it made me look at the band different and how heavy and deep their lyrics actually are 🤘
Good starting point for Slipknot would probs be Duality or Unsainted
❤
Sulfer is a pretty good one to start with in slipknot 101 lol
That'd be an awesome class. :)
Think my first was "wait and bleed"
GIRL!!! PLEASE REACT TO SOME DRUM CAMS!!! YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!
I most definitely would! The only one I've seen is Jay doing...I think it was Unsainted. So which one should I watch? :)
@@MusicCatsandCoffee I'm a little late but plz react to the people=shit Joey Jordison drum cam. Joey will forever be the best drummer in slipknot, such a talented dude.
the devil in i would be good for beginners
try Skin Ticket :)
id recommend psychosocial or duality for newly listeners
Thank you, thank you thank you! Lol
You're welcome x3 :)
You kinda have to take into account the fact that this was their debut album, their entire sound was much more... raw, unfiltered, on the verge of uncontrolled psychosis (in the case of the creepy songs like these).
They were super young, mid 20-somethings that were hungry, rabid and ready to take on the entire world with their music - and their passion for serial killer stuff
(remember, they're from DeMoine, Iowa - one of the dullest places in the world, according to many...so probably there is a tendency of your mind wandering off through the endless corn fields, giving birth to some seriously fucked up imagination and sick thoughts)
was poured by the gallon on this record, while also being free to experiment with creepy-ass sounds as much as they could stretch it, to their hearts' desire.
In contrast, I think you'll find that as a whole, Vol. 3 (The Nameless, Virus of Life) feels much more... professionally produced - and the unsettling atmosphere & sounds are much more focused, subtle and arranged together (in comparison, their debut album.sometimes gives you the feel that they threw in everything and the kitchen sink and saw what stuck and worked in the conposition).
The bass in Virus of Life is still orgasmic, though - just like in Purity. RIP Paul Gray :(
Loved your video, regardless!
Hope this little insight helps your perspective on their songs!
This definitely gives me some perspective, thanks! I've been to Des Moines. It's a helluva lot cooler than my town. :)
If no one has told you to do so yet look up the case of Purity Knight to see what it's truly about
Roses are red
Violets are blue

Microwave.
For 1st time listener i think. Wait and bleed, Before i forget,Nameless, Nero forte,
That was weird. Point I put on slipknot and get ready for next work day
I put on Slipknot to clean my house. I've never felt more motivated to clean in my life. lol
@@MusicCatsandCoffee Cool! What are some of the songs you put on?
you should probably do Psychosocial and Before I Forget, both are more of Slipknot's mainstream/radio-friendly songs that I don't think you have reacted to yet. But if it's someone that has never listened to them I typically do Duality, Snuff, Nero Forte, Vermilion pt. 2, Psychosocial, and The Devil In I.
Also it's fine that you don't like it, I feel like the more time and listens you give Purity the more you will get used to it and perhaps like it. You should also probably know what it is about. So Corey wrote this thinking it was a real story about a girl named Purity Knight who was kidnapped by her ex-lover, put in a box, and buried alive. He thought it was real because there is this whole crime scene website that has pictures, audio, etc for it. But it turned out that this website just has fictional crime scenes and they try to make it look real. And since it is fictional the website has the rights to it and so they wanted to sue slipknot for copyright, and so the song had to be taken off of the album. Eventually Slipknot won and it's on the 10th year anniversary edition of their first album. If you want to see what Corey saw when he wrote the song, the website and exact page is still up.
www.crimescene.com/purity-knight
I already know those so that's why there aren't videos for them. :) I knew a handful of their songs before I ever started making these videos. As for your list. those are good picks.
"Something aches. Bad things slither. All my floors are burning down. And I can't find a window."
What is that? Its a description of what it feels like to have a psychosis. That's what it is.
As for what song I would chose to introduce people to Slipknot... if it's a non-metalhead we're talking about, "Dead Memories" would probably be the safest choice, since IMO it's a very radio friendly song. "Unsainted" would probably be a 2nd choice (I have a feeling that Unsainted reached to quite a lot of people outside the metal genre when it got released).
If it's a fellow metalhead we're talking about.... pfff, much harder decision. If the person we're talking about predominantly listens to death metal or more heavy stuff in general, Gematria, Sulfur, All Hope Is Gone, Sarcastrophe, Skeptic, Lech, The Negative One... there are quite a few bangers in their catalogue to chose from.
If they're into "softer" type of metal, Liar's Funeral, If Rain Is What You Want, Danger: Keep Away, Goodbye, maybe Killpop.
please dont forget about wherein lines continue and spiders
Another Knot trio, short songs from 1999: Me Inside, No Life and Diluted.. :)
Listen to 515 & research the backstory on that Intro song from Iowa album 🙂🙂
I love Slipknot with a passion but I don't necessarily like all their songs. Not a fan of the first two parts of this if I'm honest but I do love Purity. That's the way it is. If you fancy a break from the scary shizzle then check out AOV from the Gray Chapter. It's got everything you need. Heavy as hell in parts, gorgeous chorus, melodic interlude, angry Corey, melodic Corey ànd a tour de force from the awesome sauce Jay.
Aov is in my top 5 Slipknot songs it's bloody awesome I love it. Angry Corey FTW
Purity is easily my favorite of the three, but it's nowhere near my top ten. AOV is definitely on the list. :)
i guess scissors is next?
A good starter song would be Before I Forget, this song shows how good they are at what they do. :)
Good choice! :)
No, no singles pls.
Another creepy song you should listen to is scissors
Child of Burning Time by Slipknot would also be a good song to start with. Or The Blister Exists.
I'll have to take your word for it. I haven't heard either of these.
Personally purity is the scariest slipknot song but I think that's mostly because I know the background to the song and the "case" even though it's fake it feels so real and I know in my mind that at some point in time someone was subjected to this treatment its terrifying in its grounded really... pardon the pun
Still no one recomended iowa?
I would say duality or dead memorys not to scare them off
Or unsainted wich got me into them.
You want creepy, listen to the song Iowa. Trust me
I often wonder what Bach, Mozart etc would make of the most monumental Tool songs that I consider masterpieces.
Well, I know for a fact that this would either kill them or motivate them to kill themselves :D
My whole life I thought he was saying hands on the face of Luke Perry lmao
I dont read lyrics
Or at least never really did for this album. 22 years of lies!
HAHAHAHAHA! This is the best. :D
If I have to say an opinion on purity it's way better live because it's more interesting It matches the live aspect better the album sound quality is not as interesting because that live he does more acting skills mixed in with the song and gestures to make it more interesting a little song and I really love it live and he gets louder with his voice too he can add more brutality to his vocals compared to the recorded version so you can put more passion in his vocal cords lol
Still waiting to see you discover the lyrical master that is Dani Filth. 😁
I dont think shes ready for that haha
This wouldn't involve a Cradle would it? :D
@@MusicCatsandCoffee correct
@@MusicCatsandCoffee yes. A filthy one at that. :P
Songs I recommend for Slipknot newcomers:
1. Psychosocial
2. Before I Forget
3. Wait and Bleed
4. Duality
5. Snuff
6. Dead Memories
7. Gematria The Killing Name
8. Gehenna
9. The Devil in I
10. People = Shit
A top 10 list?! Gold star for you. :D
@@MusicCatsandCoffee Comes with being a maggot, I listened to all of their albums religiously to get a feel for them and hand picking them for in case newcomers need pointers
Slipknot - Iowa [the song]
Slipknot - Scissors
For more creepy corey pretending to be a stalker killer songs.
İRİWYW You understand? 🤔
Heh I was about to go to sleep 😅
Hmm i would say psychosocial because it's there most known for song if u asked someone who doesn't really listen to slipknot to name a slipknot song I would say 8/10 times they would say psychosocial. But Duality is a good pick too 😊
Yeah, that's probably true. :)
What is with that finger thing??? We can tell when you hit the mouse button because the music starts back up. Stop with that stupid finger thing. 😡😡😡
"That finger thing" is so I know where to start/stop the audio when I edit, since I have to add it in afterwards. But wow, my apologies for ruining your day. You could always just watch other videos instead. I'm pretty sure there are a few other people who make similar content. Have a good one! :)
