Thank you for sharing some of the best footage I've seen from Burning Man 2007
Thank you for your kind words, Westin. This year we can celebrate Burning Man past and future.
@@scott11 Yeah I'm trying to take it as the "Burning Man's Greatest Hits" year and really delve into the journey Burning Man has taken me on.
Very cool of you to say that, Nicole. Thank you for the good vibe and kind words. Enjoy the Burn! :-)
@CelebrateBig - you stated it beautifully and if you want quiet beauty and the playa... just go to the Temple right before sunrise and find Nirvana in nature and art. and the sacredness of the human emotions left on the walls. Burning Man in my mind... is one of the ultimate places to go and experience your fellow humankind with the ancient playa, old as time and nature beneath your feet. Can't wait to go to Rites of Passage... have my tickets and its like 90 days away now.. and counting..
This is seriously the best video documenting the overall feel and content of the festival. Thank you so much for the post!! This helps me to try and explain it to people who have never been. : )
True true, amvelloso. Burning Man has served as a catalys for so many sub-groups, many times consisting of people brought together from around the world through BM yet with shared causes. Some of those groups focus their energies on combining fun with community service oriented themes, which is a great combination.
@CelebrateBig - That is a monetary transport truth. I get there in a 86 Ford Ranger Truck and camp in a maroon and blue rennaisance fair pavilion at 9:30 and H, by the bathrooms, but it is all Paradise to me. I am always amazed at what other people bring and that is what builds the Black Rock City. Every year I go, when I see the City, it looks like it just dropped down from space. I live in Reno, NV so I go to the Playa and without the City it is just an amazing eternal vastness.
KunFuAliens2000: it takes a year to prepare yourself, a week of the unknown out on the playa, 3 days afterwards to clean out all the grit from every small crevasse imaginable, and then a lifetime of incredible memories.
I do strongly recommend going the whole week if you can. The beginning of the week has a completely different vibe and sense of community than the hectic party at the end of the week, and of course both parts of the week are an amazing experience. The full week really rounds it out, and considering how much effort it takes to be on the playa try for the week. That said, going for three days will likely be three of the most memorable days in your life so far, so go for it!
Very nice film! I never even thought about going until this year. Your film is one of my first forays into what it is all about. Completely fantastical. Thanks for posintg.
Thank you for the nice comments, Travelin' Dave! I enjoyed your fun Burning Man trailer vid as well!
Nothing to be sorry about there, Moose. Thanks for the nice vibes and hopefully we'll wander into each other out on the playa-of-the-world soon enough!
Burning Man IS school. It just has a different kind of curriculum. Much more valuable than any textbook and lecture! :-)
I sure hope so! I'd love to come out and learn from all the wonderful, loving hoopers on the playa. Maybe some day!
Thanks for this - brought back good memories, and is excellent for the all round experience . Not as good as being there, but good to show friends.
It is certainly possible to be homesick for the playa, Komarny. That means you need to go soon. :-) When they welcome you at the entrance gate, the Greeters even say "Welcome Home"!
Agree with you on that, MrZen2000! To me, Burning Man is an amazing, really and truly one of a kind experience that has never been replicated elsewhere. But in some ways it is even more important what people do with the experience during the other 51 weeks of the year, taking its message and possibilities with them to share with others around the world.
@CelebrateBig - Let us not forget the airplanes, Lear Jets and other aircraft that fly into the Black Rock City Airport..... with people and their gear. .... I love Burning Man.....
@veveM Thank you, veveM. The 4 main soundtrack songs are all by Moby (used with permission). There are also a few other short snippet songs from directly onsite. The main Moby songs are (with approximate time spot locations in the video):
0:00 Flying Foxes
04:40 A Freak
06:00 Flying Over The Dateline
08:04 We Start

Cool, Dave. Thank you for that. It looks like you have some fun world travelling music going on yourself!
Agreed, Mamskipo, it was a great BM year. Hopefully more and better yet to come, and hopefully you'll be a part of it again soon enough!
@SilentBud420 That sounds like a fun ride! Everyone's pumped on the way there and has great stories to share on the way back!
@FranksDead F Yeah, FranksDead!!! That gives you lots of time to psych up, prep, and remove all obstacles to going there.
This year is going to be my first year at Burning Man! And I'm already getting the good vibes from the vid :)
Thank you, Cork. There is LOTS of space out there on the playa to do some hooping, so hopefully you get the opportunity to show everyone your own hooping special sauce, BM style!
You got it right, ServerAdd! I preceded each Moby by the minute:second that it appears in the video.
Thanks for the nice comment, and glad you liked it. Definitely agree on it being the "best festival". Nothing else comes close.
Glad you got your mojo with the dojo, Wienrvil!
@Ellieurs Thanks for the kind comments, Ellieurs. Definitely agreed on the good memories... every time I watch it I get Homesick to go back! Hope you get back on the playa soon...
Yeah, Bixlerscott, it definitely is an Ultimate Party. I agree that the gift economy is pretty amazing. 50,000 people in the middle of a desolate desert, completely dependent on themselves and those around them plus whatever they brought in the front gate, yet hardly anything for sale! You can buy some basic drinks + ice at Center Camp, but that's it. They don't check what you bring in (except looking for non-ticketed stowaways), so it's up to you to make sure you are fully prepared.
Partly agreed, Kevin. It is impossible to see everything at Burning Man, both because of the sheer volume of great happenings because of so many things occurring spontaneously in front of you while other things are occurring spontaneously on the other side of the playa at the same time. Instead of being sad, though, look at it as being filled with the wonder and excitement of it all. And it's always a reason for you to go back the next year, though it will be different then anyhow. :-)
Great vid, thanks for sharing these experiences! Hope I'll see you out there sometime!
@0816bries That is sounding very very real, 0816bries! Yes, good vibes are the must have to bring. Fantastic Vibes are the must have to bring back.
...And it's different every year, continually defining its own form of "trippy", PatTheAnchor!
You have some positive things going for you, Heartagram: you can look forward to a great experience, and you have patience... Enjoy the rest of the year savoring your plans! :-)
Hi again Komaromy. By chance, that song just came on Pandora while I was listening to it! The song that starts around 4:02 is "Satisfaction" by Benny Benassi on his album "The Biz - Hypnotica".
It was "Rites of Passage" for 2011. Mysteriously and unusually, the 2012 theme has not been announced yet.
An easy starting point is the Regionals section of the Burningman (dot) com website, and from there you can start getting contacts and suggestions for smaller venues/parties as well.
Hey, thank you, Lemonsthemelon! Cool vibes from you on that. Regarding your question: it's best to bring an open mind for anything, and everything else is optional and free form up to you. :-)
Thank you for the video! So cool!
@KingKook It is all a matter of what you find to be your own Paradise. One is not better than another, simply different. The joy I find in Nature is the quiet and beauty.... In Burning Man, the joy I find is in experiencing my fellow human spirits in all their majesty and diversity. It is all Good... Nature and Man... there is great beauty and truth in both.
And that isn't open up and say ahhhhh to the dentist either, Zorbazoo. :-) Definitely agree with the great memories...
@mwitty100 Well said as well, Mwitty. The extremes of the excitement, energy, and all 5 senses from the night before makes the beauty and quiet even more appreciated as part of the daily rhythm at Burning Man.
@128inArizona Cool, thanks for sharing and spreading the playa scoop.
I absolutly loved the video. great vibe and cool sites travelindave
As a raver you'll love it. Store up LOTS of sleep beforehand, because you sure won't get any at Burning Man. :-)
Cool, jotomas2. The nice thing is that when you do go... it will likely even exceed what you imagine it to be. Hope you get the opportunity to explore the playa!
this looks like a super trippy festival, never heard of it till i watched a bassnectar vid.
Watching this, I'm really just getting one thing...IT'S FUN!!! I'm really hoping that I can get time off this fall to go, because it looks like a complete and total blast!!
I like your goal setting, Anpaol2. If you do it right, going to Burning Man can be a big and positive influence on those next 18 years...
Thoughts from a future burner:
This looks like the ultimate life experience. I've been wanting to go to the Burning Man ever since I found out about it (like four years ago). I'm 18 years old now, unfortunately I can't go yet but it's definite that I will, someday. See you guys at the playa :)
Thanks, Eddie!
You have some mighty fine taste in Places In The World, Moose! :-)
@psyfertech Hey Psyfertech, the majority of folks bring tents, though there are an increasing number of RVs, vans, etc. on the playa. Just remember that whatever you bring will be thoroughly encrusted with an extremely fine dust, in every nook and cranny imaginable. If you own your own RV, plan on a major cleaning operation afterwards. If you rent, plan on the same or large clean-up costs, and some RV companies specifically exclude rentals to Burning Man. Lot easier to hose out a tent.
Yeah, you make me home sick reminding me of how home sick I should be. :-) Glad it has positively affected the rest of your life too, Zacmanjebus, as it has mine.
Exactly, you answered your own question. THAT is where you must go, Jack! :-)
Hey thanks, CorpulantPorpus. Sounds like you have carnal knowledge about the essence of the experience!
@person11392 All of that weird stuff sprouts out of the dry lake bed like flowers, and whithers back away into the playa for another year. Interesting lifecycle. :-) The other answer is: lots of cars, trucks, flatbeds, RVs, and even the occasional bicycle and hitchhiker, all bringing their stuff with them. We rented a big moving truck one year for a larger installation, and were able to pack into station wagons later for a smaller camp.
@killagsound Well, wow, thank you Killagsound. Haven't received a direct compliment like that in a while! :-) Thank you.
You capitalized the right words there! FUN! :-)
Wow! Cool stuff
aargh! muffin people!! i love this video, i hope i one day get to visit burning man ;)
Agreed, Ticktockedout. Certainly not a typical arts and crafts fair or 4H Club event! :-)
Grannynara, definitely go! You can find answers to all of your questions and more at the Burning Man website. They have a "First Timer's Guide" that is the best place for you to start learning about all the particulars.
@McKleeny Thanks for positive words, McKleeny! Have a nice Burnin' day. :-)
Yes you said it good
NOTHING ELSE COMES CLOSE !!!!!!
:D
Thanx man, for those names ill be trying to find those songs now....
Hey Nicknacmania, surely you've traveled for a vacation before? You just need to figure out how to get to Nevada: car, bus, carpool, etc. The much harder thing than getting there for most people is being truly prepared for creatively contributing to the event plus not having access to electricity, water, supermarket, showers, etc. for an entire week. I'd recommend finding out about local Burner events or parties near you, hooking up with some folks, and creating a camp together.
wow i cant wait.. going to be a Burning Man virgin 2011 ...
@KingKook Hi King Kook, I certainly agree with you on the beauty of the desert night sky, butterflies, and wild flowers, but I choose to see beauty in the creative energy and unique community of Burning Man as well. I choose to enjoy both, and believe they can both be part of amazing life experiences. Separate and different, and perhaps each is actually accentuated by the existence of the other.
this video is AMAZING
thank youuu thank youu
@Voltaire805 Yes, but not the usual camping under trees in a campground! :-) No trees, lots of heat and dust, but the "camp fires" are MUCH bigger than anything you'll see camping elsewhere, and the "Rangers" are of a different breed who are completely fine with loud party music and interacting with your neighbors 24 hours a day.
bravo! I could almost smell it :)
Cool, Patrick. Hope things are well for you in South Korea!
thanks clebratebig :D
Yeah, 6itch, I thought it was unqiue that a TV sitcom actually had a full episode about Burning Man so I found it online. It was pretty funny to watch, both for some tongue in cheek "in jokes" and actually to see the parts that were really completely different than actual Burning Man and made up to fit the story. An interesting part of Burning Man "outside world" history and trivia! :-)
Trippy in all senses of the word, therealITO549! You won't find this at the local county fair... :-)
Excellent, Solusres! Thanks for letting us know what that track is.
i loved your video, so cool
amazing...
very nice my friend
@Dalai0Lama00rocks Oooooohhhhh, that sounds very intriguing, Dalai Lama! Nice home while at Home, but just make sure they stand up well to windy dust storms!
Here are all 4 main songs in my video, all used by permission from Moby:
0:00 Flying Foxes
04:40 A Freak
06:00 Flying Over The Dateline
08:04 We Start
Yes, it can be that long at the very peak time. But I can see that you "get it", Misty Green: you continue the gift economy and help make the long line into a fun community event!
@WLG2K Very beautiful comment. Thanks for the good vibes! :-)
Damn it. This is possibly the best vid I've seen on burning man. Most of the other ones made me not wanna go but this one! WOW I seriously have to go..... I'm guessing its okay to bring drugs =P
@bluepieter Very very cool, Metalholic. It appears that you'll love Burning Man, and it will love you too. :-)
Yeah, it's a great experience. You should "stop by" BM someday, rmindenton!
@aapch1 VERY well stated, Aapch1! Thanks for sharing.
Hey DannySamurai, the intro song is "Flying Foxes" by Moby.
@RealLoveRevolution just remember to drink as much water as you can before you step foot on the playa, and keep drinking water, unless you are accustom to a hot dry environment that first day can be a real downer, also pack in a good electrolyte replacement drink mix, with low sugar its a great pick me up when you start to drag. as well as breath strips great way to clear the throat from playa dust. and a hint, bring your own cup and plate with you where ever you travel, you never know
@Onscherpschutter Yes, I gave you the correct song at 4:50. Here are all 4 main songs in the video, all by Moby:
0:00 Flying Foxes
04:40 A Freak
06:00 Flying Over The Dateline
08:04 We Start
Merci, Nemesis60310. J'espère que vous pouvez venir visiter, dans le Nevada, un jour!
@pinkpikachu5500 I rarely hear about different generations going together, so that is very cool. You should both have a great time, especially when you come in with your adventurous and open spirit.
@some18youknow Hey, Some18youknow, it is about "in the middle of nowhere" as you can get in the continental US, which is part of the point of where it occurs... no neighbors to bother with thundering techno and explosions around the clock. :-) It happens every year on the dry playa north of Gerlach, Nevada.
@flamulated Cool, Flamulated. And you just so happen to have just under an entire year to get ready for next year's shindig. :-) Hope you make it out to the playa to enjoy the magical experience first hand.
I don't know how to get to Nevada from Germany.
I hope this still exists in 10 years.
Certainly understand your perspective, bogmon. However, I encourage you to look deeper into some of the positive aspects of BM as well. I have been inspired by the gift economy concept of BM (different than a "barter economy"), and it has infused aspects of life away from the playa. Also, creativity, togetherness, peaceful coexistence, freedom of expression, working to common purposes, local BM community, expanding people's lives, and more do serve positive purposes toward what you hope for.
@Dollypopy Devirgination here you come, Dollypopy! Enjoy moving to the next level. :-)
@clockworksackboy Great advice, Clockworks! Also, the main Burning Man site has a helpful "First Timer's Guide" that is necessary reading for BM Virgins everywhere.
It seems impossible to see EVERYTHING at burning man. I would be sad about some of the stuff I miss and never even know about!
@MsNooneinparticular You certainly have a mission with focus. BM can make your dreams come true, whatever they may be. Enjoy every minute of it, especially those that you can remember later! :-)
