Sexy and sex appeal appears in cartoons at times. I remember in the Polish dub of Johnny Bravo he actually says "pulsating sex" at some point, but not sure how it is in original.
Also "Adultescent" is a loose translation of a french term which basically meant "a young adult that still lives like a teen" , which the show's immature raunchy humor and somewhat absurd world building makes a lot of sense with that target audience. I really don't understand why, the show ended up on a kid's channel but it's pretty obvious it wasn't supposed to.
It seems like the problem wasn't in the creators for creating inappropriate content but the people who rated the show seemingly without even watching it or understanding the dialogue. I suppose maybe they needed to get a rating before they could get funding for the voice acting and translation and so maybe the raters did not get a good enough picture of the content. The content isn't inherently offensive, but showing it kids is harmful and irresponsible of them
I noticed in your other comment that even French broadcasters originally aired it on a family channel as well before moving it to a more adult channel. I guess the misunderstanding about the content of the show started before they even brought it over to the U.S. I wonder if it was still on the canal+family channel when it was brought over.

Looks like a modern version of the french raters going "oh, it's an animated show, that totally means it's meant for children" like when they first bought and aired a TON of anime back in the 80's without... actually watching it, I guess. (Back then, the french dubbers also tried to make things like Kenshin the Vagabond sound less violent, resulting in hilarious voice acting.)

I've seen videos about "Who is animation's WORST couple?" If there was an answer, it would be them. They make Peter and Lois look tame in comparison, but not lesser; they're still terrible, yes, but not AS shitty as Bunny and Candy. They need therapy. Like Cosmo and Wanda in A New Wish. Or have them break up entirely since they ABSOLUTELY don't deserve each other. Maybe you can have them reconcile, but have them be JUST friends. And I dunno, ACT NICER TOWARDS JEAN-FRANCOIS? He deserves better friends than them. Seriously. I can see him being besties with Modchi since they're the best characters of the series. No questions asked. It's final. Give my boy some justice >:(

this show _looks_ very good. the characters are cute, simple, but still very distinctive, their apartment is so cozy and invokes a sense of nostalgia, the outline around the 3D characters looks great as does the choppy and bouncy animation. extremely pleasing to look at and feels like a unique time capsule of the aesthetics at the time - and i say unique because despite its 2009isms it still looks extremely different from what a lot of other animated shows looked like at the time. love it
It's such a shame how Bunny Maloney is a show with great visuals but lacks with its story and characters. I would love if this show was remade with the same animation style, but different writing
Bunny Maloney's name is a reference to Bugsy Malone, the titular main character of a gangster musical comedy film, hence why Bunny has an NY accent in the dub.

Are you sure about that? I can't find a source for that, and there is a reggae singer from the late-70s/early-80s who went by the name Bunny Maloney. He was produced by reggae legend Harry Mudie, and some of his songs are extremely well regarded by collectors. If you search for "Bunny Maloney" here on UA-cam, adding words like "reggae" or musician (to help filter out results related to the cartoon), you'll find many uploads of his songs. One upload I just saw, for his song "Ethiopia" has over 270k views (my point being that while he's somewhat obscure, he's not so obscure that he doesn't seem a more likely inspiration for the character's name). As a 50-something year old, who is also a huge fan of Paul Williams, I assure you I grew up with and adore 'Bugsy Malone,' but I can't find any evidence that the creators of this show took the character's name from the film.
Hearing the premise, seeing the cutesy and highly stylized designs, and taking into account the timing of the show's initial release, part of me wonders if the showrunners were inspired by Pucca.

This feels like one of those cases where it was originally supposed to be an adult show, but the people airing it saw pink cartoon rabbits, and immediately thought "this must be for kids".
It was absolutely is. This show was apparently televized on canal+ which is kind of an everything chanel which meant it had family friendly shows and movies aswell as adult oriented content, and i'm guessing American TV network saw this show and immediatly assumed it belonged in the children's content cathegory, it was actually aimed at young adults and teenagers which also explains the anime-esque aesthetic since anime and mangas were ridiculously popular in younger audiences since the 90''s which led to the creation of many anime inspired french cartoons since the early 2000's, a notable example being Wakfu and even Miraculous Lady bug in a way.
This is furry Osomatsu-san. Like the Bunny is Osomatsu and Candy is Totoko. It's so Japanese comedy but because America has this 'animation is for children' thing going on and they saw the main characters were bunnies

I kept thinking the whole time how good this show looks and how successful some of the character designs are. The thing that I find interesting about Bunny and Candy specifically is that Bunny has big eyes and Candy has smaller eyes, which is opposite of the typical sexual dimorphism of anthropomorphic cartoon characters, though Candy still has lashes. My big brain idea for changing Candy to be more distinct is to make her a mint green color, so she's both opposite of and complementary to Bunny, which is what their relationship is meant to be like. Theoretically. If you close your eyes and plug your ears.
A few observations: 1. These characters look just like late 2000s vinyl toys. There must have been merch of them, right? 2. A couple of these episodes bear a striking resemblance to Foster’s Home, namely the one where the blue guy becomes famous for repping deodorant, and the one where everyone is obsessed with buying a specific kind of cookies

I'm a french animator. when you started recaping what this cartoon was about I started thinking "damn this is cringe in a very familiar edgy-weeb kind of way. it sounds like something that could have been created in france somehow" and then I realized you didn't say it WASN'T french, went to check, and was hit in the face with the fact it was in fact, a french animated TV show. Hate being right. (Yes I'm watching this from the studio I work at instead of animating.)

This show would have landed so hard with me in middle school. The aesthetic is so perfectly online flash cartoon (thinking There She Is), the contrast of cute but "edgy" adult-ish humor is just like all the anime I loved. Even the bickering protagonists was a in the wheelhouse of shows I liked. The fact that it was a show being dubbed into English and therefore had the mystique of "changes from the original"! It's a shame they didn't actually watch it before they put it on the air and chose such a baffling network to put it on. It had its wings so clipped
the fact that bunny maloney is inspired by Japanese anime made more sense on why its "bizarre" in the first place. bunny is a every unlikeable male anime protagonist (mostly romance anime), candy is violent girlfriend trope (maybe also the childhood friend trope) who always attack on the protagonist, charlotte is Ms. fanservice of the series, And Jean-Francois is the only normal and likeable character than the protagonist.

Based on my memories of being a young adult in 2009, the former was something the general public was more cognizant of back then. BTW you mentionned canal+ being a family friendly channel, it wasn't exactly true, it featured a few rather risky programs. From what I gathered it was moved from canal+ family to canal + because of the raunchy mature humor

It had shows (also aimed at children) that were risqué and inappropriate, some even more than Bunny Maloney itself (Kaeloo, Les Crumpets, OVNI, etc). And ironically from what I heard, Bunny Maloney was intended to premiere on the child-oriented (which aired mentioned shows above BTW) "Cartoon+" block (coincidentally on it's launch date) that was simulcast on both Canal+ and Canal+ Family, but was pulled from the last minute since it was deemed as inappropriate for the block. This is the same block that aired The Simpsons at one point. The series later premiered in June on the Canaille+ block instead (which, ironically, was initially meant for a young pre-school audience back when it launched in 2003), and also later broadcast on a block named "Takaz" (which I guess was meant for a teenage audience, since it aired shows like Kaeloo and Total Drama).
i feel like i should point out that all of the katakana in the show is gibberish, except for one building in the city which is labeled “konami”. very cool of konami to be a canon part of bunny maloney
I'm a french viewer and the minute you said it was a show made for kids with weird/suggestive content I knew it was from Canal+. There are multiple french shows from the 2010s like that : Kaeloo, Wakfu, Titeuf... it was a strange time to be a kid here love the video!!

Fun fact: Kabillion still exists as a OTT on demand service on smart TVs. It's a hollow shell of its former self, its social media pages are like an empty desert field, and its less acccessible, but it miraculously and hilariously enough, still exists. They don't have the rights to the show anymore and they probably won't renew since management/leadership of Kabilion changed and it's too adult for a kids network. It sucks, but it is what it is :(
mediatoon currently has the rights to the english dub afaik, though they don't seem particularly interested in distributing it anytime soon. however there is a password restricted "screening room" for bunny maloney on their website. it's possible that some of the currently lost episodes could be found if someone had the password. that being said i do not have it and i don't know how one would gain it without pretending to be a channel interested in licensing the series, which is definitely fraud

As the guy who spent MANY months resurfacing the once lost episodes of the French Dub on my archive channel when it seemed like no one else wanted to (And believe me, I went through HELL getting through DRM and Regional bs) I'm SUPER happy to finally see a video on Bunny Maloney of this caliber! You'd be surprised at the amount of tidbits and scraps people have found over the last few years from Demo reels, old promos, etc.

I watched this whole video, and my autistic ass already came up with a reboot, that fixes some of the issues, while expanding on the source material. That has multiple seasons, each with a little arc. With a more varied cast, and an actual rogues gallery. And it will only exist in my mind cause I don’t have the time, money, following, and directing skills to make it a reality.
when i was maybe 9 or so, i used to watch kabillion pretty frequently. i remember liking this show a lot, but then my mom came in while i was watching it. specifically during some bit about a woman shooting lasers from her nipples? kabillion was banned in our house after that.
I don't think I'll ever forget Bunny Maloney, nor will I ever stop talking about it. I remember the first time I watched it was when I was 9. It was in the Kabillion:Girls Rule on demand. man I remember getting an autograph from one of the creator when i went to a con once (it was probably the Japan Expo in Paris or the other big con in Switzerland i cant recall)... it was ages ago and I prob lost it since XD oops. I haven't been to a con in so long, i kinda miss it.
I saw this show and ironically, I recall not watching this show until like...2011 or 2012, and I thought it was an attempt to make a TV-PG show in the same veign as Adventure Time and Total Drama Island (this show even hired one of the latter show's writers, Erika Strobel), but it premiered before AT, but during the period where Total Drama was doing pretty well in CN. Another factor why this show has sexual jokes at times; it's from the same production group who did Code Lyoko, MoonScoop, a French animation company. Code Lyoko also had rather weird out of pocket moments like seeing SIssy in underwear and seeing half of Yumi naked. French cartoons just have this odd tendendy to be unashamedly horny on main at times. The only exeption being Miraculous Ladybug, and ironically, it's probably the BIGGEST cartoon they've ever made.

I can't wait to see how crazy this series gets As someone that frequented (US) Kabillion (Girls rule, Boys Rule, and Kids) this was genuinely crazy to me. The most mature on there I had seen was Bratz. I think that all your criticisms read well and I agree this should have just been an adult animated sitcom. I feel like the age demographic they "tried" to hit as well as the time crunch didn't allow them to go as deep as they wanted. Overall good video I really enjoy these recaps especially for shows I never had the chance to watch.

I saw the clips on your twitter and I thought it was a Super Milk-Chan thing where it has that cute vinyl toy style but is for adults and was surprised that it wasn't. Then, I was like "oh well I guess it could be a jokey dub meant for adults" and was more surprised when it wasn't. But yeah, if you're interested in this show try out Super Milk-Chan. There's two different English dubs: one that stays pretty true to the original Japanese script and one that replaces all the original Japanese pop culture references with American ones. Unless you want to read a ton of Translator's Notes or are super familiar with late 90s Japanese pop culture I don't recommend watching a subbed version. For reference, the translators and writers for the English dub had a super hard time working on the English version because of how much it relied on Japanese pop culture. This was in 2004 so a lot of people didn't know that much about Japanese pop culture like we do today. Adult Swim were super adamant on doing a very accurate English dub very close to the Japanese script for some reason and that's why it flopped at first. It just wasn't very funny to the average American I guess. The Americanized version did a little better. I can't remember if both of them or just the Americanized version was done by the same people who did the Ghost Stories dub.
Torn between 'Europeans and a lot of non-Americans are more chill about having their kids exposed to the concept of sex compared to Americans, and in a way I think that's healthier in the long run' and 'man what was this show doing on a channel that people in the comments said they saw this at the age of 7' and 'man I really loathe 'haha I hate my romantic partner!!!' setups'.
Random idea that came to me while at work In this hypothetical Bunny Maloney remake, Charlotte could double as a deuteragonist and second antagonist alongside Debilla- whatever his name is Taking her crush on Maloney and shifting that to a sorta Credulla de Vil situation, instead of wanting to date him, she wants him for his fur But she's not pretending to be nice, it's actually an alter ego (like a Jykell and Hyde situation), she's still the airheaded "bimbo" character but sometimes she'd snap into a sorta mad scientist fashionista Just a random idea to add more villains to the show
The artsyle is so of the era, foreigners trying their best to emulate some sort of cutesy japanese-ish mascot style. And only the french could ever come up with such a plot, with the most French humor ever i swear oh lord.

I remember when Adventure Time said sexy and I was so amazed on how they were able to get away with it.
Also "Adultescent" is a loose translation of a french term which basically meant "a young adult that still lives like a teen" , which the show's immature raunchy humor and somewhat absurd world building makes a lot of sense with that target audience. I really don't understand why, the show ended up on a kid's channel but it's pretty obvious it wasn't supposed to.
Well now that I think about it, he character of Bunny Maloney is a very good exemple of an "adultescent"
It seems like the problem wasn't in the creators for creating inappropriate content but the people who rated the show seemingly without even watching it or understanding the dialogue. I suppose maybe they needed to get a rating before they could get funding for the voice acting and translation and so maybe the raters did not get a good enough picture of the content. The content isn't inherently offensive, but showing it kids is harmful and irresponsible of them
I noticed in your other comment that even French broadcasters originally aired it on a family channel as well before moving it to a more adult channel. I guess the misunderstanding about the content of the show started before they even brought it over to the U.S. I wonder if it was still on the canal+family channel when it was brought over.

Looks like a modern version of the french raters going "oh, it's an animated show, that totally means it's meant for children" like when they first bought and aired a TON of anime back in the 80's without... actually watching it, I guess. (Back then, the french dubbers also tried to make things like Kenshin the Vagabond sound less violent, resulting in hilarious voice acting.)

this show _looks_ very good. the characters are cute, simple, but still very distinctive, their apartment is so cozy and invokes a sense of nostalgia, the outline around the 3D characters looks great as does the choppy and bouncy animation. extremely pleasing to look at and feels like a unique time capsule of the aesthetics at the time - and i say unique because despite its 2009isms it still looks extremely different from what a lot of other animated shows looked like at the time. love it

Are you sure about that? I can't find a source for that, and there is a reggae singer from the late-70s/early-80s who went by the name Bunny Maloney. He was produced by reggae legend Harry Mudie, and some of his songs are extremely well regarded by collectors. If you search for "Bunny Maloney" here on UA-cam, adding words like "reggae" or musician (to help filter out results related to the cartoon), you'll find many uploads of his songs. One upload I just saw, for his song "Ethiopia" has over 270k views (my point being that while he's somewhat obscure, he's not so obscure that he doesn't seem a more likely inspiration for the character's name).
As a 50-something year old, who is also a huge fan of Paul Williams, I assure you I grew up with and adore 'Bugsy Malone,' but I can't find any evidence that the creators of this show took the character's name from the film.
I don't care how much personality he lacks. John Francois is still the best character, and I've always thought that as a child.

This feels like one of those cases where it was originally supposed to be an adult show, but the people airing it saw pink cartoon rabbits, and immediately thought "this must be for kids".
It was for adults the original pilot (which is on UA-cam) was way more sexual and violent

This show was apparently televized on canal+ which is kind of an everything chanel which meant it had family friendly shows and movies aswell as adult oriented content, and i'm guessing American TV network saw this show and immediatly assumed it belonged in the children's content cathegory, it was actually aimed at young adults and teenagers which also explains the anime-esque aesthetic since anime and mangas were ridiculously popular in younger audiences since the 90''s which led to the creation of many anime inspired french cartoons since the early 2000's, a notable example being Wakfu and even Miraculous Lady bug in a way.

I’m flabbergasted seeing someone mentioning this anime again😭😭😭 its presence do creep up on you the moment you expect it the least once in a while
I kept thinking the whole time how good this show looks and how successful some of the character designs are. The thing that I find interesting about Bunny and Candy specifically is that Bunny has big eyes and Candy has smaller eyes, which is opposite of the typical sexual dimorphism of anthropomorphic cartoon characters, though Candy still has lashes. My big brain idea for changing Candy to be more distinct is to make her a mint green color, so she's both opposite of and complementary to Bunny, which is what their relationship is meant to be like. Theoretically. If you close your eyes and plug your ears.
A few observations:
1. These characters look just like late 2000s vinyl toys. There must have been merch of them, right?
2. A couple of these episodes bear a striking resemblance to Foster’s Home, namely the one where the blue guy becomes famous for repping deodorant, and the one where everyone is obsessed with buying a specific kind of cookies

I'm a french animator. when you started recaping what this cartoon was about I started thinking "damn this is cringe in a very familiar edgy-weeb kind of way. it sounds like something that could have been created in france somehow" and then I realized you didn't say it WASN'T french, went to check, and was hit in the face with the fact it was in fact, a french animated TV show. This show would have landed so hard with me in middle school. The aesthetic is so perfectly online flash cartoon (thinking There She Is), the contrast of cute but "edgy" adult-ish humor is just like all the anime I loved. Even the bickering protagonists was a in the wheelhouse of shows I liked. The fact that it was a show being dubbed into English and therefore had the mystique of "changes from the original"! It's a shame they didn't actually watch it before they put it on the air and chose such a baffling network to put it on. It had its wings so clipped

Based on my memories of being a young adult in 2009, the former was something the general public was more cognizant of back then. I have very vague memory of this show but as a french person I distincltly remember it airing along other adult animated shows, so it's odd that it would air on Kabillion in the us
BTW you mentionned canal+ being a family friendly channel, it wasn't exactly true, it featured a few rather risky programs. From what I gathered it was moved from canal+ family to canal + because of the raunchy mature humor
@@NOT.NEREIDE And even then, Canal+ Family wasn't really a "family"-friendly channel. It had shows (also aimed at children) that were risqué and inappropriate, some even more than Bunny Maloney itself (Kaeloo, Les Crumpets, OVNI, etc).
And ironically from what I heard, Bunny Maloney was intended to premiere on the child-oriented (which aired mentioned shows above BTW) "Cartoon+" block (coincidentally on it's launch date) that was simulcast on both Canal+ and Canal+ Family, but was pulled from the last minute since it was deemed as inappropriate for the block. This is the same block that aired The Simpsons at one point.
The series later premiered in June on the Canaille+ block instead (which, ironically, was initially meant for a young pre-school audience back when it launched in 2003), and also later broadcast on a block named "Takaz" (which I guess was meant for a teenage audience, since it aired shows like Kaeloo and Total Drama).
I remember watching Bobby's World and The Real Ghostbusters.

Fun fact: Kabillion still exists as a OTT on demand service on smart TVs. It's a hollow shell of its former self, its social media pages are like an empty desert field, and its less acccessible, but it miraculously and hilariously enough, still exists.
They don't have the rights to the show anymore and they probably won't renew since management/leadership of Kabilion changed and it's too adult for a kids network. It sucks, but it is what it is :(
mediatoon currently has the rights to the english dub afaik, though they don't seem particularly interested in distributing it anytime soon. however there is a password restricted "screening room" for bunny maloney on their website. it's possible that some of the currently lost episodes could be found if someone had the password. that being said i do not have it and i don't know how one would gain it without pretending to be a channel interested in licensing the series, which is definitely fraud

As the guy who spent MANY months resurfacing the once lost episodes of the French Dub on my archive channel when it seemed like no one else wanted to (And believe me, I went through HELL getting through DRM and Regional bs) I'm SUPER happy to finally see a video on Bunny Maloney of this caliber! Thank you for this!
I plan on eventually compiling all of the found footage of the lost english episodes together in one video. You'd be surprised at the amount of tidbits and scraps people have found over the last few years from Demo reels, old promos, etc.
Do you have any plans on uploading the french dub episodes somewhere more easily accessible? It'd be nice if it was available for people who want to subtitle the show into english.
I had a dream that this video caused the show to have a huge resurgence in popularity, and I went to some kind of Bunny Maloney baking competition???? The entire random cabin in the woods is was held at was flooded by a huge tsunami before the competition could be held and I had to swim back home.

Found this show through a Tumblr blog highlighting "Obscure Blorbos" and was so hooked on the few episodes I could access - I had no idea there were more though! So nice to see such a big video dedicated to this pure eye candy

I knew the Discord logo looked familiar when I first saw it!! Jean Francois!! ...I think most of my memories of this show are from when I watched TV all day because I had a cold, so already not the warmest nostalgia, but I forgot _quite_ how awful the main couple were to each other! No wonder sweet innocent blue was my favourite! And... I think maybe a couple of those episodes never made it to the channel I watched it on lol! (Either Pop or Kix, iirc.)

2:03:30 im glad you mentioned it because i was thinking the same thing, and casually you made an example by showing an edit of Candy with yellow fur, knowing that jean-françois represents blue ofc and bunny represents red (based on his uniform), it would be great if Candy had yellow skin/fur(? and her uniform being yellow, making them blue, red AND yellow, primary colors, would make them stand out by chara design even more and it would make them visually pleasing, idk thats my opinion lol

"inspirations" need 2000 words to answer, but for short i wanted to make the more contrast possible, showing sorts of "sanryo" characters like hello kitty , with real adults concerns, fun and... hem troubles... i was stunned by Evangelion and gainax series at that time, and a lot of anime classics (city hunter, macross, fist of the north stars… even old japanese robotto anime and sentai, from great mazinger to chodenshi sntai bioman, etc.) but in another part of my sick brain, i really loved adult punk french indies comics... so... i tried to melt all of my pop culture inside... 2 , yes, i would like to do everything to produce another season , so i'm on it but be sure that it would take a veryyyyy loooong time...

I watched this whole video, and my autistic ass already came up with a reboot, that fixes some of the issues, while expanding on the source material. That has multiple seasons, each with a little arc. With a more varied cast, and an actual rogues gallery. And it will only exist in my mind cause I don’t have the time, money, following, and directing skills to make it a reality.

when i was maybe 9 or so, i used to watch kabillion pretty frequently. i remember liking this show a lot, but then my mom came in while i was watching it. specifically during some bit about a woman shooting lasers from her nipples? kabillion was banned in our house after that.

I don't think I'll ever forget Bunny Maloney, nor will I ever stop talking about it. I remember the first time I watched it was when I was 9. It was in the Kabillion:Girls Rule on demand. I saw it bc the animation looked cool, and I had nothing else to watch 😭 I didn't know how inappropriate it was until now
oh this is such a fun watch. i ended up drawing charlotte and candy during this lol. this compelled me. the style of this show is soooo up my alley and watching and listening to u go thru it was very enjoyable :)

man I remember getting an autograph from one of the creator when i went to a con once (it was probably the Japan Expo in Paris or the other big con in Switzerland i cant recall)... it was ages ago and I prob lost it since XD oops. I haven't been to a con in so long, i kinda miss it.

I saw this show and ironically, I recall not watching this show until like...2011 or 2012, and I thought it was an attempt to make a TV-PG show in the same veign as Adventure Time and Total Drama Island (this show even hired one of the latter show's writers, Erika Strobel), but it premiered before AT, but during the period where Total Drama was doing pretty well in CN.
Another factor why this show has sexual jokes at times; it's from the same production group who did Code Lyoko, MoonScoop, a French animation company. Code Lyoko also had rather weird out of pocket moments like seeing SIssy in underwear and seeing half of Yumi naked. French cartoons just have this odd tendendy to be unashamedly horny on main at times. The only exeption being Miraculous Ladybug, and ironically, it's probably the BIGGEST cartoon they've ever made.

As someone that frequented (US) Kabillion (Girls rule, Boys Rule, and Kids) this was genuinely crazy to me. The most mature on there I had seen was Bratz. I think that all your criticisms read well and I agree this should have just been an adult animated sitcom. I feel like the age demographic they "tried" to hit as well as the time crunch didn't allow them to go as deep as they wanted. Overall good video I really enjoy these recaps especially for shows I never had the chance to watch.

I saw the clips on your twitter and I thought it was a Super Milk-Chan thing where it has that cute vinyl toy style but is for adults and was surprised that it wasn't. Then, I was like "oh well I guess it could be a jokey dub meant for adults" and was more surprised when it wasn't.
But yeah, if you're interested in this show try out Super Milk-Chan. There's two different English dubs: one that stays pretty true to the original Japanese script and one that replaces all the original Japanese pop culture references with American ones. Unless you want to read a ton of Translator's Notes or are super familiar with late 90s Japanese pop culture I don't recommend watching a subbed version. For reference, the translators and writers for the English dub had a super hard time working on the English version because of how much it relied on Japanese pop culture. This was in 2004 so a lot of people didn't know that much about Japanese pop culture like we do today.
Adult Swim were super adamant on doing a very accurate English dub very close to the Japanese script for some reason and that's why it flopped at first. It just wasn't very funny to the average American I guess. The Americanized version did a little better. I can't remember if both of them or just the Americanized version was done by the same people who did the Ghost Stories dub.
Torn between 'Europeans and a lot of non-Americans are more chill about having their kids exposed to the concept of sex compared to Americans, and in a way I think that's healthier in the long run' and 'man what was this show doing on a channel that people in the comments said they saw this at the age of 7' and 'man I really loathe 'haha I hate my romantic partner!!!' setups'.
Guess it depends.....

Random idea that came to me while at work
In this hypothetical Bunny Maloney remake, Charlotte could double as a deuteragonist and second antagonist alongside Debilla- whatever his name is
Taking her crush on Maloney and shifting that to a sorta Credulla de Vil situation, instead of wanting to date him, she wants him for his fur
But she's not pretending to be nice, it's actually an alter ego (like a Jykell and Hyde situation), she's still the airheaded "bimbo" character but sometimes she'd snap into a sorta mad scientist fashionista
Just a random idea to add more villains to the show
The artsyle is so of the era, foreigners trying their best to emulate some sort of cutesy japanese-ish mascot style. And only the french could ever come up with such a plot, with the most French humor ever i swear oh lord.
I actually think they won an award for the best non Japanese anime lol
