What we take for granted. What we see everyday. These people have never seen before..... I now take pictures and i see the world in a different light. Yeah, my grandfather didn’t figure out he was colorblind until he was in his early 20s, after my grandmother told him that his socks were NOT the same, they were completely different colors and made him go to the doctor. BAM, colorblind. They do see colors, but they either look dull or are a different color entirely. It depends on the type. To my grandfather, the color green looks like a shade of brown or yellow. I've seen many of these videos, and I believe them. It's strange, though, that people can see and name colors that apparently they have never seen before-- not sure how that works.
I believe it's because they appear as darker and lighter shades, for example, when opening a crayon box for the first time we familiarize ourselves by reading what that color is. For example, my orange crayon is labeled orange, therefore my brain registers that color as "orange" and labels it. I believe it works the same way for people who are color blind, only as a either a darker and lighter shade. For example, the color purple would obviously have a darker shade compared to the color orange. There are also people who are only partially color blind, meaning that they can see certain colors like green and red, but are unable to see colors like purple, pink, etc. they are probably able to register that, that color is purple because they've probably known their whole life that they were unable to see the color purple.
Rhia Legaspi I am colorblind and that is exactly how it works. It seems a lot of people think that I just see grey but that's not the case. It's interesting to me that people are surprised when they take so much time looking at trees and grass. When you try to realize how much detail that they are seeing for the first time, the *variations* in the greens, it's just as dramatic as a solid color.
What I love most about these videos is that some people immediately start crying as soon as they see color and others are so shocked, mouth agape, that they can't even process it.
I'm curious to know how people can name colors they've never seen. Are there different degrees of color blindness? Do things appear in varying shades of grey?
Joseph Ues, there are different degrees of it like some people see purple similar to blue but most see thing in different shades of brown so they probably new it was red but red for them is just some kind of deep brown...that's why there's people who don't even know they have some type of colorblindness, they know the different colors but not as we see them
+Francisca Belén he know its red but he see brown. do you even know what you are saying? they act as if they have never seen color and even then tehy act as if they know what each color is and so on, it got to be a shame kind a why its called TRY NOT TO CRY CHALLENGE #1 unless you are a troll xD
Francisca Belén thank you for explaining that. It must be overwhelming to see colors for the first time. It's incredible to see their reactions. I wish those glasses were a little more affordable so that everyone could experience it.
i have a good friend who is colorblind but can see blue, especially if its vibrant but he mainly sees greys blacks and sometimes brown, but dark brown is black to him
Joseph Theis I'm severely red green colour blind, I can see every colour of what I know of anyways. Pretty much it all depends on lighting, angle and distance. It can be very confusing at times as well because I have looked at colours before and it was green as grass, turn around and then back again and it was red. Thought I was on drugs. We don't all just see in black and grey lol
it's always so cool how impressed they are with purple

Bless u for taking time to help someone and ty
Try not to Cry? I was trying not to cry Laughing at 2:23 when he said did someone painting a house orange 🤣
Purple and orange seem to be the colors that flip people out the most... I love their reactions to purple.
