- Join us as we cruise our narrowboat with Fran and Rich on Laura Maisies from UA-cam channel @FloatingOurBoat, from Cromwell Lock to Torksey Lock on the tidal section of the River Trent. After seeing horror stories on UA-cam and social media of boats running aground, fire brigade rescues, and engine failures, we were nervous about on first trip on tidal waters!
Hello! We're Caroline and Pete, and in 2021, after 10 years living in Texas, we sold up and moved back home to the UK to live full time aboard a 60ft narrowboat with our West Highland Terriers! Join us in our day to day life as we continuously cruise the canals and rivers of the UK. All of the ups, and the downs and everything in between!

I love watching your videos. I spent a lot of time growing up on my dad’s and grandfather’s fishing boats. I find the sound of the narrowboat’s engine very calming. The background music is lovely too. ❤❤

Your dogs seemed to have settled well to living on a narrowboat. Sorry to hear about Jasper. I am sure that he lived a long n loved life n gave u plenty of good memories.
Thanks Cheryl! We live having that pop of colour on the roof! All the dogs adapted so well to boat life, and Jasper loved to sit up on the back deck watching the world go by. He certainly lived a life full of adventure ❤️. Thanks for watching 😊

Great video! You had to keep your wits about you with that guide! A bit vague in places ‘where the trees go down into the water’ and ‘under the graffiti tag’ on the bridge! Good vlog showing others how it’s done, nice one 👍 xx 😘

Hi guys. Rick and Sue from SW Florida, US. We love All of your videos and watch regularly. I think you could make great cinematography even better by improving your audio, live and over dubs. River Trent audio barely audible over engine noise. On other videos Caroline’s audio very high pitched lacking a warm normal sounding voice. We love you guys and often wish we were onboard. Thanks Rick and Sue, good to hear that you're enjoying the videos! Hopefully you will have noticed that our audio has improved somewhat over the 2 years we have been vlogging. This video was in the more early days. It's been a very steep learning curve, and being only amateurs without expensive professional equipment it's the audio that is the hardest thing to manage, especially with the slightest bit of wind and engine noise. We have recently bought lapel microphones and trying to get to grips with using them, and have an external microphone with a wind muff for my phone, but when I am on and off the boat and around locks its hard to keep the microphone on and slip my phone into my pocket when I need to. There's no perfect solution really without investing in expensive equipment, that may soften the sound of my natural voice, but like I said, we are just amateurs using an iPhone to film our travels 😊

Belated happy birthday - nice to see another part of the system. We are under a Ice Storm warning - up to1/2 inch or more of ice. Still have power - hoping no generator will be needed today / tomorrow. Looking forward to warmer weather / maybe some fly fishing even soon. where's Pete's microphone?
We don’t have external mics, but we are looking at lapel mics as our next equipment purchase to improve our audio. This was a hard one to film and edit and get the sound levels right, as it was a windy day coupled with the engine noise, and trying to narrate as we went along. Thanks for watching 😊
