Hi..I have worked in tech before but I don't want to get into coding or become a software engineer. I worked for Microsoft as a Product Advisor. Currently I am working on getting my certificate in Project Management. I am mostly interested in Cloud etc.. I would like to become an IT project manager or Producr Manager. Coding ain't really my thing. Do you help people land other job in tech not related to coding or engineering?
Honest Update for 2022: you’re better off tweeting and being a relentless self-promoter on linkedin than emailing now. Your cold emails are being ignored bc ppl are on slack, and that’s only if your emails aren’t in the spam folder.
Definitely late to the party, but that information was so helpful. Not only for coding jobs , but for any job, actual life in general. Thank you so much for reminding how being unique can take you a long way when paired with hard work and determination!
Hey! I just saw this pop up after another video I was watching. At first your eyebrows kept distracting me but then I started listening to you, and wow, you are right on the money. I recruited for many tech companies, before I switched careers, you what you are saying is exactly how things move within the company hiring process. Now, I'm considering getting back into tech via a coding bootcamp. Thank you for making this video. It is very helpful. 👍🏽
Thank you so much for this motivation. I come from a huge family with me being the first to receive my degree. And now with your encouragement and awesome information I’ll definitely be going to put it to use and with the bootcamp because I have also started career karma. Thank you🎉
Another great video from one of the founders of CK! I just started and love the program. These tips will help me when I get through my bootcamp and am looking for my first position!
I’m late seeing this video but it’s very helpful. I’ve recently decided to start a career in coding and wanted to know more on how quickly I can get a job straight of boot camp. Definitely taking notes.
Follow your dreams and ignore anyone who tries to talk you away from it. Haters gonna hate. They can only see things through their own eyes and experience.
Rather than send emails, I'd suggest knocking on doors. No degree, no coding skills, have earned 6 fig in tech (walked away from burnout). I got all of my jobs by knowing people, being there, fixing a problem. Help desk is the gateway to any job you want in tech.
"The best pilots fly more than the others; that's why they're the best." - Chuck Yeager, died yesterday at 97, the first human to travel so fast that it broke the sound barrier
Thank you so much. Despite the fact that finding a job is pretty hard, these insights makes it much more easier to gauge through landing a job. Great video. Also looking forward to gain more knowledge on how to send effective email to hiring managers
A bachelor's degree should be one year not 4. It should be focused on just your classes that are related to your exact field not a bunch of bullshit you don't need or will never use. That's the problem as college has become a money maker.. And they're focused on putting money into the college to the college and not trying to get students through school they're school. That's why I love (full sail university) Because it's pretty much of one year school
They should really tell kids in middle School and high school about the networking thing. They should also give them more options as to what jobs they can do with what degrees.... And most certainly offer these bootcamps about SE, UI/UX, etc... One more thing and I'm off my soapbox: I believe they should teach kids mindfulness at school, starting on kindergarten... Nothing religious brought into it.... Just basing on the science we have that shows meditation/mindfulness leads to happier, healthier lives. My 2¢. Great video, Reuben. Thank you
Great video for anyone who is stuck in their job search and is wondering why. If you are not getting results; then you need to change your tactics. Don't give up. Become a Ninja. I'm looking forward to the 5 cold emails a day strategy booklet. I will use them. So send them over. Lord knows I will need it. You are a great communicator Ruben. This is a tuff subject and you video was positive, motivating, and uplifting. You have a gift.
Why is this Video so awesome! All the content on the Career Karma App is so easy to follow/understand and now I just discovered your UA-cam Channel!!! 👍🏻 👏🏻
I already have a Just Over Broke (J.O.B.) and student loans and like your advice. I"m just beginning my journey with Career Karma so I hope you can still provide me with those resources to learn how to network better. All the best, Joe
It's not just Bootcamp grads not finding jobs.....it's everyone like me using resumes, cover letters, applying online, emails galore from hiring recruiters/headhunters.....and nothing
You are so right. I have over 20 years in IT, an MBA in technology management, and Bachelor’s degree in computer programming. Finished Summa Cum Laude. Spent over 6 months on LinkedIn making tons of connections which went nowhere. Sending 10 plus emails to individuals for months of which I got two responses. The two responses were telling me “I’m sorry I don’t have anything available, but keep your head up”. I even decided to get another masters degree to leave IT and after 3 years of pursuing that with a 3.98 GPA, I ran out of financial aid. I had 4 classes left. It’s nearly impossible to do anything else when I’ve done IT since I was 18, and now I’m 44. I was the CTO. I also have an inventory management software I own which I’ve sold some licensing. Unfortunately I have been trying to gain contracts, and no luck.
The fallacy is in believing that only those without college degrees are considering coding bootcamps. Some people are changing careers and taking on coding bootcamps to break into technical fields.
Never really approached it from that angle! I’m recent bootcamp grad coming from a BDR position, so cold calling/emailing are in my neck of the woods. I need to sell myself & what I bring to the table!
Again great tips but again missing out the point on how??? I’ve listened to these tips elsewhere and still the question is how or examples on where, like finding companies, how to search mid-size companies when most of them are not easy to find
These are all stories. Shortcut to happiness, how to be successful, how to become CEO, how to be successful. The truth is only if the world had such well defined rules. It doesn't. What worked for his brother may not necessarily work for others. And luck do play a significant part, believe it or not
you sound like you're lazy and don't want to do the extras to get you a career. no one's gonna go to work for you, right? it's good to always better yourself. and if you have to adjust, then so be it.
Ruben thank you for the encouragement. Always on point about the topics for non-traditional cs degree folks. Can't wait for more content. what website do you recommend to filter specific mid-size companies ?? thanks once again
Hi Reuben, thank you so much for this video! It was so informative and helpful :) I would love to receive your guide to cold-emails that you mentioned at the end of the video!
So I just watched you video and I love the way you explain things it makes sense... But like they say "Common sense is not that common" lolol j/k nah it's like when you are in the situation at hand it kinda hard to see it from an outsiders point of view.. so yeah good information thanks 🙏
Great video brother. Looking to start a bootcamp soon and feel that there's a lot of questions unanswered. You have helped clarify some of the doubt. Please keep the videos coming!

As an introvert- Yep. 😢
