what Shogo did is like breaking a peace day during a world war. you never, ever crash a funeral. Especially one attended by your arch rivals.
if shogo had crash into my dead friends funeral oh i would stab him with his own sword close the coffin while the sword is still stuck in his middle torso and then bury him in own grave
That's kind of exactly what he did

This was not only one of the most brutal deaths not just in saints row but in video games in general. Whats scary is you don't even know how long he lasted in there. Saints Row 2 is still the best in the series. I am so disappointed with what they did in 3 and 4. It completely disrespected the gang warfare and seriousness of 1 and 2.
Ayy professional! Completely agree saints row 3 wasn’t as bad but 4 and gat out of hell ruined the very thing that the other games built itself upon. Damn shame
4th direction is just shite, considering that THQ wanted to make cashgrab out of that game before they go under. Funny thing is - they even didn't survived as a company and Volition got a new publisher for that game. Originally, SR4 (or Saints Row Part Four OR Saints Row 4 Prime) was about takin' down Johnny Gat's clone IN A NEW CITY with parkour-ish movement. Even if it wasn't gang warfare-is, it still would've been much better and even serious, although the premise is "le funi and crazy". Still, better than fighting aliens while being the president of the USA.
I think you can go 2 to 3 days like this before you run out of air and suffocate, which means this was a long, suffering death. Maybe he falls asleep at the end and dies in that, but still it’s a dark scary mess, especially if you start worrying and panicking about how much air you have left. It’s both physiologically am psychologically horrifying. This was about as dark as the franchise got, maybe tied with only 1-2 other moments.

Back when saints had some class and a storyline
They should make saints row 5 and make it like 1 and 2
Right
hell, if all they did was give Saintsrow1&2 updated graphics and dont touch anything else that'd be enough for me
i know right
they should make a game that ignores everything after the SR 2 DLC and call it Saints Row 3, have it be a conclusion to the series and a proper sequel to Saints Row 2 (also bring back the classic logo instead of that shitty generic current one), have it be about the Saints hunting down and finally killing Dex.
How the boss just stands in the back with his back to them and leaves Johnny to do whatever he wants
😂😂😂😂
He knows this is personal on a whole nother scale.
The Boss knew Johnny wanted to handle this personally and alone. He was there to make sure it stayed one-on-one.
I mean, it's the same reason why Boss *_brought_* Akuji to Johnny instead of finishing it himself like anyone else. *_He understands the closure isn't his._* Even in some insane twist where Johnny decides to spare Akuji, *_Johnny_* has to be the one to make that call.
@@Jamushu you know what? I never even thought of that the first time I saw this scene. I knew it was brutal, but I didn't even think about that extra layer until reading this comment, but yeah. The boss wanted Gat to finish it. That makes this scene that much scarier, because there's fuckin with Johnny Gat, and then there's fuckin with Johnny Gat when you take something (or someone) important from him.
Still sends chills down my spine. How do you go from this to the awful cringey garbage we have now? Are Volition really that out of touch? What a sad state.
They're just Volition in name these days, they cannot produce what they want now, just what they're told to do and so Saints Row changed from a series to rival GTA into whatever the Reboot will be.
@DrSnak3 The reason people are trashing the reboot is because of exactly what Nightblade said above, and the sentiment that Lock shared. We have plenty of information to "judge" the game on because Volition has a history of playing their hand early. People adored Saints Row when THIS was Saints Row. When it was a quirky but ultimately serious game about gang warfare, with real stakes and real consequences. The new game won't be that. Period. We already know this from both the trailer and from interviews.
The new people in charge of the franchise want the franchise to be "progressIve", AKA they want it to go woke. Not only is that just in general a bad idea because quirky progressive Zoomer characters are hated by the bulk and share of gamers, INCLUDING Zoomers, and also do not hold up well in any serious scenario that is supposed to be even remotely believable. Watch Dogs 2 and its sequel Legion committed the same sin, and the end result of it was both fell completely out of the public conscious even though Ubisoft tried VERY hard to keep them alive and relevant.
Not to mention the values of progressivism are ANTHEMA to Saints Row, which has always been a setting with an extremely crass, and offensive sense of humor. Shit, one of the last things Gat says before he gets killed at the beginning of 3, which as a game was already turning the meme-age up far higher than it had been previously, was "We traded our dicks for pussies." The game was full of light racism, sexism, basically any ism under the sun. Saints Row 3 let you make unisexual abominations that spoke in grunts for the sake of it being FUNNY. Imagine if that came out today, how many people in the games media scene and on Twitter would lose their fucking minds over it being "X-Phobic."
So we have a game that is by the admission of the developers trying to appeal more to an audience that not will engage with it or will react with hostility towards it due to the mentality of the previous games, while also throwing entirely out everything tonally that the established audience loved about the previous games, even the people who loved the meme-madness of 4 and Gat Out of Hell. Couple that with the fact that what gameplay we've actually seen is extremely average looking, and, well, what's there to be hopeful for?
There's always a chance that it could somehow be good in spite of all that, but there's no real reason to have any confidence, especially since the last offering Volition put forward, Agents of Mayhem, was an absolute and utter bomb. Considering most people don't look back that fondly on Gat out of Hell either and it didn't leave much of a lasting legacy (Even reviews at the TIME were largely just, it's okay but only because it's built on the back of an actually fun game), that would mean the last time Volition made a game that was largely agreed upon to be good was one year short of a decade ago.
It'd be nice to see them make good games again, but neutering the best thing they ever had going and functionally doing the opposite of what the fanbase has been asking for for years and years now, doesn't seem like a path that will lead to that end result.
@@Exotac well said. This is exactly exactly I'm not at all exited for a new saints row cos to me it's saints row in name only. I had fun qith saints row 3 and 4 but they weren't impactful and i can confidently say I won't play them again whereas 1 and 2 I really want to go back and replay. The tone of the first 2 is what's most important to me, I want to see acc gang warfare again, but the reboot has none of that so why the he'll would I be optimistic or excited. If a new generation falls in love with it then good for them but I won't be bothering until the series goes back to its roots and embraces what made it so popular in the first place. There's a reason 1 and 2 still hold up today and 3 and 4 less so and that's cos of the quality
@DrSnak3 oh yeah how's that reboot working out for ya now?
@DrSnak3 🤣🤣
that's the most scary and worst death ever :(
it's too good for Shogo
That's what he gets for being an total dick if he did not come to the funeral none of this would happen
But dont he got swords on him tho? He could just easily grab one and kill himself instantly
I'm disagreeing you there he honestly fucking deserved it against a funeral procession as Gat wanted peace but Shogo refused so this death is the most subtle and perfect for redemption for his bodyguard to order to execute aisha it's simply just good to fuck him up under the earths crust

not really. gats a badass and all but more badass than the boss? idk man that kinda rubs me the wrong way. after everything we, as the player did, the best we get is playing second fiddle to gat. i mean i love him as im sure all of us do but it was a bit ridiculous to suggest he was more badass than the dude who got took over a gang and the city with it, got blown up, came back, formed another gang, took over the city AGAIN, and did the same thing in steelport WITHOUT gats help. idk man, seems like some bullshit to me
Irony is that this is a very dark moment , but at the same time very memorable. So memorable , i think of this moment every time i talk with anyone about this game. Hell of a way to finish the chase. Fuck this, I have a rocket launcher.
I'm surprised he didn't take it out sooner, blew Shogo sky high right there
One of the best end mission cutscenes in the game. This is a savage beating coming from a guy with nothing left to lose. Aisha was everything to Gat.
Gat is already a trigger-happy killer when he's chill. As if Aisha's death wasn't already horrible enough for Johnny, Shogo screwed up even further by crashing her funeral. He didn't realize he was dealing with an unstoppable force of nature until it was too late for him.

You’ll only last hours.
lol no, If you're buried alive and breathing normally, you're likely to die from suffocation. A person can live on the air in a coffin for a little over five hours, tops. If you start hyperventilating, panicked that you've been buried alive, the oxygen will likely run out sooner
Texas Funeral is a pure Psychological kill. The victim will torture themselves by thinking before they die.

Although Saint's Row is largely known now for being over the top and silly, 2 struck the perfect balance, it had ridiculous and crazy shit but it also knew when to get serious. Saints Row 2: "Hey, That's cute!"
Actually Saints Row 2 had Tera Patrick part of Their DLCS
He kept his promise he didn’t kill him then and there….
Even though the funeral is ruse to get the ronin to start attacking. Shogo just couldn't resist having zero qualms of crashing someones mourning.

Nope, that's just him giving Gat his time with that *******
Came here after that awful new sr trailer
Being that so claustrophobic that I can't even be put in a chokehold without tapping out of a fight and being that being buried alive is easily one of my worst fears this scene is just hard to watch even if shogo deserved to die I don't wish this even on him honestly.
This is only the one time, ONE TIME Gat was showing mercy and Shogo threw it all away. Had he heeded Gat's warning, he would've died a quick death.
When I first played SR2 and this mission came up, it reminded me of the penultimate mission of GTA 4 when Jimmy Pegorino disrupted the wedding with a drive-by in an attempt to kill Niko, but ended hitting Kate instead, he died in a gruesome way of getting shot at multiple times, with the final shot being in his forehead.
This just shows that disrupting activities that are sacred. Comes with dire consequences
So basically, Shogo dug his own grave 🪦🪦🪦.
Johnny Gat is forreal one of the coolest most badass video game characters ever created
If this was Yakuza both Gat and Shogo would throw their shirts off and went hand to hand before Shogo deciding that the only way to honor his father is by seppuku, saying that he never had to lose a pinky for his failure as a son
