    The SW TP body is fully Hagane metal, from body and spool, the only part that is CI4+ is the knob handle

    I have them both VR150 and TP10000, bot are excellent. I trust my VS underwater but not my Shimano. The TP10000 is full aluminum chassis.

    • @Bassman743HD

      Wrong, TP chassis is hybrid. Half aluminum and side cap is plastic!

    • @Bigfish1day
      @Bigfish1day 3 місяці тому

      @@Bassman743HD Wow, that’s exactly what I said, I don’t think I mentioned anything about the rest of the reel. There are a lot of parts that are not aluminum but the frame, again is aluminum. The chassis is for strength and the other parts that are not aluminum keeps the whole reel light weight in a sense. Do you actually own one? I have 3 of them.

      I am in between these 2 reels, which is better from your perspective? There is a deal for VR 150 for about 280€ and TP is around 340-390€ depending on the size. I wanna use it with 30-100g SGS6 rod and want to fight some fish between 5-30kg range. At that price range there is also Authority and Tesoro too.

      @ Depends on what I’m doing. VR150 for surf fishing, snapper and light bottom fishing, TP10000 for grouper, tuna and amberjack fishing. If I only can have one, the TP 10000, it can handle a wider range of fishing based on the rod you use.

    Different applications honestly. Van Staal is what I went if I’m rock hopping and dunking my reel regularly. The Twin Power is light years smoother and more fun to fish so if I’m on a boat im choosing that reel over VS 100 times out of 100.

      What would you do if you were in a kayak 90% of the time? I’m contemplating van staal. I just dunked my stradic 5k. Actually nah it flew into the saltwater and sat there for a minute. 😂

    • @benjamingrabscheid5438
      @benjamingrabscheid5438 Місяць тому

      @@AttackYakChaos i think the smaller van staals are well suited on a kayak. I have a boat and a yak (I’m blessed) and my VR50 comes on every yak trip. For the reason you mentioned, frequent splashing and occasional dunk, they make sense for your application.
      Personally, I don’t love the larger van staals on a kayak due to their weight and bulk. Those reels are great when you can really lay into a big cast with a surf pole from the beach, but I find them cumbersome otherwise.
      VR50 - 75 or X2 50 would be an excellent yak reel if funds allow.

    I've had a few van staals, every one had a jerky drag. They're good for montauk skishers. Very specialized. I'll take a saltiga or saragosa. Twin powers are great too. The made in china thing bothers me with van staal now. Wouldn't buy from our enemy.

  • @donndavis142

    A bearing on my Van Staal spool went. I had a big fish full drag, just about. Strong lines main line and leader. Took it came some, did that. Van Staal said they had trouble with the VR 50 doing that. They sent me a new one for free. I like the reel. But Im getting a Visser. The newest model.

    Van Staal is honestly a cool looking reel and yes the best sealed reel. But that Chinese made stamp and price mark up doesn’t make any sense to me. Such a huge let down. Don’t even try to tell me they’re paying anywhere close to 6-$800 for them reels to be made. And I get it, it’s geared to different anglers who are “IN” the surf. But 98% of the time it’s Brand loyalists that will pay literally anything. Even if it’s made in Chinatown. Nothing beats the smoothness of a premium Japanese reel and the fact people try to tell themselves that van staal is the best out there is hilarious. And 90 percent of you are not diving in the dam water with this shit to even need one so stop. You all buy it because you think it’s an item you can flex or something like a badge of honor. 😂😂😂.
