In a different universe Saints Row 3 is chasing Dex into a new city. Where you finnaly get to cap the traitor in a great ending to a trilogy. Unfortunately we are in the bad timeline.
I truly agree with the others saying that Dex should have returned after the events of 2 in the third; If the idea of Johnny getting killed would still retain, it would be from the hands of Dex. If not killed, then heavily wounded. I could also see Troy returning for this one, possibly helping them one last time, as if keeping the boss on life support after the events of Part 1 wasn't the last. Also, the hint of Johnny being a disdain to Dex would have been an awesome potential for a heated rivalry. Sad how it seemed that the only heat between them was the hell they were in, where he was underwhelmingly killed. Others, do educate me if this suggestions lacks or makes no sense. I'm still getting to know this series.
The reasoning behind keeping Dex out of SR3 onwards was to not “alienate the people who haven’t already played the DLC or SR2” I guess that’s why SR3 barely mentioned events from previous games aside from a few lines of dialogue here and there.
1:52 Johnny Gat: Don’t worry Dex, I have something more subtle in mind. Dex: Johnny, you can’t be serious! Johnny Gat: FUCK YEAH I am! Dex: Where did you get those?! O.0 Never have I seen a video game character more pleasantly surprised and horrified at the same time! X3
Imagine if when the saints got busted at the beginning of SR3 it was Dex instead of the syndicate. Bailing them with the money he has from Ultor. We could still have the Johnny "dying" say he goes into a frenzy seeing Dex again attacking him, paying off to their constant bitterness in SR2
true, I feel the story could have still been the same with Dex as a side antagonist, and maybe while the player was rising up the ranks, Dex was too, and at the end, he would get Stag to assist in taking down the Saints, and get the player to kill Killbane (as he wouldn't be corporate enough for white collar Dex), the game could end with a choice, kill Dex after all this time OR save Shaundi, your love for your gang, or revenge
if only they gave us an ending to this, all the fans who didn't like the change in direction could have considered the dex story line the cannon ended, such a wasted opportunity
I have never played the first and the second games, but I think Dex might be my favorite character. Not so much in the second game. The "smart gangster" writing is on point, the "strategic businessman" no so much. But it makes sense. The player has to win.
I would've loved to see him stay with the Saints, seeing him and Pierce together would've been awesome since they both have a mind for tactics, and I didn't even find him betraying them to make sense in the first place, his story with the Carnales was all about him gaining more and more courage to fight for the Saints, turning his back on them doesn't make any sense.
Miss SR 1 & 2 story line it was ridiculous with a serious layer on it, but the media and public kept comparing them to gta it feels practically 2 separate universe after SR2
Even though he’s not present in SR4, there is a bit of dialogue in the Boss’s virtual world where 50s Shaundi mentions Dex visiting your house, but she didn’t know him so she sent him away, which causes the Boss to stop eating pancakes.
For some reason saints row 1 and 2 are the only games I can play over and over and not get tired of. Its so immersive that it always fun. Saints Row 1 and its shitty tagging system and tiring respect system? No thanks. Good characters though Saints Row 2 is good though. Might be 2nd best in the series with 3 being better 3 is where they honed their craft and got rid of the respect system, which makes sense storywise, they also vastly improved Saints Row 2's new characters and made them at their best 4 you can't put on the saints devs and more of THQ for forcing them to make a dlc into a whole game, which is ironic, but it was a fun experience and if it wasn't a saints row game, probably would've been a niche game that would never get a sequel and would sell fine, but it has the 2nd best activites in the franchise, with SR2 having the best activities, SR4 made the insurance fruad activity fun, which it should be celebrated for 5, I still have to play myself and plan to, I don't want to hate a game because it's popular to, I want to be more independently minded than that And Agents of Mayham and Gat out of Hell, I haven't played and don't really want to
My theory: After the Saints fell apart and Julius betrayal, Ultor was formed eventually and brought in Troy and Dex to their team. I believe they tried to grab Gat too but he refused to join them else he won't get to blow things up and Ultor want these powerhouses(eventually lapdogs) to succeed. Which leads to Gat commiting crimes to show Ultor that he's loyal to the streets. The proof that Ultor need those men: Dex got a huge pay while Troy gets promoted and highly praised for involving in high risk tasks. Gat might have been their top assassin if he joined :o
Ya know what would have been great? If nothing else, Dex could have been a liutenant or something for the Syndicate. Maybe he gives Phillipe Loren the idea to expand his Syndicate to Stilwater, after the Boss takes over Ultor (As stated in Sr3's 2nd Mission). And the Saints could have dealt with Dex in Steelport. In a different universe Saints Row 3 is chasing Dex into a new city. Where you finnaly get to cap the traitor in a great ending to a trilogy. Unfortunately we are in the bad timeline.
Nah, your idea is also one of the bad timeline, the good one is the one where Dead Shot was fully released
His VA in SR 1 was superb! Sounds so natural.
Yeah he couldn’t return for SR2 because they couldn’t contact him. He’s voiced by Pierce’s VA in SR2 but he returned for Gat Out of Hell.
Fun Fact: In Saints Row 1 Playa will only speak in every final Gang Storyline Cutscene

The reasoning behind keeping Dex out of SR3 onwards was to not “alienate the people who haven’t already played the DLC or SR2”
I guess that’s why SR3 barely mentioned events from previous games aside from a few lines of dialogue here and there.
@@saint- Revelations exist for Non DLC Players. You Don’t Have to Play The DLC.
@@chibi_jojo9000 Exactly. They apparently couldn’t understand that.

Johnny Gat: Don’t worry Dex, I have something more subtle in mind.
Dex: Johnny, you can’t be serious!
Johnny Gat: FUCK YEAH I am!
Dex: Where did you get those?! O.0
Never have I seen a video game character more pleasantly surprised and horrified at the same time! X3
SR3 should have been chasing dex down to the new city he was in. That gat out of hell ending to him was 🤮
I 100% agree
Imagine if when the saints got busted at the beginning of SR3 it was Dex instead of the syndicate. Bailing them with the money he has from Ultor. We could still have the Johnny "dying" say he goes into a frenzy seeing Dex again attacking him, paying off to their constant bitterness in SR2
They could've did alot with SR3. Could've did better. Take out the goofy weapons and shit and make it a straight up criminal game.
true, I feel the story could have still been the same with Dex as a side antagonist, and maybe while the player was rising up the ranks, Dex was too, and at the end, he would get Stag to assist in taking down the Saints, and get the player to kill Killbane (as he wouldn't be corporate enough for white collar Dex), the game could end with a choice, kill Dex after all this time OR save Shaundi, your love for your gang, or revenge
This is a good watch bruh, lemme see more like this 🙏🏻🔥
Glad you like it:)
if only they gave us an ending to this, all the fans who didn't like the change in direction could have considered the dex story line the cannon ended, such a wasted opportunity
Imagine somehow the city Dex ran to is the same city in the reboot
Poor guy, I wouldn’t even wish this on my worse enemies... Actually I would.
Nah he’d move out of Santo Ileso on Day 1
I have never played the first and the second games, but I think Dex might be my favorite character.
Not so much in the second game.
The "smart gangster" writing is on point, the "strategic businessman" no so much.
But it makes sense. The player has to win.
it did suck the last time you even seen him as a person was in Saints Row 2. he was written pretty well and then boom they stopped using him
Man Jonny was a real one
All Volition had to do was put Dex in the SR Reboot.... Hope Eli at least turns into Dex to make the story a bit more interesting.
Lmao the "ultor could go to Mars for all I care" is cute reference to red faction guerilla. Hint - ultor, do in fact, end up going to mars
0:01 so this is what anderson did before he joined the alliance
9:17 my man smokin on this victor pack lol
Dex in a word, is what regret was in SR. I really wanted to show him how betrayal feels
Loved this video.. the nostalgia.. then the bosses voice in sr2 hit me like a truck cus it didnt fit LMAO
I forgot how cheap the SR2 DLC felt. Just two guys standing in a place, staring at each other, and talking
1:30 Johnny: "I'm yellow enough as it is Dex" as an asian my self that shit right there got me laughing hard 😂
Miss SR 1 & 2 story line it was ridiculous with a serious layer on it, but the media and public kept comparing them to gta it feels practically 2 separate universe after SR2
They feel like a cross between the older 3D GTA games and the HD universe. Not to realistic but not over the top stupid like 3 onwards.
@@mitchjames9350 Agreed
Even though he’s not present in SR4, there is a bit of dialogue in the Boss’s virtual world where 50s Shaundi mentions Dex visiting your house, but she didn’t know him so she sent him away, which causes the Boss to stop eating pancakes.
Wait our 50s wife was shaundi???
Wait wat
@@spleens4200Yes, The 1950s wife is Shaundi
Dex should of been part of stag in sr3 wearing a mask then revealing himself at the end

Dex ditched the Saints and sided with Ultor. I guess he pulled a Midnight Runner.
For some reason saints row 1 and 2 are the only games I can play over and over and not get tired of. Its so immersive that it always fun. I must have beaten each game 15 times and its sad that at least in my eyes the series died after the 2nd. Saints row 5 is a disgrace and I hope volition goes bankrupt for even making it.
Same for me, i’ve played both countless times at this point and it’s still just as fun.
Don’t really care much about the Reboot though. Just seems like another generic game with Saints Row tacked on just for the hell of it.
@@saint- The reboot looks meh IMO. It took out the aliens, superhero shit, etc. But they brought back the 3rd's futuristic EDM-style shit and didn't bring back the gangster thug style. IDK though it might be a fun game it looks fun
Don’t you think hoping a company go bankrupt and hundreds losing work over a game is a little dramatic?
Saints Row 1 and its shitty tagging system and tiring respect system? No thanks. Good characters though
Saints Row 2 is good though. Might be 2nd best in the series with 3 being better
3 is where they honed their craft and got rid of the respect system, which makes sense storywise, they also vastly improved Saints Row 2's new characters and made them at their best
4 you can't put on the saints devs and more of THQ for forcing them to make a dlc into a whole game, which is ironic, but it was a fun experience and if it wasn't a saints row game, probably would've been a niche game that would never get a sequel and would sell fine, but it has the 2nd best activites in the franchise, with SR2 having the best activities, SR4 made the insurance fruad activity fun, which it should be celebrated for
5, I still have to play myself and plan to, I don't want to hate a game because it's popular to, I want to be more independently minded than that
And Agents of Mayham and Gat out of Hell, I haven't played and don't really want to
@@BILLYBOBBYLADS welcome to gaming
It would have tied up SR2's corporate warfare story perfectly. I mean, the Boss did say he'd find Dex in whatever city he went to.
good idea. ive always seen dex as this kind of guy who would be perfect to be a lieutenant, bot not charismatic enough to be a leader of his own gang.
So that what happened to Dex. Wish they would have explained how he got there
I guess he was killed along with everyone else in SR4.
@@saint- I always figure since it’s been years since SR2 that the Boss would eventually track down Dex and kill him. That just me guessing 🤷♂️

You what the irony is...Gat called Dex a sellout for getting work for Ultor, and yet the Saints went to become even bigger corporate sellouts.
Overall I like Dex. He is one of my favourite Saints Row characters. Shame what they did to him.

Dex could have been such an antagonist, shame...
Dex was my favorite in the first saints row. Shame how Volition violated his character
Best quote of Dex "its carnales not The los carnales" "you put me in charge of los carnales, shit now you got my saying that"
I know fanfic gets a bad rap but I'm actually trying to plan out a fanfic that is functionally Saints Row 3 if it was about the Boss going after Dex instead of...what actually happened. It picks up 1 year after SR2, with Eric Gryphon showing up and letting the Boss know they have a lead on where Dex went. We're probably not gonna get this as an actual game ever so fanfiction is the only way.
Where can I find it?
Imma need it, no capital.
@@sapphyre_star2159 It's been 2 years and 10 months but I'm finally getting back to Saints Row/SR2 now so I'll probably start honest work on it now/soon. Surprised to come back here and see people actually had interest in it.
It's just Carnales, Los means... fuck it
Dex always knew Troy was a UC but didn't say anything
28:21 why am i just now realizing saints row and Red Faction are canon with each other
Am I the only one whose confused as to why Dex betrayed the Boss? I mean they really had no beef, if the Julius mission was pre SR2 ending then Dex is just springing the trap early to no benefit. If it's post ending then I think it'll just be better to hand Julius to the Boss in exchange for a truce. I think Dex is smart enough not to piss off the Boss.
He did it just to tie up loose ends (Julius & Playa)
@@saint- I found it odd that Johnny wasn't included in "Revelation". I guess maybe since it can be played at anytime which means even when Gat is hospitalized. Still, it felt like he wasn't as much of a concern for Julius or Dex.
Wow, so many signs Dex was gonna betray you in the first game.
Where? There was obvious signs troy was a cop, and Julius. But dex? Not one sign pointed to betrayal.
Yeah honestly thought Dex went clean after part 1 didn't even know it was a DLC for SR2 that had Dex in it
Dex was the one who had you kill Chief Monroe, but if you really think about it, he was already working with Ultor. Also he knew about the bomb on the boat, also how did Julius get the bomb in the first place?

9:17 the way that dex looks at Troy is hilarious
Troy betrays the saints in the end and in the second one he looks like a old man I call that karma
LEAVE FOR WHAT YOU HEAR. GET DEAR FRIEND, MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY. START WITH YOURSELF, YOU END WITH YOURSELF.
Dex is my favorite from the first game, I hate that they made him such a scumbag in the second and stuff I wish he had stayed friends with the boss like Gat. It makes sense that he’s an opportunist since he’s shown to be the smartest one but even then it kind of feels like a 180 on his character. He also looks terrible in the second game he aged like 30 years😂
This franchises fall off is insane. Went from probably the best gang-life based RPG around to a complete sideshow parody of GTA. SR3 was fun to play when it released (I was 14) but looking back now, it's clear to see they totally jumped the shark with the game and completely ruined the tonal atmosphere. Maybe they felt like they had to abandon this style but to me it just completely killed the franchise.
“How much murderin do i get to do?”
“None”
“Your plan blows” 😂
Hopefully when we're in Heaven, we'll get the satisfaction of killing Dexter "Dex"Jackson in a completed Saints Row 2 Corporate Warfare DLC Remastered that Volition clowns never gave us.
I'm not even mad at julius or troy. Troy was willing to let them go if they drop their flags and julius had a reason for blowing the player up seeing as how immediately after he wakes up he massacres and island worth of police but i will never forgive dex.
16:14 “bullshit that’s last year’s fall collection”
This is a cool video about dex
Had a good thing going with this series where did it all go wrong
The devs were so butthurt over the GTA Comparisons, they self sabotaged their own series. Volition clearly didn’t want to continue but the money was too good to pass up on i guess.
Now they slap the SR name onto any half baked idea and pass it off as “Saints Row”
