I once heard that Mark Breland, himself an excellent fighter and coach said that Thomas Hearns had the best feints in boxing.
Hearns was rarely if ever outboxed and a huge reason why was his great jab so its no surprise he further capitalized on this by possessing such a great jab feint.
Something i noticed was his varying of the speed of the jab feint which prevented his opponents from getting their timing down. He also flared his elbow out at times when feinting which was surprising but it worked for him.
Not sure if it is a coincidence but is very similar to Hearns with some of the jab feint movements and Fury spent time at Kronk in his earlier career - Hearns of course was the main man at Kronk and possibly the reason the gym first became so famous in the 1980's, training under Manny Steward.

Old Thomas used to Do the circle and jab combo in his early days before switching trainers that made him into a power house. He still does it sometimes but imagine if he didn’t switch trainers mans be the welter/middle weight Ali

That habit comes from his low flicker jab from the hip. You lead with the elbow and unwind your arm like you’re throwing rope. It makes it faster but more Telegraphed - matter less when the hands low because it’s out of sight.

Fayz can you do a breakdown on Harold Johnson or Jimmy Carter? Also where would rank Hearns in the fantastic 4?

@@antoniomosley9410 I would say definitely not just like Joe Louis.
Louis would never have purposely compromised his balance and punching posture as willingly and frequently, or led with as often and especially such a wide left hook as Carter.
Their footwork, rhythm, how they pace themselves, punch selection, and even some ways in how they each cut off the ring are very different.
That hook reminds me me much more of Jersey Joe Walcott and his head movement, rhythm, and Footwork actually remind of a much more aggressive Ezzard Charles that we only hear and read rumors about but never got to see on tape.
