I really needed this video today, why are we so afraid of being ourselves? I really feel Instagram/the need to be seen online pushes you into a submissive corner. Slowly learning not to be afraid of individuality 🙌
Fuck the consumer, they don't know what they want unless its more of what theyve already got. Knowbody wants fresh new amazing things until they happen. Knowbody asked for Banksy or the beatles till they happened. I think a huge part of art in general to break some rules.
I’m currently in this trap - my instagram is tailored to my typical customer - Pinterest style walk in, fineline nonsense. Some of it I’m proud of, but most of it is just advertisement to pay the bills. It’s the chicken and the egg - I advertise a style that sells but not that I wanna do. Don’t want to risk advertising the stuff I want to do because I want to make money.
Just got it keep pushing, its 100% a time thing, like I said i am lucky, so i can get away with it easier. The way i get more of what i want in is and has always been flash, just sticking out as many designs as i can possibly draw. At least if it’s stuff I like I dont mind drawing it in my spare time. Keep pushing man, eventually you’ll be doing all the stuff you want to do
Really cool video, I get stuck on these things too. Everytime i want to post I look at my shitty page and think "I want to post this, but is going to bring me down because of the "reach" that Instagram allowes me to have? Or is it going to be good and let people see what i worked so many hours for. In the end of the day is the Instagram algorithm that is making everyone be the same, and if you're not following the "rules" you don't get seen. So yea.. it's good to know that I'm not the only one feeling like this.Fu.ck their algorithm, it is you that need to be happy with what you achieved and if this is the future where we're put down because we don't follow the "rules" then fuck the rules. Graffiti artists go to jail because they do what they love. Keep up the amazing work!
When i was in your position I would alternate days, a drawing or sketch of what i wanted to do/tattoo I enjoyed, followed by something I did well but wasn’t the design I would’ve picked. Alternate the days and spread the good stuff out. It’s all work at the ends of the days, you gotta follow he rules for a bit just to get ahead of that algorithm, then rinse it
Estou passando por isso nesse momento, seu vídeo caiu na hora certa, aqui no Brasil a mesma merda está acontecendo com músicas da moda e toda essa estética de sempre! Obrigado pela mensagem, sempre coerente.
You are right, I'm in this weird place where I do my stuff how I want, I don't think about trend and likes, but I'm only 110 followers and I'm stuck, so yeah I want to continue posting while being myself but also want to grow a bit, It's hard
I think when you’re first starting out, it’s a harder decision to make, because you really want to get your work out there any way possible. Maybe whilst you’re building that following just give in a little, you can still maintain your style whilst adapting to fit some of the less invasive trends in guess.
Seen your shout out on killer ink! does this mean a killer ink tutorial is on the horizon! 😆 🙏 🤲 ❤ ps i get like 7 likes and a friend I know gets thousands and he can't even draw so likes doesn't mean anything to me.

We’re afraid of being ourselves because being ourselves doesnt pay the bills! But push for long enough and being yourself will pay off for sure
