About Cecilia:
Cecilia Blomdahl is originally from Sweden and moved to Svalbard 6 years ago. She works as a photographer and videographer in Longyearbyen, and with her social media channels. Check her out on tiktok and instagram! Here on youtube she posts videos about her daily life in her cabin with her boyfriend Christoffer and her dog Grim, living just outside of Longyearbyen. Subscribe for videos about her daily life as well as adventures on an island close to the North Pole. They have polar bears there!
I feel like Christoffer is the "straight man" to Cecilia's comedienne. He appreciates her silliness and just goes with the flow... He bakes and she gets a little tipsy....Comic gold... 💖🤣
As it should be, lol! My husband cooks dinner. I drink 🍷
nahhhh she just got soooo tired because it was 7pm, lololol
I had to call my husband into the room to show him what was going on because I was laughing so hard he couldn’t understand me.
C: flails blobs of dough around not knowing which way is up.
K: calmly rolls/kneads/cuts/shapes like a pro and gives the tiniest smirk to the camera.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Looooooove Vlogmas
Christoffer needs his own cooking youtube channel, he can do his thing while Cecilia just acts fabulous in the background. Would watch.
@@Rye_Toast 10 out of 10!
Would watch for sure 👌
My hubby is the cook in our home too, I can cook too but he loves it Truly!
For me it always has been with drama around me, divorced, walked against a man that loves to cook, no drama, me happy and he happy 😂
But Christofer, please start a cooking channel or take that camera out and make us delicious tasty goodness and recipes that my hubby in his place can make ... oeh! Already cannot wait!
And am I correct that the word of these breadlike cookies means "loose bulbs" if you would translate it loosely? Because I do not live far from Denmark and I noticed that if you speak it slowly I can understand a lot Absolutely NOT everything 😁 , that is with Norwegian and Finland too.. Although as soon as the speed gets in a language.. I'm gone 😁
Loved the start of Vlogmas, but mèn.... years tend to go faster and faster!
"Grimdeer" looked as cute as can be 💖😎
Christoffer comes alive when he talks about baking. This is the most I've ever heard him say 😛😅 The pastries look delicious. And your face after drinking the mulled wine was hilarious 😂 BTW, the plastic implement you asked us about is called a spatula in English.
Yes, a spatula! 🎄🤣
I love how you are just ‘glugging’ away 🤣 and christopher is just baking! 🤣
hahaha Christoffer was very much in charge of this bake 😂😂
Now that is how I like to bake. Someone else does the cooking . Good Cecilia!!! Love it !
Is there any other way to bake?! OR COOK?!!
Absolutely!! 😂😂
Lol I was left with a sneaking suspicion that
his parents must be Mr and Mrs Santa Claus🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Mom baked every single day and he lives in the North Pole. I mean…..🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'll say it again. He needs his own baking/cooking channel. My grandmother who was Norwegian passed away years ago and she never kept recipes. Would love for him to make traditional Norwegian and Swedish food. Vær så snill? I'd subscribe. :-)
Keep doing what your doing, love your channel.
Tusen Takk og God jul
my norwegian grandma passed away a few years ago, and i still miss her christmas shipments of lefse all the way from minnesota. my mom got me my own lefse pan this year for my birthday-can’t wait to make some this month!
@@mollyirene8979 my Grandma settled in Valley City North Dakota. While she never sent us anything, all bets were off when we visited though. Lefse, Krumkake, sweet soup, even Lutefisk (never developed a taste for that, Uff Da!)
@@fizzlefinch uff da for sure! i’ve never quite acquired the taste for lutefisk. love some krumkake, as well as riskrem and rømmegrøt! even though you may not have your grandma’s recipes, i hope you can find some that remind you of her cooking!
@@WyrdHag I think for us Americans our obsession is twofold. First we are still a young nation and therefore for alot of immigrant families (especially for those whos ancestors came over relatively recently) we don't have much of a personal national identity or connection to our past (family and tradition are important to most Americans, probably from the pioneer days) secondly alot of ethnic food (not just Scandanavian) is really good so we win on two fronts. We have our connection to our ancestors and its yummy. As for eating the gross stuff like lutefisk. Well, noone ever said us Americans were totally sane. 😆
But in all seriousness, I totally get that Norway isn't still living in the 1800's. But there are still traditional recipes that are still tasty that should be preserved in how to make them. Then there are the really good recipes that we would love to see Kristopher make such as Krumkake and Kransekake (sp?)
@@WyrdHag well, i know that my ancestors who came over from norway were farmers, so it makes sense that would have eaten this food! it also makes sense that these would’ve been the recipes they passed down to their children, and so on and so on. we usually only cook norwegian food for family gatherings and holidays (it’s not like it’s all we eat 😂) because it has that sense of tradition for us. and i still want to visit norway someday, even if i won’t necessarily find all the food i grew up with!
I would love to hear more about Christoffer's childhood and life. He has such a calm, soothing demeanor and I get the feeling he'd have a lot of lovely stories to tell.
Who else wants to see more cooking vlogs with Christopher?? Lovely family!
Can you tell Christoffer that we so appreciate him appearing in videos? I feel like it might not be his favorite thing but I know I love watching you guys interact with each other. There is so much love there between you two!
I could watch Christopher cook all day. They’re so cute together, I love how he’s patient with however Cecelia wants to do it
Cecilia starter pack:
1. Grim
2. More Grim
3. Coffee
4. Chris food
5. Telling Grim he is beautiful/handsome/so cute every 0.5 seconds
6. Did I mention Grim? Lol
Let the Christmas festivities begins!!!!
❤️❄️☃️🎄🎅 happy holidays everyone!!!!!!
😂😂😂😂😍
Grab your glögg and we have a drinking game.
7. "it's so beautiful!"
@@safe-keeper1042 yessssss 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Does anyone else have anything to add to this starter pack???! 🤣🤣🤣
You should do a day in the life of Christofer. He has really let his guard down and I love it.
In English: spatula
Loved this vid by the way, Christopher is such a wag and Grim, is adorable. 💜
Also in romanian we use the same word, hehe, with the accent on "u"
In Spanish= espatula
In Spanish= espatula
In America it can also be called a rubber scraper. Or at least that’s what I always call it, because it’s so great at scraping every last bit out of a bowl.
In Serbian is spatula, too. 🙂
That implement is called a rubber spatula, used for wiping bowls. A metal spatula is used to turn hot things on the stove. I love this video. Christoffer baked while Cecelia glugged. I am all for glugging!
We like to call rubber spatulas “child cheaters” because they scrape bowls so clean of yummy batter!
Just don't call it a spatula in front of my home economics teacher from jr high! She would get VERY upset!
@@Wizardofgosz why? What did she call it?
Jonna Jinton: It gets so dark where I live in the winter.
Cecilia Blomdahl: hold my glögg.
And it even is very dark here in Spain!!!!!!! We always exaggerate and I suppose we don't know what dark really feels like. Can we all have some of that saffron cookies? Do you deliver them to Spain? I'll certainly try out the recipe, because we have good saffron here in Spain. Glögg, the word sounds so cute. How do you make it? Cheers chicas!!! We have a glass of Tinto here. Keep warm and sleep well. Donna nit!!!!!
Did Cecilia actually say that?! That is my new seasonal motto.
🤣🤣🤣🙈🙈🙈
Love how he explains why the butter should not be melted, just softened. Thanks
I laughed when you said "And it's now twice as big" and Christoffer had a devilish grin on his face.
Christopher is great in the Kitchen 🌹YOU need to let us see him make more of his Awesome dishes👍
Thank goodness Christofer knows his way around the kitchen!!! He always makes such delicious looking food. And Reindeer Grim is totally adorable. 🎄🦌🎅🏼
🎄 Hello! Please please do a video of how and when you two met and what you two were doing at the time...school? Girlfriends? Boyfriends? I would love to hear it! Love LOVE 💘 these videos. 🎅🎄🎁⛪🤶🎅
I’m not sure if cocoa is a Nordic thing, but hot chocolate with a candy cane melted in is perfection
This baking episode was fun. I could just squeeze Kristoffer. He is so calm, soothing with his voice and also a good baker. I think the glogg added a fun element too.
you can tell Kris is in love with you and baking. Him talking about his mom almost made me cry.
*Literally laughed out loud at **20:20**..."ill just be over here" and he keeps decorating --then opens the oven with bare hands LOL!*
A true viking.
Of course Christoffer touches a 200 degree oven shelf with his bare hands! This was so lovely and cosy to watch ☺️
Probably doesn't have much sensation left in his fingers from being a chef.
Christopher can have his own show. I could watch him all day.
My mother always called a spatula a “child cheater” because it cheats the child from licking the bowl. Too cute there’s a similar thing in Swedish!
I consider myself a Grim's Family Lover lol no I've been following Cecilia, Kristopher and Grim for over a year now and I can say with a 100% surety that this is the most I've ever heard Kristopher talk 😂😉It shows your love for cooking. These cooking episodes are very enjoyable! Thanks for sharing your time and recipes Kristopher!
I love watching you together! Cecilia: and now we’re done. (Christoffer: now we make the filling)… later on… Cecilia: and now they bake (Christoffer: now they sit and double in size).
😂😂
Iḿ so thrilled youŕe doing vlogmas! Something to look forward to. Iḿ so happy that Christopher is feeling more comfortable talking in front of the camera : )
When Christoffer said the word "fluffy" with a straight, serious face I just lol'd 😂. This is so fun to watch, esp. with Cecilia struggling with helping out in the baking 😂. And of course, Grim, always being his adorable self ❤.
The word spatula derives from the Latin word for a flat piece of wood or splint, a diminutive form of the Latin spatha, meaning 'broadsword', and hence can also refer to a tongue depressor. The words spade (digging tool) and spathe are similarly derived. The word spatula has been used in English since 1525.
your explanation is much more detailed than my simple answer of "It's called a spatula" lol :-)
I love etymology.
I am impressed that he / his family has held onto that mixer all these years. They sure don't make things like they used to. I hope that Christoffer had a nice birthday.
I love when Christoffer cooks!! Have him on more, just love his energy n he so humble!! These treats look delicious 😋
I might have said this before I can’t remember but this is goals for my 30s LOL no kids, cozy cabin, cute doggo, and a partner that can bake 😍
I love how Christoffer is now more comfortable talking on videos. The whole family is amazing and I’m loving all of the the baking the Christmas content coming our way! Love from Colorado where we currently have no snow. 😱😭
Every Christmas our family would gather at my uncles for a smorgasbord! They are 100 percent Swedish. Lord I miss that food!!!! My aunt would make this meT dish, they would use wrapped brick to press it!! It's call SILTA
You, getting buzzed on glügg in the background, is hysterical. Btw, it’s called a spatula.
😂😂😂
This is the funniest one ever!! I haven't laughed so much in a long while as when Christoffer finishes first and is just leaning against the counter patiently watching you!
Hahah I'm so glad you enjoyed it! 😍 Christoffer is so patient haha!
I love how the grocery store is so neat and organized.
Christoffer was in his element. Love it!!!!
Yes, spatula. My father used to play a little finger game with us and he called our index finger "she licked the pot" and you have to make a slurping sound when you pretend to scrape out a bowl 🥣. He told me that he learned it from his Grandmother who was born and raised in Sweden though her parents were from Norway, anyhow, I quickly paid attention when you called a "spatula" "shelickdapot". I had only just learned that our game had a Swedish origin, so I thought, "Oh how cute!" I learned something!
!! Merry Christmas !!
We say slickepott in Swedish.god jul ,Merry xmas!
A man of a few words. And dominates that kitchen. Christopher is the Top Artic Chef.
I love Cecilia’s chaotic energy paired with Christoffer’s zen baking approach. Such a great video and really gave us a nice peek at Christoffer in his natural element!
Christoffer is so bad ass he just touches the hot oven racks without an oven mitt on!💪🏼😆 20:31 ...your pastries looked delicious!❤🎄
Love Kristoffer's cooling segments! Learning about your cultural foods is the best ♥️
I love Christmastime and the cozy season so much, so imagine my joy at the prospect of beginning cozy days with vlogmas from Svalbard! Your videos are my favorite and it is so fun to see more of Kristoffer and his cooking! Plus, of course the world's cutest taste-tester
The tool is a ”Dough scraper” - ”degskrapa” in Swedish (or ”slickepott”).
Spatula in English is ”spatel” in Swedish or just ”stekspade”.
I cannot stop laughing!! You two are too precious (oh and Grim too)! 🥰🥰🥰
Christoffer is the better baker of you too. He wins the baking competition. Christoffer is very good at baking! 😊
Christopher's smile when he hold that food in the beginning of video!!! Love it, pure joy.
In U.S. English, that thing you held up early on is called a rubber spatula. It's for scraping dishes. And, I was so glad to see Christoffer scraping out the bowl completely! Drives me crazy when watching TV cooking shows and they don't scrape all the batter, etc., out of the bowl/pan, etc.
I love that Christoffer is in this video and talking! I have been interested in what his personality is like since you are so fun and whimsical/charismatic and he usually seems so serious. He was more relaxed and open in this video. He should totally have his own cooking/baking videos on your channel! I would LOVE to watch him bake/cook.
Every year we have a day of traditional Norwegian baking (scheduled for next weekend). My mom works with the 4 grandkids (now 21, 20, 20, & 18) making krumkake, fatiggman, sandbakkel, rosettes, etc., while my sister and I make lefse. I’ll definitely have to try these. Something new to add to the aresenal. Thanks for sharing 🎄
“Its not the simplest of baking, because you have to do it right.” 😂😂😂 Cecilia - a “baker” after my own heart. Lol.
Hahahah 🤣🤣
I love the small smile he’s giving you while you’re rolling dough!! Y’all are precious! That flat thing I call a spatula
❤ love everything about you guys!! But can I just say, get it girl! Almost 200k subscribers, makes me so happy because ya'll are my favorites to watch!! I'm so glad you are out there doing your thing 😃 😊
Thank you so much!! 🧡🧡🧡
I love when Christoffer is on! He’s amazing!!!
I just love you guys! Christoffer is just an awesome, no nonsense guy! Love your dynamic and also Christoffer is amazing at baking.
It's really nice to see Christopher getting more comfortable with the camera
Christoffer seems much more comfortable in front of the camera!!! We love you Cecilia, christoffer, and of course mr. Grim ♥️🎄🎂
It’s a spatula. And you’re so lucky Christoffer is a chef. He should have a cooking / baking session in the vlogs every once in a while.
Everyone’s told you it’s spatula in English, but no-one mentioned that the almond flour + sugar mixture is marzipan??? I love that stuff - mum used to put a block of it in my Christmas stocking as a kid! I’d usually eaten the lot by the time we got up for breakfast!! 🤣
@@WyrdHag Oh they do?? I was hearing it as something like "mandelmasa"
The Glogg will get you EVERY time! Such a warm cozy glow then lights out.
Best episode to date! I love your interaction with each other 😂
Love this video!!! Christoffer is a true chef…he barely measures anything and it all turns out brilliant! Those saffron rolls looked just delicious…you can almost smell them baking. You two are sooooo cute together and of course we can’t forget Grim. Thank you for sharing!
He did too did you not see the scale?
@@carochan86 he measured only a few things....he was eyeballing the rest. 😉
Men gud mixern! Min mamma hade något liknande, Electrolux från istiden. Älskar stämningen, så härligt att få umgås med er i köket. Satt själv med adventsfikat i knät, tack för videon 🎄❄️⛄️🥰
You two were so entertaining in this baking video. I agree with others. We need more Christoffer cooking episodes!
Years ago we used to make glögg every Christmas and New Year’s. I used cranberry juice and apple cider with port wine, spices, sliced apple and oranges, and garnished with almonds and raisins. Delicious.
Christoffer is the coolast baker, and shows a new way to make lussebullar, looks really yummy! Cecilia you’re so funny,he is the baker and you handle the glögg ha ha!🤣🤣
I cannot wait for this years VLOGMAS! I'm going to bake, drink mulled wine, spoil my dog, and enjoy the cold and snow! ❤🎄☃
You guys are so much fun and cozy to watch. 🎄🤣 I love how chill and laid back he is about everything. Cecilia and Christopher are perfect together. Y’all balance each other out so well. 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
You won the jackpot with Christoffer. He's just a lovely man.
Glogg is a word I haven't heard since I was a kid, listening to my dad and his sisters talking about drinking glogg at my grandparents house during Christmas. My aunt inherited the fancy little cups from my grandmother that she used to serve the glogg in.... I've never had the pleasure of having it, hopefully one day I will
In the United States we call that a spatula..Christopher is such a gem ! I see how he won your heart ..I love your Channel.. plus I love winter ..
The almond and raisin version looks mouth-watering amazing!
Grimm is adorable. I absolutely love him to bits. As for you and Christopher. You compliment each other and make me smile.
If Christoffer ever comes to England, he can spend the weekend at our house!! 😍😍
That tool is a spatula 👍🏼
Christoffer, I am so excited to make your Grandma's Lussebullar. I've watched your video over and over again to prepare. I'm planning to make it for Christmas morning. Please keep making cooking videos. We in the US love to watch you and try to replicate your recipes. Sending love to you both for a very Happy Christmas!
I love ❤️ how Christopher cooks! 👨🍳 1 kilo of flour, 1 1/2 cups of sugar ish, 1 pinch of salt, ish, proceeds to put 2 in 😂 and the milk with the saffron warming up on the stove! It looks delicious 😋! I bet the house smells amazing 🤩! Also, let’s not forget the entire family wearing Christmas attire including our favorite dog 🐕 Grim!! 🎄🎅 xmas 🤶! Love you guys and I love 💕 the cooking 🧑🍳 videos as well! More please! 😊🥰
Such a lovely video. I feel like there are lots of layers to Christoffer😉…when he started speaking about his mother baking everyday….would love to hear more. ❤️ Thanks for sharing.
Loved the first vlog of Vlogmas! You are an incredibly lucky lady to have a man who bakes and seems to enjoy it as much as Christoffer.
Hi Grim!
omg Grim is waaaaaaay too cute at the end. Hes a model !!
So Beautiful! Awesome to see Christopher more comfortable chillin with us! Yayyyy!
Cecilia: You want a little bit of this (flour) for your hands? *Puts a little pile on Christoffer's cutting board*
Christoffer: *Grabs a bench scraper and effortlessly fans out some flour and spreads it out on his station with the scraper*
Me: Oh shit. This guy is legit.
Awesome video! Can't wait to see more cooking/baking vids. Much love from Canada!
Three of you together in X'mas dress. Very festive vibe. Love it!!!
Happy holidays! 😍🧡
Normally the chef gets drunk on the cooking programmes. So entertaining, funny and fun to watch. Quite an achievement in a kitchen in the frozen and dark North!
You guys are great. Christoffer’s demeanor reminds me so much of my husband’s 😊 Happy new year to all three of you!
A very good friend of mine is from Sweden. She has lived in Florida for many years. I will tell her all about your UA-cam Chanel!
Love, love, love this video!!! Perfect start of December and Christmas season!! Kristoffer maybe should consider opening a bakery! Looks sooo delicious!! ♥️🎄🦌⛄
Spatula - that is the word you were looking for the sleek-a-pot 😉
I know how potent Glogg is, Cecilia, and thoroughly enjoyed watching you get a bit tipsy. 😂 You two make a great cooking show! So funny and fun.
I recently watched someone else's video about Svalbard (a traveler, not someone who lives there) and then youtube suggested your channel to me. I have been binge watching ever since. My dog loves all appearances by Grim, so she watches with me. She also loved the walrus visitors from this summer. I'm so glad you share your life with us, I have to say one (just one of many) of my favorite things about binging your channel has been seeing Christoffer get more comfortable on camera. You guys are so cute together! I'm so jealous of your polar night, I grew up in Alaska and I miss it.
Cecilia, that was so much fun!! You and Christoffer are such a sweet family…I love it when couples are friends, that’s how it should be ❤️😊. Excited to see how y’all decorate the house for Christmas 🎄. Give Grim a big hug from all his adoring fans and have a wonderful week 🧡🧡
Now this was too cute to watch y’all doing the same thing but in different ways.
This vid is soooo cozy and just perfect. Christoffer is a GEM of a man! Those saffron rolls looked delicious.
I would love to see more cooking videos with Christopher. The photography and cooking sounds combined would be awesome. So relaxing. Cozy.
I love that this is Christoffer’s Grandmother’s recipe! I’m going to try to make this! Saffron is one of the most rare spices on the planet which is why we find it in holiday recipes all over the world. It’s so fun to get to know Christoffer better. His English and cooking prowess are impressive! Happy Christmas Season!!!
And of course you have an Electrolux Assistent mixer! Those are awesome.
I love that old mixer, never seen anything like it! In the US we have Kitchen Aid mixers. The candy canes are very popular here, they are all over and have been for many years. I have never heard of the saffron bread/cake you are making, will look up in my Swedish cookbook. Beautiful color, wish I could taste!
Awww, Christoffer, you truly have a kind heart!
You two are so adorable and fun to watch in the kitchen! And I love how modest Christoffer is... he is a master baker! 👍
You have the Best supermarket...
So neat, clean and well stocked.
Awesome to see Christoffer in another vid... He's relaxed as now....
This was so fun watch! Love your videos, so glad you’re doing Vlogmas 😊
Yay! Thank you!
I like the way Christoffer says “ fluffy” ! He says it like “ flow--ffffe”
