So the restaurant owner noticed this guy left without paying, called the cops, waited for the cop to arrive, and this guy was still that close to the location? He needs to work on the “dash” part of “dine & dash”
Bro was waiting for a Uber to show up to get a free ride.
No. He seems unhinged. I really doubt he had a plan.
He argued and confused the bar owner so much that the bar owner kicked him out and called the police.
The guy really seems like he can confuse his way out of it. No idea what’s wrong with him, but he wasn’t a typical dine and dasher

my “friends” did something similar to me. On top of leaving me at the table with the $60 bill, i left a $10 tip. when i was leaving, the waitress came up to me and said “you know i make my living off of tips right?”, so i had to give her the last 20$ bill in my wallet

No bro you don't understand. He has a Robinhood account and he's a daytrader with so many investments and so much money. You're gonna have to apologize to him for saying he can't pay. 🤣
I swear this is someone I knew in high school who invited all his friends to a restaurant for bottomless wings during a football game then got mad that there was a mandatory gratuity added if you have a party larger than 5 (he invited 12 people) and full on argued with the manager for over a half hour refusing to pay the gratuity
He doesn't understand that you can't pay for services with stocks. Just because you have the means, doesn't mean you have the MEANS.
@@lawrencetalbot8346I'll be honest, gratuity fees shouldn't be a thing. It's a thing in the US because restaurant owners can't be asked to pay their employees well. Unless you have 25k in the market to trade over 5 times in 7 days….you’re not a day trader
As a part time trader you're 100% right. It's literally just calculated gambling. Looking for patterns, picking investments that will pay out within your expected time, it's literally gambling. Redditors & Meme stock ppls always lose money because they just try to pump up a coin then one or two guys out of a few hundred make any profit. Dine and dash is despicable. I worked as a bartender for 2 years during college at a very popular bar that catered mainly to the fraternity/sorority crowd. At least two or three times a week, we'd have a customer run up a tab all night and when we went to close it out, the card would get declined. We had to take down their name and if they didn't reconcile the bill within 7 days, that amount was split amongst all the employees and deducted out of our checks. We were being paid $2.35 an hour because we got tips. After deductions, sometimes my checks were under $10. Many restaurants penalize the specific waiter or waitress when a customer runs out on the bill.
That doesn't seem legal to charge employees for customer theft.
Honestly you can't run up a tab in my country. You either pay up or don't eat/drink...

the oceans 11 thing is so accurate it's fantastic. maybe the officer at the restaurant had an incredible and acrobatic "stealing the keycard" sequence enacted on him while he cluelessly drank his water.
That cop is about how I would expect a key west police officer would act, he’s so chill he’s prolly used to dealing with drunk people.
He even went to the trouble of trying not to startle the guy- who just commited a crime- by saying he just wanted to get his information about it. He was so kind! One time when I was 18 and had my first job in a restaurant, I had to talk to a lady cop about a whole family who just dined and dashed and her first words to me, knowing the full situation that just happened, were to treat and talk to me like I was the one about to be arrested. I was shaking the whole time. Some people man.
I never thought I would see someone "spamming emotes" I the real world. But Charlie is 100% on it when he says that's what this guy is doing.

*Life Lesson: Whenever dealing with police, it is always best to be polite, honest, and respectful. I know that seems cheesy, but I've literally been set free by cops on multiple occasions when I was totally guilty or at fault, simply because I was super friendly and cooperative. Cops have to do paperwork for everything, so if ur nice and cooperative they might let u go just to avoid the bullshit paperwork. But if u act like an idiot, or if u act petulant, or if ur an asshole, or rude/disrespectful (etc), then cops will usually bust ur ass just to spite u.💀😅
You also probably got really lucky. But I do agree at the very least it makes things a lot easier.
Life lesson: don't rob people

@clsa1370 yeah ngl, one time my younger brother and husband got pulled over for speeding while theyd been hitting a blunt in his car. They said the car was literally filled w smoke when the officer pulled them over, and he knew they had weed in the car, but they STILL somehow got away with just a warning. Definitley a combination of both of them being white and being lucky they got pulled over by a lenient cop lmfao.

The Democracy Manifest guy if I remember right was basically an ex-con that was eating at a Chinese food place when they mistook him for a guy that was known to dine and dash in the area. Knowing the system pretty well, and not really knowing why he was being arrested but pretty sure he was innocent this time, he decided he wanted to make a big stink of it to mess with the officers cause "why not" basically. He then apparently gave an interview saying he was trying to deliberately get put in a mental hospital, but gave other ones later saying he basically just started that rumor to see if they'd believe it. So basically, he's just a chaos goblin that decided to mess with everyone because he got annoyed they interrupted his meal
I’m gonna start using “chaos goblin” from now on 😂😂😂😂
When the intrusive thoughts win
I saw an interview with him where he says he thinks he was a little drunk
Actually the guy they thought he was wasn't known for dine-and-dashing in the area, he wanted for 19 counts of fraud and receiving stole goods totalling around $70,000. The dine-and-dash part comes from his resemblance to Hungarian chess player Paul Charles Dosza, who was known for dine-and-dashing.

I work at a restaurant, and we once had a 20 person group come in and rack up a $700 almost $800 bill. The host ran out on us and never paid, and seeing as only the host is responsible for paying here they got off for free. This was two months ago and as of last time I checked the host has a warrant out for arrest. So, yeah.

Its still crazy to me that people out there are this delusional. Any sane person would immediately realize they’re in the wrong by not paying for food you ate, especially a $70 tab which aint exactly a small loss
My thoughts exactly. How out of touch with reality do you have to be to think this is okay? How even further out of touch do you have to be to believe somebody else would believe the nonsensical explanation for not being able to pay.

Why should you have to pay for food at a restaurant when you don't pay for food when going to your relative's hous efor dinner? Do you feel guilty for not paying your relative money when they invite you for dinner?

I ran up an 80$ something tab, and when I went to pay, the bartender handed me back all of my money, and then refused to elaborate or even say anything further.
I stood there VERY confused, and drunk.
After like 10 seconds, I just turned and... left?
