    Well I was not expecting Salice Blu to be shown! What a wonderful happy memory I have of that place as I done a cookery class with him! Picked herbs from his garden, taught us knife skills to fillet and cook mackerel, made tricolour pasta and gnocchi! Luigi is a star!

    My first trip to Italy 1974. US Army sergeant meets an Italian girl dancing in Germany in a Jazz club. On my FIRST DAY of arrival in Europe. lol WOW, what a start. I reported in to General Charles Otstott, NATO HQs and was told, 'Sergeant, go out. Have some fun and try the German Bier'. Ok I will. 2 hours later I was drinking German TUCHER in Nurnberg where Hitler gotnhis start. I was thnking of my father who served in WW2. Suddenly a tiny Italian asked me to dance.Walla. 47 years later we are in Malibu, California. yes, I brought her home. However, first I met her family in LAGO DI COMO, ITALY 1974. What a trip driving from Germany to Italy. At high speeds in a Mercedes. I met Mamma, Papa, my future brother in law Cesare. Then found out they were quite respected family and famous for their foods going back centuries. FERRARIO FAMIGLIA. Bread. Pasta. Candies. etc. They had storex all over Northern Italy. Papa, Enrico, Ferrario was a Master Chef. They had a beautiful VILLA on Lago di Como. I took a boat trip. Saw the sights. Had a great time. 2 years later this surfer, former hippe from California was sitting in that Villa with Papa, Enrico Ferrario at his dinner table, in an Itaoian handmade suit, Valentino tie, Italian shoes. Nervous. I had to ask for his daughters hand in marriage. MATRIMONIO. MAMMA MIA. Paura. I was scared to death. Ring in a box in my hand. sitting patienty teing Enrico I would go to University. Study hard, make something of myself and return to Italy to live forever with his daughter. My wife! 1976 March 16 we were married in a marriage that ooked similar to The Godfather. lol Everyone was there. Carriage with horses and more. Just amazing. Italy has history, families expect respect in return for their gracious behavior. They are open, loud, giving, and live life with passion. It is very colorful....In 1981 after college I became Marketing Mgr. for JOHN DEERE CORP. Italy. Earth moving equipment. I had 17 italian salepeople reporting to me. No women? Don't ask. It was 1981 and Italy. Thus, my wife leaving Italy for America telliung me and the family she was done with her country.? WHAT? What just happened? My dreams crushed. Bt, what about Lago di Como? Switzerland? My Job? La Famiglia? Il Futuro? You can imagine how FURIOUS the family was and Papa red faced and embarrassed. The had of the family could not change her mind. To California we went back to beaches of Malibu, Santa Monica. Where we are now. Everyone has passed away in Italy. we are alone here watching waves crash on the beach Vs the lifestyle of italy. Quite strange how life turns out as we look back....BTW: Mariangela became VP of Warner Bros Studio, film/music division working with Fleetwood Mac. KITARO. Managing mel Gibson. Ariana Grande. Stallone loves her. Liam neeson refuses to work with anyone else. She was right. USA was better for her. For me? Don't ask. lol management. Actor. VO. screenwriter, Songwriter: 'Oxyge-A Love Story' by James Hall, Bandcamp.com (my first release) soon Tarron Crayton, producer, Bass player to Kacey Musgraves will work with a Female singer fir this song I wrote, arranged and 3 back up singers, All black band. It will be nice. Tarron is a great friend and extremely talented.....LAGO DI COMO. *This is what you get above when you mention this Lake. lol MEMORIES. LA FAMIGLIA. PAPA. MAMMA. MIO COGNATO. FOOD. FUN. LIFESTYLE. CLOTHES. LANGUAGE IS SO ROMANTIC. MUSIC. *I love it all. I am Italian inside. My brother in law always told me this. I belonged here. Ciao tutti, ci vediamo in Italia presto, Giacomo

    It's amazing that you can't hear the whipping wind whilst commenting on the boat- great sound engineering!

    Thank you for this video! This was the first of your videos I've seen, and I was specifically searching for a video of Lake Como. I really enjoyed seeing it all, and you gave a great presentation of what experience I could expect if I traveled here. I would have liked to hear what the boat craftsman had to say about his craft; you had others talk about their work. I don't know if this was because he didn't want to speak, but it crossed my mind that maybe it was because he wasn't comfortable speaking in English. If this were the case, an interpreter would be a good addition to the show, as needed. Either way, I loved the show, I liked and subscribed, and I will be watching more. Thank you!

    Is it possible to hire a tour from Milan to Lake Como, see Villa de Balbianello for 1 day? And possibly ride on a boat?

    Do you suggest purchasing train tickets for October in advance?

    To all Americans Please stop saying MILARNE..you are in Italy so ask any Italian how to pronounce MILAN..MILARNE is so annoying.

      @TheTourGuyVids  2 місяці тому

      We don't think most Americans say it that way. That might be the British 🇬🇧
