@@jayhart2203 thanks so much for your feedback. No worries at all. We are working on some content to answer your question, but I could also shoot a very quick and simple video to help you out tomorrow. What DAW are you working with? - Julian
@@jayhart2203 that all makes sense. If you're working in Pro Tools, it's actually super easy because as soon as you insert the native Sphere plug-in on the stereo track, this track is converted to mono and behaves the same as any other mono recording. In all other DAWs, you'd need to bounce to a mono track. What DAW are you working in? - Julian
Will this work as intended with the Rme ucx II or the apogee symphony desktop? I’m using a Mac m1. With the above mentioned interfaces and the Mac M1 Will I be able to achieve low latency still without an Apollo? Thank You!
@@Townsendlabs Only Questions I have are if I wanted to buy a spare Mic Cable where Can I get that from as I want to keep a spare one just in case. And also If i want to purchase different modelling packs (as I do recollect there are add on's) where can I look at buying those. Cheers
@@xceed09 in terms of additional mic models / expansion packs look for the Ocean Way and Putnam Microphone Collections for the Universal Audio's UAD-2 platform. We haven't done any additional mic models for native yet. You can contact us directly via our website for a spare mic cable or help how to make your own. - Julian
Just bought one. It would be incredible if I was able to sample my own mic collection using the sphere. I’d love to duplicate and multiply my Calrec, Neumann U77 and Gefell UM70 and MV691 hyper, Omni and Cardioid mics before they are gone forever. They sound so fantastic and being a drummer I need lots of mics.
Questions, so I buy the virtual plug in through UAD website and then mic separately? When connecting to my Apollo console, can I use the existing XLR cables I have or do I have to use the ones provided by Townsend with the mic? Thank you
When you buy the mic, the plug-in is included at no additional charge. Once you register the mic, you'll get a voucher code for a zero dollar purchase through the UAD store from us. The native installer is always available at no cost (or copy protection) from our website. So you could record with the mic and send the raw files to a mixing engineer who could just install the native plug-in on their system. The cable is pretty standard, but it's a 5-pin XLR to 2x 3-pin XLRs. If the one shipping with the mic is not long enough, you can extend using standard mic cables. Does that answer all your questions? - Julian
In the U.S. the mic goes for $1499. Find a dealer here: townsendlabs.com/buy/ However, we're unfortunately a bit back-ordered at the moment, but we're working super hard to get more mics out the door. - Julian
It depends. If you want the full set of features and the ability to change the mic model after tracking, you always have to record two channels. However, using a UA Apollo or Arrow, you can also commit to your settings on the way into your DAW and only record a mono channel. - Julian
I tested it, and the are correct: the system is great, the software is really easy to use and the modeling is really awesome. Here is an undependant great test: www.sweetwater.com/insync/virtual-mic-shootout-sound-samples/
Here’s our very first “Inside Sphere” video. Let us know what topics you’d like to learn about in future episode. We’re listening...
