- If you're planning on storing your BunduTop tent off your vehicle, we recommend storing it flat, but if you need to store it on its side, make sure to place foam or something similar on the standing edge to avoid damaging the flare where the top and bottom meet.
You can even wrap it in a blanket or tarp to keep it from getting scratched while it's in storage. It's really important to note that the roof of your BunduTop is made of raw aluminum and can only bear a maximum weight of 50 pounds. So, if you're storing it flat, be careful not to put any heavy items on top of it.
Some of our customers have a cool hoist system to remove the tent from the roof of their vehicle and store it on the ceiling rafters when it's not in use.
If you plan to leave your tent on your vehicle all year long, there are some storage tips you should keep in mind. In extremely cold climates, condensation is unavoidable to some extent. To reduce it, put a layer under the mattress. You can use buffalo grass, astro turf upside down, or carpet to provide airflow under the mattress. If you use carpet, make sure to wrap it up along the sides where the mattress touches the frame. Anywhere the material touches aluminum can lead to condensation when the temperature changes from outside to inside.
And don't forget to occasionally open the tent on a nice day to check the mattress and let it air out. You can lift the mattress when open to help get air underneath it, but leaving it open will work just as well.
