Scott Genius 40 (model 2012), after 4 years...

...and 9158 km, mostly on asphalt. This is a versatile bike because on asphalt, where you do not need to use the suspension, goes like a train blocking the fork and shock absorber via the rotary knob on the handlebar, while off-road great satisfaction with efficient damping system developed by engineers of Scott. The chassis is sturdy and made with high quality welds, unlike the Decathlon that realizes the frames with welds which disintegrate!
Excellent components with crankset and derailleur rear Shimano XT, derailleur front and gear shift Shimano SLX, saddle Selle Italy, Talas 120/150 fork and shock DT-Swiss locked remotely, break Avid Juicy 5.
The only changes I made are as follows: addition of the bottle holder, double-action pump, flat pedals, ergonomic handlebar grips and flat closer with elongated pipe. About the bottle holder I had to use two longer bolts because standard attacks on the down tube were occupied by the cable clamp (the cables do not pass inside the tube but are external). I also changed the rear wheel into tubeless with EOT system (End Of Time): inner tube 24 to be interposed between the rim (DT Swiss 465D) and tire (Michelin Mountain Dry 2).
After nearly four years of use the only parts replaced were the Avid brake pads, while the chain, the crank, cassette and crowns are still in perfect condition. Except the enormous misfortune happened in the first exit: left foot 9 kilometers from the house because of the two inner tubes are damaged! I did not take them nails and thorns, were damaged because unsuited to stay inside the Schwalbe Nobby Nic, tires internally rough. What a fool, go home on foot pushing the Genius glistening with wheels limp!
Scott is a very criticized because the brand sells its products at costs higher than average. To all those who spit judgments without true motivations recommend to be cautious, it would be enough that someone had the desire to see for yourself and test a Scott bike to understand the reason of not just low prices: QUALITY, you pay!
