Are Starches Bad for People Living with Diabetes | Mastering Diabetes | Dr. Ronal Weiss

  • "Should I avoid starchy foods?" That might be the wrong question to ask. Because whether it's type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes you've been living with, eating starchy foods is not the root cause of diabetes. Understandably, you might be concerned with some plant-based foods that are also high glycemic index foods because they tend to spike your blood sugar. With that in mind, you would want to avoid potatoes (red, white, hot), watermelon, pineapple, and the rest of high GI foods. So now, looking for the worst fruits and worst vegetables for diabetics is definitely one way to start when creating meal plans
In general, starchy foods are a good source of energy and nutrients. They contain fiber, calcium, iron, and B vitamins. And to worry about some people talking about starchy foods being fattening delights is not necessary. The truth is, gram for gram starch contain fewer than half the calories of fat.
Speaking of fat, vegan-friendly plant-based doctor Ron Weiss encourages people with diabetes to eat the right starchy foods to manage the condition. Most importantly, removing from your plate the saturated fat coming from animals would be the best thing to do. Because that is the root of the problem.
Check out the conversation for the rest of the nitty-gritty.

Wow....that is one hell of a story!!!!! I've been a type II diabetic for decades, it took a few years on a plant based diet to get my sugars to be completely normal. That guy did in a week what it took me a good 4 years to do.

If this is so, why then the blood sugar is always high after a high carb meal. Somebody to explain please. We are as patents feel lost as we have to contradicting thoughts; high carb plant based or low carb high fats and moderate protein.

My understanding for the mastering diabetes protocol is to have a whole plant based diet, let me please know if it is otherwise.

I love all the information. A but more for kidney disease, but with a reversal focus. I can’t stand the medical community always talking about halting it or slowing it down. Yet there’s countless people who have cured it. Plus autoimmune disorders like Ankylosing Spondylitis. Yes, plant based… but the confusion of potassium, phosphorus, protein. I’ve heard that there should be little to no worry as long as you’re consuming plant based.

Cut totally the fat intake. No abocados, no nuts, no oils whatsoever. If you want omega 3 eat chia and flax seeds.

Ummm. Wow. That patient story was incredible! I’ve heard lots of these stories but not that much turnaround in seven days. I’m assuming he told the guy to not eat any more meat or dairy or oil but that didn’t come up in the video. I’m still at a loss how to eat 16 ounces of greens raw because it’s hard to find a good dressing for those.

    • @thorn324
      @thorn324 Рік тому

Do you think Adam & Eve used a dressing? Did Daniel eat his vegetables with a dressing? You do NOT NEED a dressing, especially since dressings almost always are sources of fat. Eat the greens plain. If you do, you'll find that they have a subtle sweetness to them that used to be masked by dressing. Do not complicate matters.

    • @returntoyehovahthelord6185

@@thorn324 - Go ahead if that’s what you like. Every plant based doctor and chef that I’ve seen over the past few years use some kind of dressing. It usually involves fruit juice, vinegar, mustard or hummus. There are some raw food only folks but not the majority.
As far as the biblical people you mentioned, we have no idea what they ate or how they prepared them. Yes. Adam and Eve most likely ate totally raw. Once they were kicked out of the garden, they had to raise crops and started eating meat most likely.
Remember Cain and Abel? Abel brought an offering to God that was from his flock. Cain brought fruit and vegetables (but not the best he had) and his offering was rejected.
By then, men were eating clean animals for food.
As far as Daniel, we know he ate pulses in Babylon because he refused to eat the king’s normal food. That most likely involved unclean animals (Leviticus 11) or food sacrificed to idols. Daniel followed God’s Law very carefully.

I find it hard to believe someone of the same ethnicity as me, weighs 120+ more ponds than I do would decrease their blood sugars so rapidly.
I never had excessive thirst or urination issues and my a1c was at the highest 13.7.
I have engaged in hiking, running, cycling and weight work variously as an adult.
I am now 50+ 5'9 178 lbs. I can get down and do 30 proper push-ups at any given time.
I have known of my T2D since early 2021.
In the past I was a massive animal product consumer, I could eat an entire pack of bacon, six eggs with no problem.I will admit that my eating habits although not horrible but were instead excessive in calories (and animal products)
I am now a vegan and have been one for almost 5 months.Although I am on low fat diet I have only measured my sugar under 100 once (93) and that wad after a grueling 30 miles bicycle ride.
    Wtf gives?
