while I won't complain about 'free'.. to your point about quality, I wonder if there's some incentives about a developer pricing their asset higher if its going to be shared for free, or what kind of deal there is on the back end and what kind of incentives it creates for the different parties involved. :-) nice overview! thanks!
I do not believe so. As an asset creator, you can mark which assets you want to be candidates for the program. So if you have an asset you have a very high price on, or low quality, or for other reasons are not selling - there is really no downside for you. Then the asset creator get a compensation that used to be 7500 dollars on the old epic marketplace, but on FAB is only UP TO 5000 dollars and that sum is determined by factors like "how complex is the asset" "how many different platforms is it usable on" and things like that. So since the compensation was lowered, and possibly drastically so if you had an asset for only UE and not Unity and blender, that is not complex or moderately complex - then you have two choices. 1: If the asset is making sales by itself, then you probably don't want to have it as a candidate. Why give it for free if you make more by selling it. 2: The asset is not selling at all, so either get some money instead of none.
Disappointing collection but they're also free so I'll try not to sound ungrateful. Thanks for making these videos because I'll never remember to check Fab otherwise. Have a great New Years. It's 4am New Years Day on east coast Australia and here I am catching your upload the earliest I think I ever have lol.
The most important thing about all assets is the fact that you can look into the blueprints and general setup so you get an impression of how others solve certain problems in UE. WIth that you can either recreate the mechanic and call it your own or even improve upon it. Maybe you download the assets now but start working with them in 3 years, you never know if you can use something or not, now or in the future.
i don't want to seem ungrateful to epic, but it seems like the quality has dropped considerably since Fab became a thing... not just in the giveaways, but overall.
@Uncle_Fred even my own personal library is a pain to navigate now. They have so many odd filtering options, I have to select 3 or 4 different things just to get all my characters to pop up... it's ridiculous
I think the problem might be consisting of many factors. They released a road map over their development for FAB, so we know what is coming in a general order. But FAB feeling like a step backwards from what we had is of course not a nice sensation. Also, like you say, the management of existing assets is not great. A lot of work need to be done there for it to be usuable for people. Also, I think they might have a smaller and lower quality selection of assets that have opted in for the limited time free rotation. Many compounding issues.
i suppose its not terrible this time around, but the original prices for these is outrageous, even if you divide by 10 id still struggle to justify buying those
Can anyone tell me how to open full island in my project like i imported it into my project but i wasn't to open island fully it's giving me part by part
We don't get 3 instead of 5, we get 6 instead of 5 since they decreased the amount of assets but more than doubled the cadence of the rotations. So we get more assets now than before technically.
What's horrible, and I'm not saying any of these are of that type, is Epic picks out products that might be expensive in general but turns out they were just asset flips / youtube tutorial copies released by someone. Horrible reviews which you can't read anymore now, but also Epic is paying these people for their copied work.
The lack of reviews is a problem of course. It makes it less transparent of possible issues. But the review system is not great to begin with, there were quite a few people on the old marketplace that wouldn't give you support on the asset unless you first wrote a good review to get access to the Discord. So the old systems needed improvement as well.
@@LeafBranchGames The reviews being used for just Discord access was horrible. Like all that was posted with their discord username on a 5 star review. I feel like Epic didn't wanna deal with that on FAB. But the questions area was also so helpful... I'm often looking at assets and wondering things that aren't clarified at all in the details. lol.

Well, better than last time. At least there's usable stuff.
Glad to hear you might get use of the assets! :)
Obligatory thank you!
My pleasure!
Well, I like the comic cutscene.
Good to hear, I hope it proves useful to you! :)
Yeah, it's something that I have on the backburner. But it's something that's worth keeping around, imo

I haven't purchased a single asset since they changed the store. It's so much of a pain to navigate the site I don't even bother looking anymore.

FAB is worse than Unreal Marketplace LOL

@@CCGS that's because they put Unity into FAB. It's the reason why we got more FREE low poly instead of PBR, unlike unreal marketplace.

I do think they have been priced very highly as well.
I think it only makes sense these days to either get them free or via Humble Bundle.
Hey bro can you please create a tutorial about UAV drone system with night vision
So the night vision part or the drone part?
@LeafBranchGames both of them please, i mean a UAV drone attack system with night vision camera
@@medoxcharm4561 I cna put it on my to do list.

Create an empty 5.4 project and import the asset into there, that should work as shown in the video.
Wonder why with Fab were getting getting only 3 instead of 5 assets 🤔
who knows next year they will give 1 each month then no more free stuff

@@LeafBranchGames So it's now a new rotation every 2 weeks? Neat.
@@BR1.618 Yes, ever since the move was made to FAB, it has been every two weeks instead.

@@LeafBranchGames they said it would come back, but you guys can use orbital market at least to read the old reviews.
@DarkDreamStudios Interesting that you would say that, since there is a video about it coming out today. :)
This assets Free in next year January
It is free until the next rotation starts.
