This is where it starts picking up momentum. I watched this show the first time on movie tube in 2 sittings while snorting coke and drinking Woodford reserve (& water bongy)
Love this episode. This season was filmed in my town. That banh mi shop where they eating outside is actually a snowball place in norco Louisiana. That’s Valero and shell chemical plant in the background. And the tent revival scene was built and filmed in the spillway, it was dammed at the time. My aunt and uncle were even extras in that scene. I actually watched a scene being filmed from about a block away. Didn’t know it was going to turn out to be this arguably best season of a show ever.
I saw Angie Dickinson in Dickinson, ND. True story. She was there for the inauguration of a Horse Racing track. I saw the back of her head. I think it was 1980.
Love this show - no hero's just well written protagonist. You guys might like Northman and Green Knight. And omg that dudes honesty with a gun in his face, 'she did, but just a little bit' was hilarious.
Clyde lol. Matthew does have some equestrian features tbh. this show and tropic thunder catapulted MattMCc way up on my favorite actor list..up there with denzel and deniro now
20:42 When I was young, probably 5th of 6th grade, my dad left the truck of his government issued car open. I saw Polaroids of a crime scene victim. The photos were like this. Not great detail, fuzzy, but bloods stains on carpet.
This episode really showcases a nice inversion of the two main actors and their characters: while Rust is a skeptic of religion, Matthew McConaughey is a devout Christian, whereas Woody is a skeptic whose character defends religion.
As much as a fucked Rust was. Marty is one big hypocrite tbh. From cheating to his wife to telling the others that being married created boundaries. I just love these 2 in action.
Tbf to him, that was present day marty saying that which made it seem like he learned from and regretted those mistakes as opposed to just being a hypocrite
I really try to like Marty in these early episodes, but he's such a hypocritical bastard with pretty much everything he says and does. Rust has his issues, but at least he's not speaking with insane hyperbole or outright lies with nearly every word that comes out of his mouth.
The chemistry between Woody and Matthew in this show is just so fucking good. The dislike, the respect, the begrudging friendship, the anger. Goddamn.

Idk where i was going with that. I think my point was that it was super intense to me. I felt like i was in the HIDTA with rust lol
Bro when rust goes on his nihilistic/existential rants I feel like I'm on drugs too in a good way lol

Marty be getting his lawn mowed & his side piece plowed.

“And finally, we arrive at Reginald Ledoux.”
You know the difference between you and me?
“Denial”
Still my fav line of series, lol,

That Cena edit had me rolling 😂
What is that even from originally lol?

I'm glad Bralik (I'm assuming) resolved the tech issues with the editing. It seemed like a really really stressful situation.
Facts
The ending monologue + building eerie music + crazy gas mask dude imagery goes *HARD*
Can’t even describe the feeling I had when they showed Ledoux like that. What an introduction.
Oof madon'. That Rust is a real mezzamort, a real downer.
whatever happened to guys like Rust Cohle. The strong, silent type.
A lot of the top guys had dark moods.
Hahaha....well played sir....well played.
Your son tried to off himself? "no, he lacks the constitution, he gets the blues idk
Oh poor you
“The world needs bad men. We keep the other bad men from the door.” right after Marty breaks through her door 🥶

See every other story ever made for other examples of this.
Its all just one story
As much as a fucked Rust was. Marty is one big hypocrite tbh. From cheating to his wife to telling the others that being married created boundaries. I just love these 2 in action.

Man I can’t wait until you get to the tracking shot. I get to watch you guy’s experience one of the best scenes in recent media history
Marty jealous cause he can’t bother trimming his wife’s grass down below.

Imagine if Marty was a better person on the show/ the show would have been boring.
@@christopherking4932 Correct, both of them being flawed but in different ways is very important part of their relation.
