If I may go out on a limb and speak for your squad.... I'm pretty sure when it comes to Chris Cornell you can restart that video as many times as necessary, his voice is just that good for you. And I'll go even further and say that those that disagree just don't matter. 😁 I was super excited for this one as soon as I saw it!!!

From Wiki. When asked what the song meant to Chris himself, here is how he responded.
That was a song that really came from the guitar itself. It was mostly like the guitar was dictating what the lyrics should be and creating a mental image. The mental image was this sort of destitute guy. I guess he'd lost his cool if you want to put it that way. He's sort of coming to grips with what had happened and not necessarily feeling particularly emotional about it either way. He's trying to figure out how he would stand up and put one foot in front of the other-or not-and the song never really resolves any of that. It's just that moment of somebody sitting in the dirt. I had more moments like that after that song was written than I ever had before it was, so it means a lot more to me now than it did then.

Love it! The ‘I shot my love today’ some people say is about drugs but also could be that he just lost his love, ruined his ability to love or drugs or alcohol ruined relationships. Such a great lyricist.
Soundgarden’s Fell on Black Days has more great lyrics and vocals. Also for a totally different bluesy side check out his solo song When I’m Down (live at the Troubadour).❤😊

Soundgarden is my favorite band, and Chris was my favorite singer of all time. He was such an amazing talent, but he must have had some really heavy stuff in his mind, which you could hear in his lyrics and his voice. He basically spoke about his own impending death for all those years in his songs, but maybe that helped him deal with life? I don't know, but I so wish he was still with us, I miss him like he was family.

Was a good age (20's) when "grunge" came out and Chris Cornell's voice was the best of all the bands at the time... but I never truly understood his lyrics or genius regarding his feelings or soul until I was in my 40's.... seen him once with Audioslave and twice solo (all with my brother who passed in 2016), he is my generation's Freddie Mercury😢😢 RIP to a truly great voice and wordsmith (both of them) 😢😢😢

'Down below the truth is lying beneath the riverbed.
Quench yourself and drink the water that flows below her head.'
'I shot my love today, would you cry for me? I lost my head again, would you lie for me?'
'I left her lying in the sand- that's the burden in my hand.'
This song has always been pretty straightforward to me, as to what it's about. One of my favorites by Soundgarden. Someone, who as a result of lacking self control, kills everything he loves or that's good for him. Metaphorically speaking, that could be everything and anything. That's the beauty of art, it's totally subjective. The Desert represents his sense of lonliness & despair, imo.
But, he does speak to killing his girl and leaving/hiding her body at the sandy bottom of a river, like so much garbage. Now, it burdens him.
'Close your eyes & bow your head,
    I need a little sympathy.
    Cuz fear is strong
    & love is for
    everyone who isn't me...'
    'Kill your health
    And kill yourself
    And kill everything you love.
And IF you live, you can fall
    to pieces,
    And suffer with my ghost.'
'Just a burden in my hand,
Just an anchor on my heart,
Just a tumor in my head.
    And I'm in the dark.'
'So follow me into the desert,
    As desperate as you are.
Where the moon is glued to
    a picture of heaven,
And all the little pigs have God.'
Moral of the Story- He is his own worst enemy who destroys everything he loves.
Enjoyed seeing how much joy Chris' voice brings you @Sceez. Be Easy Slime. 🤘

Chris's songs were always dark and depressing and that reflected the way he was feeling. It ultimately led to his untimely death. He left behind a beautiful wife and little girl. My favorite vocalist ever. Hey you wanna expand your music library? well check out their early music- back in the 90's- stuff like "Rusty Cage" and "Outshined" and "Right Turn" from AIC where Chris comes in mid way and blows you away lol!

Thanks for the advice. But trust me, I am fully familiar with Chris Cornell's entire musical career. From Soundgarden, to Auioslave, to Temple of the Dog to Alice Mud Garden, to his solo career & all the covers he performed & did so much justice to- that he not only made them his own... but made several of them preferable to the original versions. He did a great song called 'Left Turn' with Layne Staley and I can't think of the 3rd person offhand at the moment- pretty sure it's on AIC's 'Sap' LP. I'm a huge fan of Mother Love Bone & Malfunkshun.
Chris's best friend Andrew Wood was the lyricist and frontman for them- he was quite the singer, poet & musician. Truth be told, Andy was among- if not THE very first popular & successful artist to assemble bands that bridged the gap between the hair metal bands of the eighties & the birth of the alternative/grunge genres. He was an amazing artist. Sadly, he OD'd and passed away right before his first MLB album dropped, shortly after being signed with a pretty major label. It absolutely crushed Chris and many other pioneers in the scene. In fact, AIC's song 'Would' is a tribute to Andy Wood. His passing was a huge blow to the alt/grunge scene as a whole, as he was set to be the first among them to get a big break, and sadly died before he could realize his dreams. In the interest of discretion & respecting her privacy, Andy's girlfriend & muse whom he referred to as Stargazer in his songs... was almost irreparably devastated by his untimely, tragic death. Chris wrote 'Say Hello To Heaven' about his best friend Andy. Or should I say he wrote it TO Andy, posthumously. If you are a big Chris Cornell fan- you should check out MLB & Malfunkshun & the amazing artist that was Andrew Patrick Wood. You will only be enriched by the experience and it's a worthwhile horizon expanding musical endeavor indeed.
Fun Fact- The remainder of the band members of Mother Love Bone- Although Andy was absolutely irreplaceable- felt strongly that he would want them to continue making music- & after much agonizing auditioning- chose Eddie Vedder as their new frontman, and changed their name to Pearl Jam. I lived in Olympia & then Seattle (went to University at Evergreen in the late 80's/early 90's) and was heavily involved in the music scene. Right of passage of sorts, if you will 😏... So I knew some of these guys and/or we had mutual acquaintances- way before they became famous & were just struggling artists with big dreams. It really was a pretty small scene until the whole 'grunge' explosion. Good God I hate that word. So contrived, as was the entire scene. The music was great- but when it went mainstream & got hella trendy & more about appearances (2 qualities that Courtney Love embodied, exploited and reveled in btw) it just became gross. And phony af.
Also btw- Chris has two beautiful daughters, indeed' but his wife..!? Not even close. She might be pretty- but she's a gold digging fame whore, much like Courtney Love- and she used their daughter as a pawn, was/is a control freak & abused him terribly. She also attempted to assert dominance over his bands both before & after his death for perpetual profit beyond what was her legal right & she & her army of attorneys have succeeded in screwing his first daughter Lily that he had with his 1st wife & manager Susan Silver- out of her inheritance. Paying for Lily's schooling is the only area where she's receiving assistance from her dads' estate. Absolutely heartbreaking & despicable. Chris's widow took a page right tf outta Courtney Loves' Playbook from hell. It's no coincidence these two succubus whores are good friends. Courtney even had the trashy, unmitigated gall to vape during Chris' funeral. Zero Respect, per usual. Anyway- I hope I didn't just subject you to information overload. 🎯😏🤘

You familiar with Mad Season, by chance? One of my favourites. One of Laynes' side projects... had one album called 'Above'. It's chilling in that in retrospect, it was downright prophetic. In a sad way. McCready of Pearl Jam was in it... Mark Lanagan of the Screaming Trees did a few tracks on it & Layne did the artwork & wrote songs & sang. It was a Supergroup, but kind of niche... Sadly 3 of them are gone now.
