That's an exaggeration even if it is funny. Someone decided to perfect Chang's cloak fire technology, it has a bunch of cannons and torpedoes, but it's just got enough to fit on its wings, that battle wasn't long enough for the Scimitar's power to be of concern. Didn't use its fighters because it knows that they'd just get merked, I didn't actually find the sensors all that impressive. And Romulans are the superweapon guys. The cloak was a superweapon, the Plasma Torpedo was a superweapon. They use a black hole as a warp core. The only thing about it that's out of nowhere is the Thalaron weapon. If they'd just made it protomatter based that would be something that already existed and was known to be dangerous.
the one thing i like about nemesis is that its full of descent references (you know the 90s 6dof shooter). even the scimitar looks like an overgrown pyro gx. and that scene where they are flying the fighters through the ship.
great breakdown. though i have to say the music choice seemed off and Alister's narration could have been so much more powerful, this is a frightening mythical ship but the breakdown doesn't reflect that. and i say that as somone who has covered the Scimitar in Depth.
It did look cool but it was effectively just a rehash of the Enterprise vs Chang’s bird of Prey from Undiscovered country except the bad guy didn’t really need the cloak and could’ve fought without it and still kicked the Enterprise’s ass
@@TheDjbz It was much better than the fight in Undiscovered Country. In that battle the Enterprise was effectively just sitting there the whole time gradually getting its ass kicked until Spock suddenly spontaneously invented the cloakbuster torpedo. In this battle every starship and crew is an active participant.
@@DrakeAurum Not to mention when the Excelsior got there Captain Sulu literally said: "Alright now we've given her something else to shoot at." And then the Excelsior just stood there at let themselves get shot at.
DrakeAurum Well Undiscovered Country had model ships rather than CGI which is waaaay harder to make do cool stuff without literally breaking them. And I believe there was some legal issue with the phasers (for some reason). I maintain the UC battle is better because of the tension. It’s a “can Kirk & co find a way to hit Chang’s ship before they are destroyed?” While Nemesis was “Even if they can hit it it’s shields are just gonna let them pretty much ignore the shot” situation. The only reason Shinzon lost was because he decided to park his ass in front of the Enterprise with the cloak off so he could get rammed.
@@TheDjbz Wrong, Troi found them using her Telepathy to reverse the Mind Rape Shinzon's First Officer did to her and then Worf hit them with a spread of Quantum Torpedoes disabling their cloak.
Awesome video I learned alot about that ship I was always curious about. It was neat watching a shihp firing under cloak and no matter how many times it was hit they just couldn't make a dent. It's funny to see early days of big actors who knew the young picard clone would become venum in later years.
Imagine designing the greatest warship in history but leaving the power core completely unprotected from hand phasers...... 100x worse than the Death Star exhaust port flaw.
Not really; this is somewhat more believable as an engineering limitation. Might well be that the chamber walls are as close as any solid or energy barrier can physically get to the energy flow without disrupting it or reflecting thalarons at the crew or something.
Think about it tho, the Darth Star exhaust port was invariably opened as compared to the Thalaron reactor of the Scimitar. The exhaust port is protected by inordinate amounts of weaponry. On the other hand, the Thalaron reactor is only vulnerable when activated, and is thus only vulnerable when inside the ship. Not to mention the exorbitant amounts of weaponry on the Scimitar, the cloaking device, and the shields. So yeah
"It is the awesomest ship evar, and is able to be better than your stuff. Designed by your little brother, the Scimitar is just kewl and shoots a bazillion guns for hours."
A lot of people don't like it but I kinda love it. Hell some people it breaks cannon, it's too op etc but I don't think it is. It's not to unreasonable to imagine it's development. Side note: without plot contrivance I would still suggest a Borg cube ( maybe a tactical one) as still quite capable at taking it out.
I would've been fine with this ship if it was a lot less powerful then it was. Have the "shields up while cloaked" have a semi-exploitable flaw where it fails a little and _can_ be detected, and/or do NOT have its shields be nowhere near as strong as they were presented as (a fierce battle against a Sovereign Class and two Norexan Warbirds, shields still at 70% strength). Overall, just make it _feasible_ that this ship *can* be taken down and it's just not easy. With the approach they went with, the Scimitar is basically impossible to be beaten. A ship like this makes sense with something like the Borg, but this was developed by the Remans or even stolen from the Romulans, either case which should NOT be this overpowered based on what we've seen prieviously. (heck, the Remans being a dominated race used only as slaves would have nowhere near the capacity to develop something MILES BETTER then what their opressors could field, it doesn't make sense)
they got the length and width reversed. Which is odd considering they got the dimensions right on the scimitar vs Reaper video that came out 4 years before this one.
Warship Voyager: 30 Torpedo Tube's, 25 Phaser Banks, Biogenic Weapon Agents, small garrison of Borg including Seven Of Nine, full shield barrier, extra Ablative armored plating. Crewed by violent sociopaths. Lol Although a simulated type ship. I think Warship Voyager would give this one a damn good fight. Possibly inflicting actual battle damage to it. Being a much smaller craft, and very manouverable at sub light speeds, and nearly no blind spots.
Pity the Remans didn't spend another couple of days working on the design, I'm sure they could've figured out how to make it go warp 10 without turning the crew into catfish as well.
Can you image if picard and left his rifle on overload to blow up the reactor, and teleported away? Surely, the writers would never decide to have 2 main characters risk their lives on something so simple right?
Was really hoping Daniel was going to take this one but oh well can't have it all, just happy we finally got a breakdown for the Scimitar it's been one I've long hoped we'd get.
The irony doesn't stop with it being adopted by the Romulans - in the Hobus timeline depicted primarily in Star Trek Online, the Scimitar-class IRW Leahval serves as the personal flagship of Empress Sela.
You should do more Eve Online ships, there's so many to pick from. My favorite is the Jackdaw, but any one of them would be cool. I know you already did the Tempest, but a supercarrier like the Nyx or a titan like the Avatar are some of the most interesting ones to talk about.
How in the world was Shinzon able to build this right under the nose of the Romulans? That’s like someone on the FBI’s Most Wanted List building an aircraft carrier without the US Navy or Coast Guard noticing!
This is a really good analogy, Star Trek is supposed to be at least somewhat grounded in some kind of reality. The Enterprise (or Romulan Warbird or any of the top of the line ships of the big powers) represents the pinacle of technology of a vast interstellar organisation with huge scientific and industrial resources yet somehow the Remans just come up with a ship that superior in every way in secret with no one realising? Its like some backwater country suddenly coming up with a warship thats better than anything the USA, Russia or China has.
It has a small weakness in its cloak, it falters slightly when dropping to STL. It's not much of a weakness but could perhaps be exploited with some appropriate tactical bait and run warps.
I think I could settle for any ONE of the Scimitar's "cheat" mechanics to make it a sort of boss level adversary for a final battle, but adding all of them together just makes it insanely stupid. Perfect Cloak that you can shield and fire from... ok. That on its own is not so over-the-top, and it's also been done before. We saw this mechanic in Star Trek VI, so perfecting that technology isn't so far off the map. Primary AND secondary shielding. Ok. So this ship gets by on impenetrable defense. That is not an absurd tactic. If you can render your enemy's weapons inert, then you can essentially fire at them from any position with impunity. Again, alone it is not so over-the-top. 52 disruptor banks. Ok, so this gets by on overwhelming fire power. In gamer terminology we would call this winning trades. You take 3 phaser hits and in return you deal 52. Then it doesn't matter if your defenses match theirs, because there is no way you are going to incur less damage than you receive in any engagement. You might take a few hits to the hull, but they'll be a smoldering space wreck. BUT ADDING ALL OF THESE TOGETHER IS JUST INSANELY POOR WRITING. I don't mind gimmick ships, ships that excel at a single thing in order to best their opponents by always defining the engagement on their own terms, but this combination of characteristics just makes the ship stupidly over-powered and unbelievable. Add the Thelaron radiation super-weapon on top of that and its just retarded.
One theory I’ve seen which might go some way towards explaining this is that the Thalaron generators also served to provide the ship with power, at unprecedented levels
Spacedock 246K subscribers The Scimitar Class Reman Warbird is a great ship that's fast, maneuverable, powerful, and super tough for a colossal ship designed as a one manned Armada. I would really like to see this ship go toe to toe with an Imperial II class Star Destroyer. In my opinion, the Reman Warbird Scimitar has the huge advantage in this situation, because of it's advanced double shielding, highly adapted Cloaking Device, superior fire power, fighter complement, speed, and also awesome maneuverability.
People complain about the scimitar yet are happy with super star destroyers and death stars this shit is great and the battle is fantastic and tells the story or the vetran captain against a young captain with a much more powerful ship and was still beaten by been over confedent
if it has 5 times the firepower of a normal ship, than it would be a fight 5 normal ships against a borg cube. as long as you don't toss at least one deltaflyer in it, they would have no chance :-)
I imagine it was built to fight the Dominion and the Borg. The Thalaron weapon should disintegrate every drone on the ship, which as Picard showed in First Contact is an effective way of beating them. So Scimitar wins. And the Thalaron weapon apparently ignores shields, so no adapting to it.
Watching and hearing about this Scimitar somehow with a little modifications here and there and it could pass as a Sith Fighter instance of dreadnought.
I believe that the Scimitar was being developed by the Romulans, along with the Mogai class. I suspect it was developed to deal with the Dominion battleships that required multiple capital ships to take down. However, such a costly ship would demand too much resources to finish in time. I do believe that the Remans stole the unfinished prototype, perfected its technologies, and finished the Scimitar. But this is all speculation.
I would love to see a Romulan fleet with Scimitar, Mogai and D'deridex warbirbs going against a Klingon fleet of Negh'vahr and Vor'cha battlecruisers and Birds of Prey
Ah, now THERE is a ship worthy of the title of Dreadnought. Love the Scimitar. Even without its Death Beam radiation gun, its still one hell of a ship. Starfleet needs to step up its game.
@@dboymax1 given the species they keep encountering that either have similar ships or things even bigger or more powerful... might be a good idea to at least have a few. Lol.
Out of the TNG movies I liked Nemesis the most. I thought this ship was a bit OP, but at the time I hadn't watched DS9 to know about the Dominion War. I like how the creators of Picard forgot about all this lore.... Romulans can build all this stuff, but they couldn't evac their home planet.... and it's the Federation's fault....somehow.
Basic World building 101: The Scimitar was the FIRST ship that could fire from cloak AND have it's shields up while cloaked. This is how you world build folks. There was never a ship that could do these things through series and 9 other movies. If you always lazily write you don't build tension towards this event. 3Rayfire, yeah but it gets ridiculous when you have 4 superweapons on one ship, don’t forget it was made by an inferior rebel force.
the one thing i like about nemesis is that its full of descent references (you know the 90s 6dof shooter). even the scimitar looks like an overgrown pyro gx. and that scene where they are flying the fighters through the ship.
great breakdown. though i have to say the music choice seemed off and Alister's narration could have been so much more powerful, this is a frightening mythical ship but the breakdown doesn't reflect that. and i say that as somone who has covered the Scimitar in Depth.
"She's gotta' have a tail pipe." - Lieutenant Nyota Uhura.
EXACTLY! its still expelling exhaust as it moves! major oversight on the writer's part!
I don't care what you say the Battle of the Bazin Rift was a good spectacle even if the ship was so OP it broke cannon and logic.
It’s a “can Kirk & co find a way to hit Chang’s ship before they are destroyed?”
While Nemesis was “Even if they can hit it it’s shields are just gonna let them pretty much ignore the shot” situation.
To be fair they probably would think they were well protected from anyone not wanted being able to get on this ship with a phaser.
@@joebasketballhighlights Considering how easily Picard and Data ran around the ship on TWO occassions that would the second worse flaw on the ship...
@@joebasketballhighlights Same for Federation ships, but they still put a security controlled force field around the warp core.
So yeah
"Ironic" quote palpatine
The dimensions listed are incorrect to the image. The wingspan is clearly more than the hull length.

I think you should do a Video on the USS Pasteur that would be interesting to see
I'm about too DM for the first time this weekend. WorldAnvil will be awesome.
Sounds like it was decided to give it all the advantages of exisiting ships without their disadvantages.
Well, except for anti-plotarmor of course...
Step 1: Take Scimitar
Step 2: Load up on Cannons
Step 3: Cannon Scatter Volley 3 to victory.
I’ve actually been super interested in using world anvil for a while now
Despite what some people say, I love the ship! Next Vid Suggestion: Phalanx, the mobile fortress-monastery of the Imperial Fists
Yes, especially when the Ship's AI decide to work and activates the Causality Weapons
You like this lame hunk of plotarmor AND you're a 40K fan? Imagine my surprise!
@@lamalien2276 Cool story bro, nice gate keeping too.
@@lamalien2276 you dare to speak such heresy! (Calls the local Lord Inquisitor)
Ah yes, the Scimitar. For when you want to make the Prometheus-class look measured and reasonable by comparison.
they got the length and width reversed. Which is odd considering they got the dimensions right on the scimitar vs Reaper video that came out 4 years before this one.
Thanks for including that one
One word to this ship.
OP
"52 disruptor cannons, 27 photon torpedo launchers, front and aft shields."🛡
Worf.
I think you have switched the numbers there a bit. The width (Wingspan) should be higher than the length of the ship, unless it flies sideways...
Pity the Remans didn't spend another couple of days working on the design, I'm sure they could've figured out how to make it go warp 10 without turning the crew into catfish as well.
you got the dimensions for length and width switched.
Can you image if picard and left his rifle on overload to blow up the reactor, and teleported away?
Surely, the writers would never decide to have 2 main characters risk their lives on something so simple right?
The Enterprise's transporters only worked long enough to beam Picard over, hence Data having to go over with the portable device.
Really cool space warship ! I want one for Christmas !
Very well made.
Sovereign class:
Finally a worthy opponent our battle will be legendary!
the warbird would rape even the sovereign class. would take 2 or 3+ for a fight
At first I thought it was some sort of Kilrathi fighter craft==Daniel you really must revisit the Wing Commander and Freespace universes.
It's in online seen it a few times plus faced it in star trek bridge commander too .
My most used ship type in STO followed only by the fleet Shepard and fleet Mogai.
Finally getting the recognition it deserves
she’s a beautiful ship ain’t she?
Definitely!
@@peco0012 I liked the warbirds the Romulans had better.
LAM Alien, of course. Romulan ships are majestic.
There should be a showdown of the Mary Sue ships: Scimitar, Prometheus, Vengeance
"You know who I hate? Remans."
"Ew, they're the worst."
Yes!! Star trek Reman Scimitar!!
A beast in STO!
I love this ship do much I spent $30 to buy it in star trek online
Thanks for the content.
A Scimitar is a soaring soul, as free as a mountain warbird. :)

246K subscribers The Scimitar Class Reman Warbird is a great ship that's fast, maneuverable, powerful, and super tough for a colossal ship designed as a one manned Armada.
"She's a predator!"
Picard.
People complain about the scimitar yet are happy with super star destroyers and death stars this shit is great and the battle is fantastic and tells the story or the vetran captain against a young captain with a much more powerful ship and was still beaten by been over confedent
Heavily ARMOURED!!!!
How did I just instinctively know the quote was going to be "She's a predator"...
It's THE quote about the Scimitar.
I wonder how well it would do up against a Borg cube? That would be a dope battle! 😊👍
if it has 5 times the firepower of a normal ship, than it would be a fight 5 normal ships against a borg cube. as long as you don't toss at least one deltaflyer in it, they would have no chance :-)
Damn this was one fierce looking ship
It looks cool. That's the only good thing I have to say here.
This is why the Scimitar from Star Trek defeated Sovereign from Mass Effect from your first versus video long ago SD.
Can you do the scavenger ship from The Orville?
Don't forget it was build in a cave.
Apparently Remulans are an entire species of Tony Starks.
Star Trek Vi: cloaked bird of prey. Star Trek Generation: cloaked bird of prey. Star Trek Nemesis: cloaked warbird.
Great job! 👍
"Shes a Predator" with that amount of firepower onboard her shes a monster....no one expected the Remans to build such a bloodthirsty ship!
52 disruptor banks, 45 photon torpedo launchers ..... she’s a predator!
The talshiar are absolutely rubbish for not knowing this was under construction lol
I would love to see a Romulan fleet with Scimitar, Mogai and D'deridex warbirbs going against a Klingon fleet of Negh'vahr and Vor'cha battlecruisers and Birds of Prey
Favorite ship of star trek
Ah, now THERE is a ship worthy of the title of Dreadnought. Love the Scimitar. Even without its Death Beam radiation gun, its still one hell of a ship. Starfleet needs to step up its game.
Yes I want Starfleet make an OP Super Dreadnought ship for once that rivals or beats other dreadnought ships...
@@dboymax1 given the species they keep encountering that either have similar ships or things even bigger or more powerful... might be a good idea to at least have a few. Lol.

Could you do a episode on the USS Titan?its Rikers ship after nemisis
Thry needed fleets of these for the Borg and Dominion.
You got Width and length messed up :D
Ever thought about doing a ship breakdown of the EVE ONLINE ships? 🤔🙂
The thing's gotta have a tailpipe ...
I thought the romulan ships in nemesis were valdor class. Good vid
god the reactor on that thing must have enormous output to power shields weapons and cloaking field at the same time!
Ah yes, the Scimitar: the Michael Burnham of Trek ships.
GOLD!
Ha! Nice!
Language!
I mean the Klingons had a bloated ass military and they couldn't handle their Home world getting fucked up without Federation help.
Could you do a remake of the saber class escort?
I got CHILLS.
Please do a video on the Heracles Class Heavy Colonial Cruiser from the Sun & Sacrifice DLC of Battlestar Galactica Deadlock!!!
Basic World building 101: The Scimitar was the FIRST ship that could fire from cloak AND have it's shields up while cloaked. This is how you world build folks. There was never a ship that could do these things through series and 9 other movies. If you always lazily write you don't build tension towards this event. Real fans of the series knew how huge this was.
Someone explain how the length (front to back) is bigger/longer than width (wingtip to wingtip)?
These Romulans fought with honor.
For me Scimitar is easily the most beautiful ship in all Sci-fi. Close second would be the Conny variants and Andromeda. Third are Sphereships from Perry Rhodan.
Unless you aren’t counting the “wings,” I think you’ve got the length and width figures swapped.
