    1.) bootcamp is tough
    2.) don’t try to work part time if you are doing a full time bootcamp, it is hard
    3.) study time is important, work outside of class
    4.) classmates are going to drop out
    5.) constantly going to feel like you don’t know what is going on
    6.) you might feel depressed
    7.) talk with TAs and instructors
    8.) don’t be afraid to ask questions
    9.) prepare yourself, try your best

    I think it's important to realize there is an adaptation phase whenever we train our brains to think a different way when learning new concepts. Persistence is probably more important than IQ in most situations.

      @@jesusdiaz2299 lol that's actually describing me, I got high scores in IQ tests, both online and in person, but get annoyed and give up easily if my code run encounters an error.

      @christophersakwa1625 3 роки тому +15

      @@dimaisatree I spent too much time prior to the bootcamp on html and css, I'd advise anyone to spend most of his/her time instead on learning JS. I did a bit of JS before the bootcamp but not as much as I'd have wanted to.
      Bootcamp was good in that it helped me get started and stay on course, before that I'd start tutorials and hardly finish anything. It also helped me connect the dots on web development. I'm I satisfied with what I learned? Significantly yes, but not 100%. We learned some things that are hardly in use anymore, like Handlebars for front end.
      Think of a bootcamp as drinking from a fire hose; you can quench your thirst but you'll also get messy in the process.
      My advise? Take a part time Bootcamp but study as if it's full time. That way, you get to retain a lot of content and have more time to practice with the weekly homework and daily class activities.

      @@SimplyJustSmile Congratulations!!! Yes, it was harder than I thought (no past coding experience whatsoever). So, I would say limit ALL your distractions, try to make friends in your cohort as well as ask for help when needed from TAs. Also, get a tutor if one is available to you. I didn't make too many friends from my cohort (unusually snooty) lol but reaching out helps a lot. Also, don't quit! That sounds funny now, but you might get to that point because it does become stressful. Just like the video, a good amount of people never came back, even after the deadline so they could get their money back lol. But, you will do great! A bootcamp will keep you on your toes. Watching this video felt overwhelming because I'm having a lot of what ifs. At the same time I want to do this, having a career change is scary and taking that leap of faith is scary. I know that it will be worth it at the end.

      I totally understand where you’re coming from. It’s hard to take a risk, especially in yourself. But if there’s one thing that I believe wholeheartedly, it’s that the time to take risks is while you’re young. I only wish I made the decision to look into software bootcamps while I was in high school!
      If you’re interested in coding, I’d definitely say go for it. I didn’t get into software because I “love” coding. The tech industry serves as a vehicle for me to chase my own dreams. Having a high salary and a remote job completely changes the game.
