Not gonna lie, i loved the GoPro's video quality but I had to give it up because of the overheating and crashes. Bought an Osmo Action 3 and have never been happier. It's so nice when something just works!
Same here I never own a gopro wanted it so much throughout the years but never had the chance yet when I see a lot of issue not worth it with it's price. I do however have DJI drones and they were reliable and it just works. Now after years of wanting a gopro I decided with action 3 and am happy with it.
@@EXIGENCES Its not that the GoPro is bad, but it does freeze up occasionally and can't record long without overheating. My use case the Action 3 being reliable for work is well worth it, even though I think the GoPro footage looked better.
@@tjthedogtrainer Yeah with the gopro you wouldn't want to have a good shot and the gopro hang during that shot. Reliability is key and Action 3 is what I need. But you are right GoPro image are way sharper and fine it is amazing hope Dji can come up with something similar via a software update.

With 4k/120 , 4k HDR, 10-bit enabled by default, Quick charge on the battery, and water resistance up to 16m (tested at 5m myself). DJI won this matchup when i was deciding between the two. I think the Hero11 is a fantastic piece, however multiple friends with the battery issue was a deciding factor as well.
Yeah, makes good sense. The quick charging function is a big deal to me too.
I recently bought an Action 3 and was blown away by the charging speed.
Dji for me as I already own a dji drone, plus the price but obviously they are both outstanding 👏

I have a gopro 7 so looking to upgrade, I also have the DJI pocket 2 and that is amazing, I do vlogs with that one. Might wait to see what the GP 12 has to offer but that is later this year. but for these two I would probably get the DJI action 3. I am doing a lot of traveling in July and thinking of just taking my small cameras (vs my big Sony cameras and Lenses) I also have a insta360 x3 I will take too.

Being so close to Septwmber now, just 3 months away, I am waiting for the next DJI Action Cam release. Currently got the Hero 11 but it frustrates me such as switching itself off when I stop recording. The app and menu seem better for the DJI, lets hope they drop a good Osmo Action 4 in the near future and I will switch.
I also hope to see Action 4 and Hero 12. Would be fun!

There is an options in settings, by default it is set to turn off after not shooting after 3 minutes.
DJI clearly has the better microphone the GoPro sounds like it's significantly lower bitrate
Yeah, I was also pleasantly surprised. But the GoPro has very nice compression
I just bought the dji osmo action 3 in march of 2024! It's a great camera and still a way better value in my opinion then the newest action cameras
True story
Motorcycle videos my Hero 7 often shuts down because of the heat. Does the Osmo Action 3 have that problem?
With the 256GB sd card can it record 2.7K x 60fps for 6 hours?
It need to be at a place where it cools down. OA3 is more tolerant about heat.

I usually keep it off in order to gain so e battery advantage. But that's a other strong reason to like the GoPro

Many of them are. Not these made for GoPro only, such as the media mod

How can go pro hero 11 last 64 minutes when within 20 minutes odd it says it is switching off due to over heat?
Please can anyone clarify?
I have never had mine overheating and I always max out the settings for quality. Try another SD card

Are we suppose to extreme pro variant of sd card with go pro 11? Or extremes is sufficient?
I can't use dji as no app on. Google play and download link won't work on my phone haven't use go pro 11 yet

About the horizon leveling - Action 3 can in fact do a 360 spin without anyone noticing (HorizonSteady), if you just have even the slightest sense in how to use it 🤷🏻♂
You have to set it to 2.7k. It doesn't work in 4k.
@@rcc9677 Correct. In the video it was mentioned that OA3 can't do it at all, instead of maybe mentioning that it can't do it in 4k. I just wanted to elaborate 😁

Doesn't the gopro record at 5.3K video at 60 fps/10 Bit color? Why were all your comparisons based lowering the gopro to 4K?
Because having the same resolution will better show side-by-side their performance. I think we can all agree that GoPro is superior when it comes to supported video resolutions.
Can we remove the selfie stick in the video on the post editing like insta 360 does with dji action 3?

dji care refresh for 1 year and only one change camera... You didn't check the warranty policy and prices at all before the renegade and the changes came a month ago!!

i hope you understand that stabilization doesnt work well with slow shutter speeds like 1/48
I've just brought the djiA3 and at night time with rock steady on it doesn't cope well and upon moving the camera to the side it blurs a lot,.. take rocksteady off tho and it's normal

Problem with DJI is that it does not preserve details. Look at brick roof. On GoPro you can see the tiles on DJI you cannot.

In night osmo action 3 is not perfectly , this is also the problem that dji should solve because at night osmo action 3 is bad compared to gopro 11
It depends on the scene very often, but I overall tend to agree with you.
the clouds on the dji at 9:25 is completely overblown, just a white background. i'm not sure even if it can be saved in post. the gopro has much better dynamic range and sharpness. while i agree the dji has much better usability and i'll even say dji have better color management, but ultimately image quality is why i use action camera, otherwise, my phone would be the best usability camera, and color can be adjusted in post, so gopro wins here.
in fact, i'll go even as far to say i prefer the original dji osmo action over the 3. my original dji action is still working like a beast. i had to return my dji action 3 three times due to focus/dynamic range issues and i come to learn that this is a hardware issue rather than a software. The update just added artificial sharpening to images that anyone can do in post. at this point, i would highly recommend just waiting for the dji action 4, which should come out soon. its unfortunate because i love dji drones.
What are you talking about? Any of the newer generation iPhones has better image quality than either of these cameras.

Action cameras are meant to be used in more extreme and unusual conditions. The iPhones definitely lack the same grade of stabilization
@@TechMishka I think they make good vlogging cameras. They're super wide, good stabilization, screen on both sides. Until they finally add a small screen to the back of an iPhone, the action cameras will continue to have that advantage.
In low light it looks the DJI jitters.
It does. But stabilization seems to be a little more capable
I love my Action 3. Thinking of buying a GoPro but will probably wait for the hero 12 to come out.

Gopro - the best quality video footage by far. But never know if it will do what I tell it (very unreliable)
DJI - reliable and easy to use software. Video quality not quite as good… but … who the hell really analysis it anyway?

is the DJI still out of focus?
Yeah, I got model from 1/2023 and was out of focus but there is video on UA-cam that have to twist lens counter clockwise about 10 degree and focus issue it's gone,
I got a batch from February and I don't notice any issues with the focus.
I believe most 2023 batches are fine
Dji is waaaayy better, so much more reliable and near same general quality.

I think that both cameras have their strengths
I've been watching tons of videos on this topic and you seem to be the first at 6:45 to note the wider FOV. It's actually very unsettling to see them compared. Had I just seen the Action 3 maybe I would not have noticed. But when compared, the GoPro is much more natural to my eye. I wonder why that's not mentioned more often.
I think I remember Potatojet showing something about the FOV too. I also like slightly narrower FOV.
