Just scooped up a Vr75 wind of last season. I’m happy with the reel super light, compact, holds more than enough braid, smooth quiet drag. So far it’s handled striped bass up into the teens 12-15lbs class with some smaller speckled trout and southern flounder just fine. Looking forward to the spring run in the northeast to start and really test it out.
great vid, I am looking at the van stall vr 75 , after watching your video it seems like a great investment as I only live 3 miles from the ocean and surf fish quite often. thanks for the info in the video, great job.
Thanks james unless you are an avid surf fisherman than sure it definitely makes sense. Definitely think about your target species in your area as the 75 maybe too large or possibly a vr50 makes sense.
Have you had any line coning issues with the 75? When I spooled mine up it seems to lay more on the bottom of the spool and taper off towards the front. Thanks
Thanks for the comment. I have not any issues with line lay. May I ask what type of line you maybe using I have been successful with power pro super slick 8 20lb.
From my knowledge with stradics and vanfords, they give you the little disc thing to put on the little pole where the spool sits. That basically lets it level out the line a lot more evenly when you spool
Naww my friend I love it. A bit of a learning curve.. you would be surprised on what that “0.1oz”feels like honestly it maybe a little bit more. All in all from what I’ve learned from last year was just fatigue and weight. Mark was on to something when he brought it to you that day.
Mike, how can you fit a VR75 on a trifecta lite? My reel seat does not fully screw in like yours does with a VR75? I can only fit a few millimeters on each end.
I did have to clearance a small amount my self to accommodate the wider footprint on the reel seat. When switching back to the Vr50 does not affect the fitment as well. Depends on the particular lures I want to throw that I will switch back and forth..Hopefully that helps.
@@mikestacklebox Thanks for reply. I don’t understand what you mean by clearance. Did you widen/modify the handle to make room? Or modify reel handle? … thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide!

That is great to hear Karl. Appreciate the update here on the West Coast it’s literally six months of hunting.
What size does it compare to? Is it like a 4000? or larger than 4000?
Awesome vid Mike. Still getting them perch in the cold weather. The nice thing about that is your are the only one on the beach!
Exactly my friend thank you for tuning in I appreciate it. Funny thing towards then end was super low tide as well. Let’s get after it this year!!!!!
What were you using? Paddle tail swimbait on a jig head?
Standard crappie slider with no jig head. Size #4 bait holder hook.

@@pasolesoup7430 yes 👍

Mike which trifecta do you ha e the 903 or 904???
I have the 1003 brotha at some point will buy 9003. Just a side note I have paired this combo with a vr50 permanently.
10' MTF rod 1/3 to 2oz is my guess for your next setup 😉 😀
I do have 2 ounce set ups however I’d like to keep it under 1 ounce it’s a very narrow window but I have some time
@@mikestacklebox maybe future setup will be 9' Century demon rod rated 1/8 to 1.75oz it should cover that narrow range. 😍
@@jaychino1621 thank is a nice one too Brotha
Happy New Year Mike!!!
Thanks my brotha Happy New year
$519! It’s like buying a reel for bluefin fishing! I guess I can save $50/check and get one in 5 months 😂👍
@@arnoldelan2443 overrated for perch for sure. It does the job for our particular Stripers.
that setup throws weightless grubs in the surf?
I have a 1oz torpedo weight 3 ft 15lb Fluro leader size 4 standard baitholder hook with no jig head.
@@mikestacklebox ah i see now, ill have to give this a shot, i do a sabiki style with multiple drops with flies and a krockodile spoon as the weight
VR50 and the VR75 has the same body just different spools.
Naw Brian v50 is much smaller think of it as a 3000 and the vr75 a 4000 but not as heavy as other brands like a slammer or BG etc.

@@TheUnlistedOne your correct I took my dremel and made small adjustments to the forward most reel seat.
@@mikestacklebox thanks mike!
