It is a tool that can be used for good and bad. The user/developer has to use their discernment and judgement to filter and improve what the AI has done. People make bad games with or without AI. As far as the market being diluted....it already is....by AAA developers. The games of the future will all be developed through prompting. Everyone will be able to play the games that they've always dreamed of. The industry is already failing, it will die and change to a custom streaming type service. Watch

One thing that changes when everyone can make their own video game is that it becomes less and less likely for there to be extremely popular games. not impossible, mind you but take the music industry. As soon as everyone had the ability to get their music online the music industry changed a lot. There are still popular artists, but there will never be another Elvis, another Beatles, etc. Instead we are moving towards more specific genres and everyone can find their niche they enjoy and listen to that. Same with games. there will be more and more specific niche styled games. And less huge game companies spending years and millions on a single game.

I got some questions about Ludus AI
    - is it 100% free or is there a paid version ?
    - is it allowed to make commercial games with it ?
    - are there any restrictions what kind of content is not permitted to make with it (like adult stuff, gore, violece, religion, crude humor, etc.) ?
    - if someone would make a whole game with it, is there a risk that plattforms like Steam would not allow it ?
I personally think the mediocre generated 3d models are great for dystopian sci-fi games, rusty cars or cranky buildings don't need to be perfect.

visuals is not the issue and will be barebone at best, where destructible environments, good reactive fighting animations to physics are way more important. The immersion aspect is lacking big time in UE.
Are there any good physics fighting animation models made which reacts and feels good? Like taking hits to hitting things in their surroundings that reacts realistically? Hitting stones to wood where it reacts accordingly, and stopping animations if you're to close to walls and obstacles?
If these things doesn't get implemented sooner or later, it is just a glorified flat photo imho.
We had more physics in games 15+ years ago than we have now, and it is actually a downgrade the way it is going.

Spent years learning and attempting to develop or find work in the industry but constantly hitting the wall with no success. This levels the playing field. Now to figure out how to use this in the most effective way. Maybe you can put something out on how to leverage the technology while it’s being developed. I notice a lot of comments sound a little anxious about how it will impact developers. Oh it’s real😂 if you’re not an engineer what job will be left if AI does all the work

It could also go directly to documentation without having to search through things. That alone was so worth it and it is only the tip of the iceberg as to what these systems will be able to do over the next couple of years. I'd like to see the UE developers get a little more going with this rather that these outside developers.

I think VRAM usage is a definite consideration. Most environment artists will reuse materials across multiple assets, e.g. create multiple statues but baked with the same textures and shared normal map etc. but I assume with this AI model generation 1 model = 1 material, unless you want to then export it, UV it, etc. But as standard use, your texture usage is going to grow pretty quickly if over-using this feature.

Awesome, Devs can spend more time filling each world with life and quests so it's not a 30hr game with 20hours spent walking to make u feel like it's a decent sized story, or walking slow to see the sites would be incredible, has anyone seen Harry potter legacy in vr, no one realised just how insanely detailed the game was on flat screen but the Devs went crazy with events nd details in the world and castle which we can now appreciate in vr.
Also low detail models are fine depending on the game, two uses come to mind. In God games or strategy games u rarely get close enough to things to care about the details, also in some rpgs there's the area u can move in but sometimes over baracades and off of cliffs u can see areas that u don't travel to, this would be great for filling them up with neat things to see

AI really will have a massive impact on how we all work with computers in general. It will take emphasizes away from the programming itself and will place more emphasis on data training. The best companies won't be the ones with the best developers, but the ones who know how to collect and build the best datasets to make their AI the best. Developers will be dataset builders and optimizers. That can also spark the need for lower level engineers to fix problems the AI makes but can't see, like a modern low level programmer can find security vulnerabilities in the firmware of a router because of a compiler mistake.

I’ve got some concerns with AI tools like these, especially when it comes to transparency around training data.
You mentioned that the training data sorcing transparency is getting worked on, but I haven’t seen much information about it. Maybe I’m just not deep enough in the AI space to catch those updates, though. If there’s anything solid out there, it’d be great to see a video covering those AI transparency standard and ethics around them ang have a bigger discussion.
As for Cybever and Ludus AI, I don’t see myself using either for now. Cybever doesn’t really fit my workflow or needs. Ludus AI is a no-go for me because I don’t use UE5.
Cybever does mention in their FAQ that their training data was ethically sourced, which sounds good on paper, but I think they could be a lot more transparent about it. For example, they could include "training data credits" with links to the individuals whose work was used in the dataset (where possible). That kind of clarity would go a long way.
Without clear sourcing, there’s no way to know if the data was obtained with proper consent or if it was just scraped in bulk, leaving people no way to opt out. There’s also the concern that "ethically sourced" might just mean they got it through a contract with a popular service that didn’t actually ask users for consent-or worse, made consent opt-out by default. Even if technically above board, that doesn’t feel genuinely ethical to me.
That makes me hesitant to pay for services like these without at least some of my points about how the training data was sourced being addressed. If I can’t verify that the data was obtained ethically and consensually, it’s hard to justify supporting it, no matter how much value it might provide.
If these AI services addressed these concerns, I think they could earn a lot of goodwill from people. Setting a strong standard for transparency would not only improve trust but also make these tools far more commercially viable in the long run.

a lot of those ai assets were actually perfectly fine for games. even aaa games. plenty of those have whacky artifacts in their models. you have to remember 99% of the players dont' look very carefully at the 12 chairs in the room. because, in a properly made game, they're hooked on the story, or the action, or looking at the puzzle, not the background.
and then there are 1% that might be devs or artists and might NOTICE a quirk, but then it's not like a> AAA titles made by humans don't have those and B> that it would be immersion breaking. really, if someone is examining the wall texture or random desk in an office building for issues... you've failed at making your game interesting already. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
tools, ,whether they are player pianos that destroyed the music industry, or typewriters that destroyed books, or graphics tablets that destroyed art...
these tools that allow better story telling or entertainment will only allow good creators and story tellers to do more, better, faster. 'bad' results would be blaming the tools, not the artists trying to use them. in fact, there are a lot of tiresome boring "but flashy" movies and games out there right now, because there's an audience for them.
at some point it'll swing back into better stories, puzzles, and thoughtful action games. or... we've ended up in idiocracy, which there is a chance of, I'm just hopeful that it won't be the case.

Individuals with artistic ability and a willingness to continuously learn will always have an advantage over those with none.

    • @TechnoMinarchist
      @TechnoMinarchist Місяць тому +5

An often overlooked component of artistic ability and quality control is the artists eye to be able to identify what looks good, and what does not, and what need improvement, where and how.
While someone with no artistic abilities can certainly use AI to help them, they'll quickly find that their results are much less cohesive and much less visually coherent and accessible than that which has been made by someone who knows what they're doing.
It's the difference between giving a high end camera to a random person, and the same camera to a professional photographer.
That being said: AI does expand the pool by lowering the barriers to entry. In particular it allows those who have a natural affinity for the arts, but lack any formal training due to life choices, to make effective use of it.

the level design means nothing, u can do good 80% of level design in a weekend (thats even what I prefer, to block levels with real assets to get further inspiration)... but its worth nothing with all the coding/bp needed to turn it into actual game. Even the stpid menu with all settings, separated audio, saving and basic inventory is way way more work than playing with level... and what about gameplay, footsteps, animations, talking NPCs haha, so much work to cover just a core. This is just bait for starting devs without skills and w/o gamedev challenges knowledge.
