and the good part is, science will only get better, so the implants will become even better and closer to the human ear. Right now, they are just basic devices and aren't even close, like comparing the model T car, and hopefully will evolve into a Porsche racer.
Yes. I cannot imagine what it would be like to hear a powerful piece such as Bach Brandenburg #3 or Wagner Entry of the Gods Into Valhalla. That would be epic to see how they react. Good call, I never even considered that they have never heard those things before. Hell, they would be happy just hearing Lil Wayne...
Unfortunately, the Cochlear Implant is very crude. It does not convey music well. It's sort of like expecting an Atari to run an HD game like Grand Theft Auto.
eddie cabanas sane here man... I was just feeling sorry for myself because of something so petty and I see this ... and suddenly all the things are ok. How can they not be?
That must be really sad, but at least you heard. I always wonder about the people who could never hear, some die without ever hearing a thing in their lives. And then some of them get to hear, at young age, which is ok. But when you listen at the age of 40, 50 or 60, That is really sad because they feel that life has been unfair to them. At least that is what I think, for example the last girl (the most popular), that crying I think it is because all those years life has been unfair to her. At least my opinion.
She WILL be able to speak quite well, as she has speech therapy! Remember, this is all new to her -- she is in her 30s or 40s and has done the best she could all those years, and now she will be able to re-learn all the wonderful skills she wasn't able to before! Be positive and understand this technological miracle!
I had hearing problems growing up as a child. I wonder if these people will correct their speech from being able to hear. Its so fascinating. Its so wonderful.
There was a deaf girl from Switzerland who got a cochlear implant. She had a lot of speech therapy and also therapy to learn to distinguish different sounds, because she heard stuff but didn't know what it was. People said they couldn't hear that she had been deaf. Sometimes when she wanted to study she just took the cochlear implant out so she could focus better.
The rehabilitation process takes into account those people who have speech problems and there is speech therapy included in the process for those that need it. But like the hearing rehabilitation the time varies from one individual to another.
You know what? The world needs more of these videos right now. When everyone is charging headlong into a technological wasteland we need these to remember that we are still human. Thanks so much.
This makes me realise how much i take for granted.. it makes me so sad and so grateful! I am so glad these people have been given the chance to hear those things around them

I hope you get the same thing as the people in this video. You'll have a blast by listening to music.

"Does it sound normal? What does it sound like?" Odd questions to throw at someone who has never heard sound before.
I was thinking the exact same thing haha
